  1. Under 16 you are a Minor, and cannot enter a contract. I am not sure what the arrangement is about the NL training fee, but I am assuming that a higher league can sign him, and he could become their asset as long as the training fee is paid. In saying all of this , I believe the asset base is a nonsense, and if the BSPA were not a private club, assets would not stand up in employment law if ever challenged.
  2. I need to correct the above:- As Leon is under 16 he cannot be an asset of any club, I have been informed there is an unwritten rule, that when you move to a higher league, the club pays the NL a training fee based on the riders average per point
  3. No reason if Leon wants to ride for Berwick, he will ride for Berwick, his decision only. Remember he is only 15 in February, so can only ride at NL level next season, Birmingham will give him that ideal start. I know I have a bias, but if it goes the way it should do, he may be too good for Berwick ( sorry my Berwick pals, I want the best for Leon). Sometimes riding for your local club is not always a good thing for the rider, it can hold them back.
  4. Rules were changed about 2 to 3 years ago, if you sign for a NL club you are their asset. I think it was done because the NL club brought on the young riders and when they moved up to PL level they lost out on their investment in the rider. And a good thing too, but there should really be know assets as they are all self employed. , and no retainers are paid. I know, but we have nothing else to talk about at the moment, and he is very much a Berwick lad, working in the pits on a Saturday when he is not riding, you could say adding to his knowledge for the future.
  5. A massive well done to Leon Flint, becoming a Birmingham asset, I think with the new management set up at Birmingham, this is an ideal launch pad for Leons future speedway prospects. I really enjoy sponsoring Leon and am proud to have Taffys Time Machine on his bike, he really is one of the most appreciative speedway riders I have dealt with, especially from someone so young. This young lad knows what he wants and will do his very best to achieve it. Question for you all. WHY NOT SPONSOR LEON, Does not matter how small or large that may be, every little helps, to Leon he appreciates equally whether its a £10 or a £1000 sponsorship.
  6. Surely back handers have been indemic for years in the world of speedway
  7. Fer foofs sake, I am damned sure that George will do his best to maintain speedway in Newcastle, and if he does not, it will not be for the want of trying.
  8. Love Roy, cannot understand a word mind, that applied to Mrs Barrie also.
  9. 2017 Champ Lea green sheets final issue States averages eg Tom Bacon 2.67
  10. Hes only asking would I consider JPB, not that he has signed Or did you mean the 2 pt average rider
  11. Looking at the 2s & 3s available, he has as much chance as those that are available, so YES
  12. You in the 5% Dick. Old club with new owners, time to think differently than the past. In my book you should never look backwards only forwards, those people who remember the Old Days need locking up or a put out of their misery. Onwards and upwards Just dont see him increasing that average, a No 1 who holds is average is OK the rest must increase Crowd levels started well last season with the enthusiasm of new owners, but was pretty poor for the 2nd half of the season, sponsorship sustained the club more than crowd levels. A lot of old die hards have gone or even died off, free entry for young ones is good, but it is yet to be proven whether they will convert into paying fans when they are old enough. Think you are right , if a team can be assembled that can challenge will keep fans happy ish, Berwick unlike Glasgow cannot afford to buy a team to challenge. It should however have the knowledge to assemble a challenging team, I hope they do not surround themselves with old pals within speedway, good management decisions will be needed, no loyalty when you are running a business
  13. I know it you know and everone else as well, just pointing out if you want success hard decisions have to be made. My suggestion for Kevin Doolan is lose him as a rider, but employ him as a manager. I like Kev and I like his attitude to speedway, but the team needs to move forward, so for me nether Kev or Aaron Agree on that, for the rest every rider will need to increase their average, several of those mentioned will not
  14. Need each rider to increase his average, Morris at No 1 may not but probably does not need to. Is Etheridge going to have a 2nd season dip, cannot see Summers, Howe or Doolan increasing averages, not sure if Greaves will I can see JPB increasing. Drop Doolan bring in Busk Jacobsen he might increase perhaps for one
  15. With the new rules this season, especially with the the return of the tactical substitute rule. It is absolutely vital that the first priority is the No1 rider backed up by No3 & No5 very competent riders then the No7 (who it does appear is already in place), the other 3 you can then slot in depending on points available
