  1. We seem to be worried about Denmark, Sweden and Poland, so we must be in serious trouble. Czech had to make massive changes even in how the meeting is run and the amount of riders on a ,night , however they did it and speedway is starting to recover, they are starting to go back to to the traditional structure now
  2. Tuesday and Thursday, but if their main day is Tuesday then I suppose the alternative is the Thursday along with Monday for The Premiership . I am not sure why it is Premier not a massive difference between the 2 top tiers although the 2nd tier always seems to suffer because of the problems created in the top tier. There is an opportunity now to bring everything together as one product and sort out the problems, as it strengthens, then consideration could be given to split back into 2 products. At the moment the top 2 tiers are fragmenting and becoming less and less attractive to the paying public, and without the paying public keeping it going, IT'S GONE.
  3. Best bet way if there are 2 leagues would be Monday/ Tuesday Premiership and Friday / Saturday Championship, freeing up Wednesday / Thursday and Sunday for riders who ride in Sweden, Denmark and Poland. Might not be a bad thing to use all of the available riders from all 3 leagues, they may be lesser riders and a lot of the overpaid big hitters causing the financial problem will depart and allow speedway to recover. By making it more of an Amateur speedway, will take the financial pressure off the clubs, and help them recover and grow. There is no doubt drastic changes in the way speedway is run need to take place in November. It is unlikely to change in my opinion, as speedway is like an old dinosaur, run by dinosaurs who have tinkered at the edges for years, generally changed little and in most cases making it worse.
  4. With the amount of teams who may not be running next year, the only common sense decision is to run one league. The so called Premier league (Elite) has been pandered too for far to long, to the detriment of the better run 2nd tier Championship league. The race rules need a drastic overall and massively simplified, and need to stop pandering to the riders and involve the fans more, after all no paying fans, no speedway.
  5. Is speedway a job ? I rode Enduro for Yamaha representing Wales as well, it was a hobby. If there is not enough money in just speedway, then get a job to care for your own needs then any income from speedway can subsidise your hobby. Isn't that how it used to be, you have riders in the 3rd tier and the 2nd tier especially think they are superstars whos demands on the sport are unrealistic. This year because of doubling up as turned the play offs into a total farce Looking at it from the riders point of view is killing the sport, too much self importance. Design a set of rules and implement them
  6. Doubling up is a travesty, and should be stopped immediately, NO RIDER SHOULD IN 2 LEAGUES, LET ALONE 3
  7. Didn't think Bridger was a good choice , proved to be right, more about him than any injury. Wouldn't touch Garrity with a 10 ft bargepole, ask the Seffield Promotion, apart from that he aint been that good this season. If you want someone from Redcar has to be Ben Barker, but he loves it at Redcar
  8. See you all there, after speedway party on Sat night, GIMLET DISCO BAR, just up from THE EURO HOTEL , 2100 hrs till o5.00 hrs. HAPPY DAYS
  9. We dont have any of these problems at Berwick
  10. I always liked Keith,I suppose it's a Workington thing, local guy does well doesn't go down well, we have the same problem in Berwick, Berwick folk cannot stand another Berwicker to do well
  11. Is the nature of a Cumbrian, would argue with themselves in an empty room
  12. Think Berwick would be dead in the water if it was not on a Saturday night, an occasional mid week is OK but not on a regular basis.
  13. 8.89 piss poor ??????? not one of my favourite riders, but piss poor, no way.
  14. Glasgow have nothing to be embarressed about, however it does prove that money does not guarantee success
  15. All of this nonsense and not a mention of the only decent thing that came out of Scotland, TUNNOCKS TEACAKES, oh and perhaps Bellhaven Bitter.
  16. Bet The Owen Bros had a job as well, semi pros, perhaps the problem lies there, treating speedway as a job and not a hobby. I rode Enduro in the 70/80s, although I rode for my country , it was very much a hobby and not my proffession
  17. As I said how big is the round, 3, 5,6,7,10,20, the statement was an irrelevance. A round for 10 in Pardubice when at the Golden Helmet is 300czk roughly £10 at todays exchange rate, last year it worked out at £7
  18. That a Banks's pub, Is Davenports still available
  19. you said you could not get a round for £20, not £15.a round is as big as the amount of people in the round, so if there was 10 in a round it would be £30 but if only 5 in the round it would be £15, The statement about the round is ambiguous and largely irrelevant
  20. Paulco already knows, a pint of Bell Haven is £2.80, an d a pit of Tennants lager is £3.00. I bought a round for 6 on Saturday it cost £17.40 3 pints of beer and 3 pints of lager. In my favourite pub I get a pint of locally brewed REAL ALE for £3.10
  21. I would pick new friends pal, I suppose a round for 7 people would be around £20, if it aint you are drinking in the wrong place
  22. Cardiff is a once in a season event, a holiday at speedway for many fans. We have 6 million JAMs in the UK (just about managing) get real, these guys need to fed their family first
  23. £20 is a lot if you are on a low income and have to prioritise , in the last 6 years hourly rates have been driven down whereby the minimum wage of £7.50 per hr has become the norm. You may be lucky, like myself, if I want something I can afford to get it, not everyone is that fortunate
  24. Speedway has never been a bikers sport, hardly know a speedway rider that rides a road bike. I only got involved in 1996 sponsoring a local lad David Meldrum, initially didn't go to watch him going round 4 times in a circle or oval
