  1. Don't get me started, though I now live many miles away from the site of my beloved Dudley Wood, I have had a good few looks on Google Earth. Makes me want to go and burn down a couple of Barratt Homes!!!!! Looking on the bright side there is a possibility we could be back on track next year. Until then the memories will have to do, thank god for video!
  2. Hope there aren't any visa problems like the Sheffield meeting last year (or was it the year before) and that the Russians get to ride. If Sayfutdinov comes to terms with the track he should do well. Would be good for the sport if a young Russian can make a mark at World level. My top 3 Tai, Batchelor, Sayfutdinov. But Boxall will be up there if he gets in the meeting.
  3. Not got a problem at all with you having your opinions. I have a soft spot for Holta, I think because he comes from a Speedway nation with very few top riders and because he has got to near the top of the sport without riding in the UK. As a result I feel he has always been a bit under rated. You might well be right that his best days are now behind him.
  4. No you weren't, he finished in the top 15. Seriously, it was a disappointing show from Rune. I thought he was unlucky to be excluded in his 3rd ride and he gave a glimpse of what he can do in his 4th. Let's give it a few more GP's before we pass judgement.
  5. Yet Holta has consistently been in the top 10 averages in Poland and Sweden for the past few years. Also finished 8th in the GP's in 2003 before an injury affected 2004 saw him out of the series.
  6. Can remember him in his time at Wimbledon getting some sort of infection from an insect bite which really knocked him about. I'd like to know more about how that affected him. Would also like to know how he got on with team mates like Lee and Simmons and how he coped with those vital World Final engine failures. Also be interested in his views on how he was treated as GB manager and how he felt his dismissal was handled.
  7. Track: Dudley Wood Captain: Erik Gundersen Other Riders: Bernie Persson, Jan O Pedersen, Alan Grahame, Phil Collins, Simon Cross, Arthur Price. No 8 Billy Hamill. Promoter: Dan McCormick Team Manager: Peter Adams Announcer: Pat Foley Race Night: Saturday at 7.30 (need to leave home by 7.00, read a Sporting Star on the way to the track) March Out Music: That RAF marching song Reading matter: Speedway Star on the way out the stadium (sorry Tony) after walking round the riders car park trying to grab some autographs.
  8. My guess for the 3 tracks... 1. Ipswich 1974 2. Ipswich 1975 3. Ipswich 1976
  9. There was a review of both SGP and SWC in 2001. I've got the SWC video but I'm sure it was out on DVD as well. Produced by Duke Video.
  10. Surely after the quality of this year's Bydgoszcz GP only BSI would be so daft as to drop it. By far the best GP over the past 3 or 4 years.
  11. You are talking about Hampel who had finished 11th in 2005, 13 points off 8th place, having missed 3 of the 9 GP's through injury. So reasonable to say he would have reached the top 8 given a full season. Don't think you can say he "failed miserably" to reach the top 8 this year. He is only one place and 3 points off that goal(reaching 3 finals) and that is suffice to qualify as of right.
  12. Sorry, drop a cog but your original question was in the present tense. I think you must be the only person who believes that AJ rides currently in the EL. I think the scale of the response shows you are in a very small minority who thinks that the EL is superior to the other 2 major leagues. Good argiung in favour of Steady, but I personally think that Bomber has outperformed him both in the individual qualifying and (marginally) the WTC. This combined with a disappointing display at Cardiff may well tip the balance in Bomber's favour. If BSI insist on having to seed 2 Brits I think it would be unjust for Steady to get the nod in front of Bomber.
  13. Glad to see no musicians in the colour section....
  14. Regardless of whether his points count or not, it was a creditable performance. After the recent loss of Toni Kasper and the debilitating injuries that have stalled the potential of the Dryml brothers, Czech Speedway needs a shot in the arm and it would be good to see Tomicek or Simota(or anyone) make a breakthrough in the next couple of years.
  15. ). Just go to Sky.com, there is a feedback link at the bottom of the page. You can give feedback to the Sports director (only 512 characters allowed though)
  16. Agree with all the above except I thought the "Sullivan could clinch the championship" was his best effort last night. When you consider the amount of money Sky invest in their sports coverage it beggars belief that they then go and employ someone who has proven time and time again that he is totally incapable of doing a competent job.
  17. Slightly conflicting arguments? If it's all right for Iversen to do his growing up in the GP's then surely Bomber (or Steady) should be afforded the same.
  18. Agree with what you say and a very strong finish to the Series this year might save him, but I can't see a Dane getting a seeded spot (making 4 Danes) and leaving GB with only 1 rider for 2007.
  19. Right so Stead should get seeded and Bomber is a reserve!!!!!! If a Brit gets a nomination its got be Bomber. With regards to an earlier post calling for Loram, how can you justify putting Loramski in front of Harris or PK?
  20. Just like to add my thanks to Anders for the updates tonight - great work!!!
  21. Not saying that Bomber shouldn't get in as things stand. I am glad he rode so well tonight and has given himself every chance of being seeded. Imagine if he'd only got 5 or 6 points but BSI still seeded a Brit to make 2. I agree with you that PK is likely to be the guy with the hard luck story.
  22. Swop Gollob for PK and I think you may have the 15 for next year. There might still be some shocks about who qualifies in the top 8 though.
  23. Speedway Star this week said it was "inconceivable" that there wouldn't be 2 Brits in the Series. Given the magazine's ties with the GP's there is probably some truth in that comment. If there is to be a 2nd Brit through this loathed seeding system then Bomber must be the pick, it would be grossly unfair if Stead or richardson got the nomination in front of him. Having said that I don't agree with this quota idea of giving countries a certain amount of representation. If the Brits aren't good enough then they shouldn't be in.
