The referee had no say in the decision, he was informed by the Meeting Steward Tony Steele what to announce to the public.

I'd agree with that. Brummies will hope for Harris and Doyle, mainly, to try and get the odd win against the Poole heat leaders and then target Heats 2, 8 and 14. Poole will hope Josh can cover that threat.

Don't think it will make much difference. I included Covatti in my prediction because his form has been a bit weak in the play-offs so far.

I was speaking to someone who was at Perry Barr last night and their main reaction about the meeting was not about the quality of the racing (which was deemed as OK), but the ridiculously long time it took the meeting to be run. They left before Heat 15. I know Sky like the double header nature of the play-off semi's but it always drags the meetings on for ever.

Mistake going with the first leg at home? Allowed the Wimborne hordes to be the 8th 7th man. The Swindon team needs all of the top 5 to ride to close to their best, but Eddie was nowhere near tonight.

The crowd for the Kiddie match was a touch over 2,000. Comfortably more than the crowds at most Elite League venues, especially when the cameras are present.

Interesting input as ever from Arthur. I've watched a bit of the Conference Football coverage and have enjoyed their innovative approach and it is clear that the contract gives them a fairly free hand. With Greyhounds, Netball and Basketball now producing their own programmes in house for selling on as a package, it would seem that does not fit with the BT sport ethos of quality coming first. Edit: I hope ESPN/BTSport 3 does continue to show American sport - I would be lost without my Baseball!

If that is the case, and I'm sure it probably is, one would like to think that GoSpeed would at least be pushing for an answer of any kind so that the sport can plan for 2014. Any hope of BTSport being interested? Their live portfolio is based on Football and Rugby Union which leaves large gaps for their summer schedules. Though I can't imagine anybody watching the debacle at Belle Vue the other week would want to touch the sport with a barge pole.
