  1. Just aquired these Wright Wood original Photographs. Can anyone help with these identities please. Thanks. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jim.blanchard/photographs2.html
  2. All a rider can do is go out and win races. A comparison would be that Giacomo Agostini, (15 times World Champion, 122 GP wins etc etc) is all the all time best rider in road racing bar none. Jim Redman whom I know, only won 6 world championships, though in his meetings with 'Ago', he beat him more than the other way around. Ago will never be over took as the number one rider, but he could not beat Jim very often. Does that make sense as a anaolgy?
  3. That is brilliant Norman. I'm just thinking would Jack Young be the last Australian to be a world champion????
  4. Here is one for you Norman/Anyone. Peter Craven winner of the Tom Farndon memorial trophy at New Cross in 1959. To his left is Johnnie Hoskins, to his extreme right is Tiger Hart co-promotor and who is at Peter's immediate right?? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jim.blanchard...ven_hoskins.jpg More Photos from John Chaplin included. The one of Ron Johnson/Jack parker tossing the coin at a OZ v. England test is terrific.
  5. 1. Tony Rickardsson 2. Jason Crump 3. Nicki Pedersen 4. Leigh Adams
  6. My apologies Nick. You have now been added. Glad you liked it. It will be ongoing thing of course.
  7. Updated with more photo's etc etc. http://www.art-in-motion.co.uk
  8. Well done Norman a nice touch. Did you receive CD with New Cross photos I sent you last week? (All your gifts seem all to be coming at once ) Thats right Steve, Gus Kuhn ran a dealership at the Stockwell-Clapham area but for many years after Gus retired it was run by his son in law; Vincent Davey. When he retired it was sold off to a company called Wheels International that were really Harley dealers that tried BMW's but gave them up and went back to Harleys. Not sure what's happening there now though. Another old rider that run a bike shop in London was Joe Francis for many years. There was another ex-speedway rider that ran a shop in South London but with alzheimers kicking in, I just cant remember it for the minute. Anyone know? I'll know it straight away if you do.
  9. Nick, looking at the picture its quite a low res scan or you have reduced it right down because it breaks up if I enlarge it 50%. It looks like to me that Tiger is injured and is holding on to the left arm of the guy to steady him. I would say that it is more likely to be a friend or relative or his dad perhaps. As a contemporary photo the guy looks much older to be another rider/competitor. Tiger also appears to have a plaster across his nose in the shot. Hope that helps. Can you send me the one of the West ham riders warming up the bikes in the pits. Thanks, Jim
  10. I think you will find that the globe was yellow with a blue background Crouch. They could have used them for some earlier qualifying rounds though most of the pictures I have of PC he wore his Belle Vue one at the end of his career. Did they use them at the International and the Laurels perhaps etc? Anyone know? http://freespace.virgin.net/barry.briggo/bb_3.JPG Briggo wearing one.
  11. http://freespace.virgin.net/pete.craven/index.htm Peter Craven (gallery updated recently with new photo's) http://freespace.virgin.net/barry.briggo/index.htm Barry Briggs http://freespace.virgin.net/mirac.moore/index.htm Ronnie Moore http://www.ove-fundin.com Ove Fundin http://www.art-in-motion.co.uk New Cross Speedway (Unfinished more photo's and memorabilia from Mike Kemp to be included) Interesting to see your one though.
  12. As discovered by a lot of riders Rob that was not even in Maugers class.
  13. I do not think he was having a go at you Norman personally. You do a vey good job with your books and I am always buying them as they are inexpensive and of course you help me out with material for the web sites anyway.
