Someone noted the racing was better, probably to do with the rain that preceded the meeting, I would say that the only time the racing is good at Shielfield is when it rained before the meeting. 2018 saw only 2 very good meetings the 1st meeting against Glasgow and the last meeting against Peterborough, both of which were preceded by quite heavy rain the day before.

Apart from at International level you are probably correct, very little difference between Premiership and Championship. Is there a case for Championship becoming Semi Professional , the rider gets a proper job to keep him and rides speedway as a hobby, certainly not the crowds to support speedway at this level for it to be a full time job

It isn't price for me, I do understand when you are in a low paid economy like Berwick and the Borders, it can be a financial strain. I havn't been to speedway at all this season, mainly because I have had quite a serious cough since January, I didn't want to aggravate it on a cold damp night. If it wasn't for Leon, I could take speedway or leave it, the entertainment value has almost disappeared, Berwicks track has become predictable, when you fill your programme in on the 1st lap 2nd bend, something is seriously wrong. I now understand when you have other interest how quickly you change your priorities.

Previous to speedway was an athletics track I believe, which would have been 440 YARDS, the present speedway track is 368 METERS. Was the original speedway track built on the footprint of the old athletics track, it must have been dug up as the foundations would have to be much stronger, and was the new speedway track 440 yards

Certainly not Peter, It does appear that some folk have a beef with me, not my problem however, as a paying customer I should be able to comment on what is concerning to the future of speedway. You can see for yourself the decline in the gate at Berwick, mainly caused by a less entertaining offer.

The shape is the same as it was in 1968, up until Peter Waite departed we had pretty good racing. Since then fans have complained about the shape, think it has more to do with the track prep, what a difference for the last half of 2017 season , when Nick Morris was with us, last season went backwards again.
