  1. Nice day, dry but overcast, not that warm, I would bring a nice warm coat
  2. I hear the 6.00 flight from Edinburgh was chartered by Berwick fans going to Prague
  3. C'mon George, he's more interesting than the actual speedway at the moment, show some charity to the afflicted
  4. It's not the fans fault Col, speedway itself has to change to bring back the fans, the product has to be enjoyable. So stop blaming the fans, the sport has to earn the loyalty of the fan
  5. I have not been to speedway this season, I promise you it is not because of the price. When you are filling your programme in on lap 1 bend 2, there is something seriously wrong, it has become so easy to take it or leave it if there is something else to do. I don't know how to put it right, or even if it is to late to put it right, I hope it survives, but while it is the fans fault for not supporting speedway, as opposed the Promoters correcting their mistakes over a long period of time, I fear for it's future.
  6. I applaud your optimism, sadly I can think of at least 30 fans that I can say are 'DIE HARDS' will not be there as they will be at the GP in Prague
  7. Still say cost is not the issue, but the product itself that is the problem, fans have fallen out of love with the way speedway is run and presented
  8. Apart from Col, I still don't think the cost is the issue. The fans that are left are the die hards, who would probably pay £20, might moan a bit, but would still probably pay it. If the crowd is about 500, they would need 350 more to stand still, the whole exercise doesn't seem to make business sense. There must be a way of leaving the entrance cost the same, and getting some discount vouchers out to people who no longer attend.
  9. The reason supporters are not coming is a lot more than the price, major factor these days is the product itself
  10. Jordan is only 15, talented young rider, took an interest in him riding with Leon Flint
  11. Not taking into account the loan fee situation, I will repeat my opinion from out of season. The only rider I would have brought back from last season was Busk Jacobsen, with a ? on Summers. But hey ho ! we are where we are.
  12. using that argument, David Meldrum would have been dropped , and also Michael Makovsky who was nearly always in double figures at home but his average remained around 7 because of his poor performances on many of the Southern tracks
  13. Probably earning to much as a Czech speedway presenter for Czech TV
  14. If those clubs were a financial success would the promoter have sold them, or was the truth more they were not making money but only breaking even. As a businessman its is prudent to get the best return for your investment.
  15. Generally no sensible business person would put money into speedway, after 'Due diligence', it would not make common sense. As in Glasgow's case you would only invest to save something you enjoy, in essence a Sugar Daddy a person with to much money who does not mind losing some of his pocket money.
  16. The rain over Friday night was persistent until about 6.00 am, light rain during the early morning, and one heavy shower Saturday afternoon. The heavy rain was in reference to the 2 meetings in 2018, heavy rain on the Friday before both meetings
  17. The first time I had used the Tweets as Proboards could not find a texter. Proboards Updates are much clearer and engaging than the Tweets, no comparison between the two, Proboards VERY GOOD, Tweets VERY POOR, in my opinion of course.
  18. I don't mind criticism, but it would be more helpful if you were to enter into debate, and put forward your ideas to help stop the demise of speedway not just at Berwick but in the wider context. It's quite obvious there is a problem, and the longer it persists the more likely that it will fail, now is the time to get everyones heads out of the sand and be realistic. Would hate any other club to be where Workington are now
  19. The main point was I think , that the track was better after heavy rain. On Saturday cannot comment, as yet again was not in attendance, .. Couldn't follow meeting on Updates as no Updater, as for the Tweet link IT WAS REALLY REALLY TERRIBLE
  20. it appears at the moment, any negativity is from the people who are complaining about the negativity on the forum. I haven't experienced a great deal of negativity in recent times on this forum The demise of speedway in the UK is not just happening in Berwick, but at nearly every speedway club in the UK, Berwick has to take responsibility for it's share in the demise, as all promoters are culpable in it's organisation, or lack of it. When the cost of running a business outstrips it's income, then it is doomed to fail, it is then incumbent on the business to bring it's cost in line with it's income. It does however appear that in many cases promoters are increasing the prices it bring themselves in line with their expenditure. The net result in a very cash strapped society, they have out priced themselves, and it is no longer affordable. This is the main reason crowds are falling, time to stop blaming the customer and provide what the customer wants to buy at an affordable level.
