Birmingham V Poole Grand Final 2nd Leg
salty replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not the Hancock who was riding in Heat 7, or THJ in Heat 5. Can's say for the last couple of heats as I gave up watching. Do you seriously think it is good entertainment watching this? -

If this proves to be the sports swansong on Sky, what a rotten way to bow out. Miserable spectacle watching international riders struggling to get round the track. -

Think you will find that you are incorrect. When a Meeting Steward is appointed, in this case Tony Steele, they supersede the referee when it comes to decisions regarding the continuation of the meeting in adverse conditions. -

The referee had no say in the decision, he was informed by the Meeting Steward Tony Steele what to announce to the public. -
To be fair, Speedway Star this week said "It is unthinkable that the GP series would not be staged without a Swedish representative and, after finishing 11th in the standings, Freddie Lindgren has to be the man for the job" Suppose they took into account AJ missing a couple of rounds.

King's Lynn V Dudley (po Final) - 9th October 2013

Congrats to the Heathens. Well deserved after last years heartache. Seems like it was a good sporting occasion last night, Young Stars deserve a lot of credit for the season they have had. -

You sure it wasn't Neil Middleditch??? or Geoff Mudge or Pete Smith or Odd Fossengen or Stefan Shovlaressen? -
Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final

Guessing Phil means work carried out after the initial running of Heat 10 (when Puk fell) and it was obvious after the second running of Heat 10 (when Hancock passed Bjerre) that the meeting just had to be abandoned. In other news we are also now told that Santa, the Tooth Fairy and Bigfoot are all alive and kicking. -
Had fogotten this was due so it was a lovely surprise to come home from a miserable day at work to find the new edition on the mat. Nice to see a big feature on Siggy - one of the few top riders of the era who haven't had a main feature as yet. I wonder if Siggy would have ever got to the pinnacle of the sport if it wasn't for his career ending injury? Also looking forward to reading about such as Sid Sheldrick, John Langfield and above all John Bostin (got to be one of the best surnames ever) This month's deliberate mistake - caption of the photo at West Ham on page 22. Couldn't have been riding Edinburgh - surely should be Coatbridge? Notice the obit on Tony Millard. There was also a nice one in the recent edition of The Cricketer.

Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final

No Tungate will give Poole an advantage tonight. Josh to get 7 rides and THJ 5, gives them a nice boost. -
Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final
salty replied to pirateandi's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'd agree with that. Brummies will hope for Harris and Doyle, mainly, to try and get the odd win against the Poole heat leaders and then target Heats 2, 8 and 14. Poole will hope Josh can cover that threat. -
Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final

Don't be so defensive. Not saying there is anything underhand about Dyer missing tonight or last night. Just pointing out that I predicted it and it has come to pass. Don't think it will make much difference. I included Covatti in my prediction because his form has been a bit weak in the play-offs so far. -

Means there would have been a run-off for second place. -
Poole V Birmingham 1st Leg Grand Final

As I predicted last week either Dyer or Covatti (or both) would be missing for one (or both) of the matches. Still think Poole will do well tonight, another big night for Josh I suspect. -

Thought this was interesting from Monday's RP. The Football Club's missed planning deadline? http://www.racingpost.com/news/greyhounds/wimbledon-diane-mclean-mclean-queries-council-attitude-over-planning/1539075/top/ -
Why Can't All Speedway Be Like This
salty replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I was speaking to someone who was at Perry Barr last night and their main reaction about the meeting was not about the quality of the racing (which was deemed as OK), but the ridiculously long time it took the meeting to be run. They left before Heat 15. I know Sky like the double header nature of the play-off semi's but it always drags the meetings on for ever. -
Poole V Swindon 30 September 2013 Second Leg
salty replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Mistake going with the first leg at home? Allowed the Wimborne hordes to be the 8th 7th man. The Swindon team needs all of the top 5 to ride to close to their best, but Eddie was nowhere near tonight. -

It's a school night. -
The crowd for the Kiddie match was a touch over 2,000. Comfortably more than the crowds at most Elite League venues, especially when the cameras are present.

Whats with the "other" Pirate fans? When did you desert the Panthers - glory hunter!!! -
Interesting input as ever from Arthur. I've watched a bit of the Conference Football coverage and have enjoyed their innovative approach and it is clear that the contract gives them a fairly free hand. With Greyhounds, Netball and Basketball now producing their own programmes in house for selling on as a package, it would seem that does not fit with the BT sport ethos of quality coming first. Edit: I hope ESPN/BTSport 3 does continue to show American sport - I would be lost without my Baseball!
-
If that is the case, and I'm sure it probably is, one would like to think that GoSpeed would at least be pushing for an answer of any kind so that the sport can plan for 2014. Any hope of BTSport being interested? Their live portfolio is based on Football and Rugby Union which leaves large gaps for their summer schedules. Though I can't imagine anybody watching the debacle at Belle Vue the other week would want to touch the sport with a barge pole.
