  1. first post updated with the agreed rule changes for 2012. rules taken from: http://www.svemo.se/...eglerinfor2012/ There also speculation about many of the riders. Especially riders like Chris Holder Darcy Ward Piotr and Przemyslaw Pawlicki Rune Holta Fredrik Lindgren Tomasz Gollob Pawlickis have been rumoured to Elit Vetlanda. If my calculations are correct. Vetlanda can squeeze them in together with the 5 confirmed signings and still have 0,039 to the average cap. Freddie Lindgren is claimed to be very close to sign with Västervik. Gollobs whereabouts are also uncertain since Hammarby's team manager made a statement to the press that Gollob (and a few other riders) were not desirable for the 2012 season. I think that there would be many team interested but perhaps Västervik where Tomasz for for over 10 years would be a strong candidate. However Västervik doesn't most surely not the amount of money required for such a signing.
  2. Sin city speedway will have its grand opening on Saturday October 22nd. One of the riders participating is Thomas H Jonasson. Its doubtful though if it can host a GP since its only 1/8 mile long which is less then 200m and i think 250m is the minimum length? 3. Ther have been suggestion from Svemo to introduce a salary cap at 2.9 million kronor (£278000) however as of Friday afternoon only three teams have sent in their approval. IMO Piraterna's team manager Stefan Andersson describes the problem with it very well: What Stefan is saying is that some teams would follow that cap while others will be able to let the sponsors pay the riders so that he team appears to have lower salary costs then they actually have. If i'm not misstaken Rune Holta got a quite large tax penalty a few years ago for sponsor money from one of Vetlandas sponsors . Skattetverket (Swedish Tax Agency) considered it be a salary which Rune of course hadn't paid any tax for since he considered it sponsorship. Personally i agree with Stefan, there is no point in having it if they teams can bypass it.
  4. according to time zone converter Auckland GP will start at 23.00 (11pm) your time on March 30th.
  5. according to this article http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/article12308470.ab Greg had a fixed salary at 60'000 Swedish Kronor (~£5700) per meeting. This was for 2010 and i think i read somewhere that he had about 70'000 (~£6688) this season. Greg has done 18 meetings this year for Piraterna which would mean that he would have earned some £120000 this season only from Piraterna. I am pretty sure that riders like Gollob and Nicki have similar salaries.

  11. 1. No i what i say is that if the wild cards were scrapped, together with a limit at top 5 for automatically qualifying, those who want to be sure of spot in the Grand Prix the next season would have to enter the qualifying. If they did that there would be tougher opposition in all of the qualifying rounds which would mean that it presumable would be less likely to se riders like BP and PP qualifying in the end. 2.: outside top 8 2007-2011, top 9: 2006: wild card for season: 2011: Nicki Pedersen, Janusz Kołodziej 2010: Tai Woffinden, Hans Andersen, Fredrik Lindgren, Chris Harris. 2009: Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Fredrik Lindgren 2008: Chris Harris, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Fredrik Lindgren 2007: Antonio Lindbäck, Chris Harris, Bjarne Pedersen 2006: Niels Kristian Iversen, Antonio Lindbäck, Scott Nicholls, Piotr Protasiewicz, Lee Richardson Qualifiers for season: 2011: Artem Laguta, Antonio Lindbäck, Fredrik Lindgren 2010: Magnus "Zorro" Zetterström 2009: Grzegorz Walasek, Sebastian Ulamek 2008: Niels Kristian Iversen, Lukas Dryml, Bjarne Pedersen 2007: Wieslaw Jagus 2006: only WC,no qualifiers.
  12. Its a nice idea but I can see a problem though. what if Poole would go up against lets say Elit Vetlanda? How would they solve the issue with THJ riding for both teams?
  13. spook, imo the reason to why the likes of Bjarne and Pepe manage to qualify is due to the lack of established opponents. If there would be plenty of GP riders would ride the qualifiers its would perhaps be less likely that riders like Bjarne, Pepe... would qualify. Freddie managed to go through the qualifiers for 2011 so he obviously knows how to do it and that it can be done. IMG has managed a few good picks the latest years, like Emil, Holder and AJ but several of their other picks have not been successful,
  14. as i said that is entirely because the GP riders KNOW that they will get a nomination if they are outside top 8 which means they don't bother with the qualifiers. You can't blame the qualifiers for not beating GP riders if they GP riders don't ride in the qualifiers? Therefore qualifiers are more worthy then the charity cases.
  15. that's because the likes of Harris, Lindgren, N. Pedersen and the other Gp riders does not bother to do the qualifiers but instead relies on nominations if they finish outside top 8. If the nominations would be scrapped the GP riders would be forced to do the qualifiers. Perhaps they would qualify anyway but i wouldn't be surprised if a few of them would fail. .Besides Lindgren, Antonio and Artem díd beat a GP rider in the qualifiers for 2011. They all beat Chris Harris. For the 2010 GP series, Jarek Hampel, Chris Holder and Zorro successfully beat Chris Harris, Fredrik Lindgren, Rune Holta and Kenneth Bjerre all 4 of those were 2009 GP riders.
  16. also according to article i mentioned in my previous post. 2012 will be the final year with Grand Prix at Vojens since its exemption from FIA and BSI regulations will expire next year. I didn't really understand what the exact issue was but it was something that required a re-construction of the arena but the city of Haderslev do not want to contribute financially so apparently it would mean that the track after 2012 no longer would be able to host Grand Prix's / SWC events.
  17. Vojens will host the penultimate round of the 2012 Grand Prix Series. This is according to Danish Ekstrabladet:
  18. i understand what you are saying but i don't give d*m* about your average formulas. if a rider rides 3 meetings and scores 7 points in each meeting the rider have scored 7 points. I also find it surprising that you need to have things explained. 21 is 21 and not 14. a formula is just biased way of judging a performance. And who decided that your formula is the correct? if you have three baskets with 7 eggs in each. If you then put all of the eggs in one basket. How many eggs do have in that basket? Normally it would be 21 eggs. Or do you have 14 eggs? If you then divide the 21 eggs into three equally big piles, how many eggs do you then have in each pile? ooooh lets see, it must be 7. Your worse at maths then a 5 year old.
  19. your methods ARE strange. There is no way 7+7+7 which equals 21 can be anything else then 7 when divided by three, Which is an average score of 7 per meeting, or 1,4 points per heat. I also think there is something wrong with SGP's score. Take a look at this link: http://speedwaygp.com/swcresults/32 and heat 22. THJ is positioned furthest to the left like he had won that heat but he has no point listed in that heat and the table below says 0. Troy Batchelor is listed as 3rd in the heat but in the table its says 0 for his 5th ride. It doesn't matter really as i still think the the charity cases Lindgren and Harris should be given a leave from the GP series until they can get themselves in. Its time to let other riders have a go.
  20. true average? I think an average like that can't be more true (points/meeting) or do you some secret type of weird maths in Britain? coz' in my world (7+7+7)/3=7.
  21. I agree with IO, Harris ended the 2010 season i a very good way but yet he didnt get going until towards the end of this GP season. It could also be that the tracks in the of the season suits him better then the tracks during the rest of the season.
  22. two semifinals from two wild card apperarances. Rode very well in Målilla GP. Averaged on 7 points in the World Cup; Ev1: Thomas H. Jonasson (1,2,2,2,0,0) 7 RO: Thomas H. Jonasson (3,0,2,0,2,0) 7 Fin: Thomas H. Jonasson (0,2,2,1,2,0) 7
  23. well you now there are many other young exciting riders like Pawlickis, Janowski, Miedzisnki, Grigory Laguta... all of them would have been a just as good pick as Darcy and Laguta would have been an even better choice.
