That was dull. Lost interest after a few heats and started channel hopping. Hope tomorrow is better. -
Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?
salty replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I see the logic, but find it flawed. It's like teams in football who fight to get into the Europa League and then play their reserves when they're in it. At least it meant Monstrous Joe didn't have divided loyalties tonight and could spend the night rooting for the Aussies. -

http://greyhoundbet.racingpost.com/#news-story/story_id=2126385 Looks like the new mayor is throwing the decision back to Merton Council - which seems to prefer the Football plan. -

Thats good news. If their machinery is up to scratch I can see them making it a 3 way battle for the top spot. Last couple of times the Russians have taken the WC seriously they have come up with shock wins in Vojens and Bydgozcz. Hancock will no doubt score heavily but the other 3 Yanks only got 5 points between them tonight. -
I was there that night. Only heard about the gun incident in latter years. The main incident, as far as the crowd were concerned, happened between Middleton and Mike Gardner, with the latter whacking the former over the head with his crash helmet. According to the Backtrack article a couple of years ago the incident with the gun in the pits happened a couple of heats before, which tallies with my battered programme as Heat 10 has Middleton excluded and Triggy in the race. The Gardner incident happened in Heat 12. I do remember the car driving through the crowds on the back straight with Middleton hiding beneath a blanket. For a 7 year old in his first full season of Speedway it was incredibly exciting!

We went to Coventry to watch him in the next round where mechanical gremlins put paid to his chances.
-
Were you at West Ham the night Triggy rode his socks off to get 3rd in the British Final? Has to be his career highlight?

Echo what others say. At least we got the right decision in the end.

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
salty replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Agree with the sentiment, but not the analogy. Gorillas are quite intelligent animals and I certainly don't think people go to the zoo to laugh at them. Don't think a Goriila would continually post on this thread saying people are daft for posting on this thread either. Even they would see how ridiculous that would make them look. -

What is this "putting the money up"? You agreed the 10k bet. Onus is now on Robert72 to declare who he is. Once that is done and it is accepted that he is a former rider, then the money becomes the issue. -
On the "Should ex-riders pay to get in" thread Speedibee posted the following.... Robert 72 , is Robert Jackson . used to have a second account called Jackson 2 Bwitcher then posted... The only Robert Jackson that appears on the excellent speedway database is this one.. Rob Jackson Born: 28.10.1944, Bradford, England British Clubs: Crewe (1969, 1970) Berwick (1970) Bradford (1970) Year..Club..Meetings..Rides..Points..Bonus..Average..Maxima 1969..Crewe..2..4..2..0..2.00 1970..Crewe..8..23..24..5..5.04 1970..Berwick..1..4..6..0..6.00 1970..Bradford..1..2..1..0..2.00 Read more: http://wwosbackup.pr...n#ixzz4EINb12Ff Whether thats true or not god only knows (or cares). As for Robert72 - for someone who is obviously so proud of his being an ex-rider and has mentioned it countless times, I find it strange you do not confirm who you are. Your reticence will only confirm the growing, widely held opinion that you are a teller of tales. Like This Quote MultiQuote

Thanks for the reply, but don't really see how the answer proves you were "right by the words of Darcy". It sounds like you were aggrieved that the money raised has been spent on a house in Australia? As for you calling the Steve Brandon walk a "disgrace"..... I get your views on other disabled riders, but hardly a disgrace. -

You'll have to refresh my memory about your "view on Darcy". I just seem to remember you banging on about the need for an announcement about the exact nature of his injuries. -

Seriously? You used the same excuse when nobody supported your views on Darcy Ward. The faceless hordes who support you, but for some strange reason never post that support. -

I've never been a fan of Tai. I didn't like the way he got fast forwarded into the GP series and I loathed the "Woffy,Woffy,Woffy" hero worship he got from the Shouty twins. Certainly when he was younger he came across as a "Charmless Nurk" (copywright Norman Stanley Fletcher) when interviewed. But I hope he goes through the card on Saturday and the fans at Cardiff wave their flags in his honour, because maybe, maybe we could then put this bloody thread to bed. Edit: And I hope he doesn't sing that poxy National Anthem either. -

Pretty sure that Rory's charity or foundation sponsor the Irish Open. It is the only European Tour event held in Ireland and he plays in it.
