Berwick 2017 50th Year
balderdash&piffle replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The consensus before the new ownership, was, no. He needs nurturing, I think Berwick will hold him back, Who knows though. -
There was me thinking the Manager was a guy who turned up, arsed around for a couple of hours looking important, then got pissed in the bar afterwards.

OK should have used a different description 'ANCIENT'
-
You always will pal, good OLD faithful

The main thing is fans support this event, for what it is and does. Irrespective of who is riding in it. SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT, so important to speedway.

I think they are doing a lot of work on the 3rd and 4th raising it a little from the bottom. I think all of the boards and posts have to be changed aswell -
Just thinking of the incident at Berwick a few years back, when if I remember right it was Scud Smith and Paul Fry, both went through the fence and over the concrete barrier, hitting 2 fans who were walking by at the time. Surely insurance is a necessity. 38 % voted leave 37% voted remain 25 % did not vote. This government forced the unions to have a minimum of 50% of its membership to vote for a strike, the same rules should apply. 52% of those who voted voted voted to leave and not as you state 52% of the British public Totally agree, in fact every vehicle user should be insured to use the roads, and cyclists who ride on pedestrian footpaths should be locked up, disabled buggies should have to be blue badged, (any one at the moment can buy one and use it with no restriction) insured and restricted to 2 mph

One would, as in all third party public liability, either individually, or as a collective as in a team or club, the public should be covered for any injury that may occur to them. The problem has arisen because the UK tried to interpret the rules as only applyng to the public highways and not to a closed circuit.

One was a flier, but only after Theos tuner had tuned to a the standard he needed, unless of course Theo told me porky pies, which I doubt. -

Not a By-Law Norm, a covenant placed on the whole site by the late Shiel Dods, that it could only be used for sport. However covenants are no longer hard to get rid of. For those who think that Berwick Councilors are on the side of speedway, think again, it must be said that Berwick Town Councillors have no say in planning matters, it is Northumberland County Council who have jurisdiction over that. Sure he hasn't polished 3 engines If so hope they are not from source that Theo Pjipers came from, which were bog standard GMs that had to be tuned properly ,before they could be used competitively. -

Same as all the other teams, team chosen, don't know what will really happen and we are just waiting. On the bright side it's only 3 months to go, to happier times, hopefully -

No goalposts being move, 52% of those who voted voted Leave, but it only equates to 38% of voters available to vote. In speedway terms, your team gets a crowd of 1000, and your club has a perception of having a problem with the track. Your club decides to ballot the 1000 fans, 380 vote there is nothing wrong with track, 370 vote the track has problems and will no longer attend if something is not done, 250 did not vote and are so pissed off, they don't care, as they are not going any more. The result is a majority for those who voted, and the club must listen to this majority, how much of a chance does your club have in surviving.. My conclusion would be NOT MUCH, but hey ho ! it's a majority so they will have to put up with it -

To be fair that is a mis -statement, Scotish people overwhemingly voted to Remain as did Northern Ireland. The overall result in the UK was 38 % leave 37% remain and 25 % did not vote. This Government imposed on UK unions that a ballot to strike must be 50% plus of the membership available to vote, some double standards here as only 38% of available voters voted to leave. All International Companies must have a 66% qualitative majority to change their constitution.. In the sense that this is our voting system works, then it is a majority, that is why the Government in power only ever represents about 1/3 of the population. Dont like the woman, mind I cannot stand that May woman either, but she is representing what the majority of Scottish people voted for, of all political persuasions. -
