  1. Point taken but if you read through the posts, especially post 31 you will see what I mean. it says 'Nigel Pearsen confirmed it on twitter; This was posted after the post saying he has broken arm etc So. yes I may have missed your post but I stand by my point. There were rumours of what he had done at Arlington before the Ambulance had left the stadium!
  2. What, you really think Eastie are going to end a 30 odd match losing away streak. Dont worry, the points are all yours! Hope you are right though as I am going and am desperate to see us win away. Would be so nice to go back to the days when the was 4 points ar so between us home and away. I used to love Wolves matches home and away as you could never call it.
  3. Why is it we get such conflicting 'confirmed' news in speedway! Just a few posts back we have Nigel Pearson 'confirming. a broken arm on twitter and now we have Peter Adams 'confirming' broken hand and not arm. Why do people post before they know the facts! Yes, it may give then 5 mins of Glory for being first with the news but they look like idiots when they turn out to be wrong! As for the crash it was quite a strange one. As far as I was concerned, watch from the home straight, Tai had got the lead and was going to win the race. he did not seem out of control, he didnt seem to lift or anything. 9 times out of 10 he would have scraped along the fence and knowing Tai, would have wound it on and kept the lead but suddenly he was through the fence. It was one of those when you coud hear the whole stadium take an intake of breath and then breath out when he got up and breath in again when he collapsed back on the track in pain.
  4. Looking at all this, I think it is possible Eastbourne could get in the playoffs due to rain offs. 7 matches to ride away and rain offs coming thick and fast. What happens if a team fails to get a match in by the end of the season? do the points go to the away team? Also, when rearranging a rainoff. Does the away team have the right to refuse a date given if he has rider availability issues? Say for example Coventy offers a date when Joonas and Cam are long tracking, Eastbourne say no, we wont ride that date. Where do the points go if Coventry cant find another date?.
  5. Horrible crash for Tai. I hope he is OK but would be surprised if he is. You could hear him crying in pain from the other side of the track. Kind of made the meeting a bit dull really. Sure, I wanted Eastbourne to get all the points but would have much rathered had a close match and 5 rides from Tai. Impressed with Menzares Scotty looked better then his points suggested. PK hopeless, bad night or is his form on the way down? Tai not great Danny not great Joonas fast Cam pretty good Bjarne quick Stevie Worrel and excellent guest again All the best for Tai
  6. hey everyone. I think i have the answer to turn this all around. Everyone says they want entertainment and we need crowd levels up. We want to see no more guest bookings and rider replacement. But instead of taking things back to basics let go the full hog. Lets go down the rout of WWF.....sorry I mean WWE Have everything scripted and staged. bring in stunt riders to provide crashes every now and then. But have the racing planned in advance. Just imagine, everyone could have their chance of winning. There would be no averages or anything just close and exciting racing at all tracks. The top 9 or ten teams could go in the playoffs and the BSPA management.....no, Hollywood script writers could decide who wins. Maybe the team who was 8th or something wins the league because of a couple of bad ref decisions and the crowd could boo and shout at him and when the rider comes back on the track that should have been excluded, everyone boos at him, even though he was not at fault. Hang on a minute........ And yeh, when Lets say Poole win the league, Darcy Ward goes on the center green and takes the microphone and the crowds goes silent as he says. "The title is ours, we are the mighty Poole and no-one will take it from us" but hang on who is this walking on the center green, its Nicki Pedersen. Everyone is booing and hissing and throwing tissues and burger wrappers on the track. Nicki takes the microphone and stares Darcy down and says "Yes, I am back. Eastbourne have signed me for next year, There will be a Pedersen at number one next year but he aint no ex Poole rider, Its me and I am gonna be meaner and harder than ever" He turns and spits on the grass and looks at the fans "Be very scared cos Eastbourne will be back next year and when we come to Poole we will take u down, he turns and shows Darcy his back. "get used to this darcy, you will see a lot of it next year" The 3 Eastbourne fans between turns 1 and 3 are now jumping for joy, well two of them are because the other one hates Nicki P but the others are and so excited about next season...............................hang on, oh no, I am just dreaming, Well I would take anything over no speedway at all and it looks like thats what I will be getting. I'll take the farce any day
  7. Cam was interviewed last night and he said that both teams were keen to race but after the rain at 6.30 it rendered the track unrideable. he did not seem to blame the ref or the track staff, just the weather.
  8. Cant believe Eastie managed to drop a point last night. We needed all the points at home and to pick up a couple away to stand any play off change IMO. I was very impressed with Aaron Summers. Not just with his wins but his reaction when he didnt win. You could tel from his body language that he was gutted when he ran a last. Good on him! As for Timo, What was that? Sorry, I dont get the Agent Bjarne thing at the best of times but can someone explain how dropping point to Coventry helps Poole. Surely if he was a Poole agent he would do everything he can to get us in the play offs and then score badly. Wouldnt Poole rather have us in the play offs the Coventry? As for the unfair track grading thing. i would suggest that the riders dont give a dam otherwise something would be done. These allegations have been thrown around by away fans for years but never anything official. Its either not happening, legal or a figment of away fans imaginations. Why does the management not go over to the gate graders as say "scuse me mate but can you grade 2 and 4 as well"? and then again in the next race and keep doing it and if they refuse, report it to the ref every time. eventually something would have to be done, As for the excessive grading. Yeh, even eastie fans get a bit fed up with the contant laps by the tractor but then again. I have seen numerous Sky and away matched where ruts have caught out riders home and away, Maybe he is just trying to keep a safe track,,,,,,,oh no, of course, he is trying to provide an unfair track! (I revert back to the previous paragraph!) Well, the good news is next year we wont be around and everyone will have to find another track to moan about the most! Sorry Lakeside
  9. Put it this way. I arrive late because of a closed road but I was not worried about get my usual spot!
  10. Must admit, I was a little worried that Eastbourne might struggle with the loss of Lewis. I said to my son before the match, we will need Joonas to find some form to cover for the points that we drop through Lewis. And he did!! I thought that Davey Watt looked better than his points suggested. Certainly two of his races we the races of the night as he through everything at trying to get past. Steve Worrel was excellent and it was a real shame we didnt have Lewis as they could have been some good clashes. I am not sure Swindon are the ones to take 4th off of us, I think the best chance of that lies with Coventry and unfortunately, I think they will do it unless we can pick up an away win or two. I have forgotten what that is like!
  11. Yeh, he can be pig-headed but I think he feels he makes the right decisions for the right reasons. He says he is worried about going Premier League as he feels the crowds may drop of even more. I must admit, I am not sure of that one. Maybe a competitive team in the premier league would bring the crowds back but say it competitive? Would it get even worse? We are doing OK this year. Been in a playoff place all year and pretty good at home. Away form stinks but why should that affect a home crowd? We have lost fans and although there are problems at Eastbourne I am not sure they are any different to 5 or 6 years ago. We used to have the best unofficial forum on the net, with more posts than even the Poole Forum used to get but now these fans have gone and when I looked a while ago, the last post on tonight's match was 2 days ago! The thread about finding a new promoter has posts from 6 posters! Is this really down to the promotion or is it just a natural downward trend that is hitting EB first due to the massive catchment area? There are so many people that think they have all the answers but they are just sitting behind their keyboards coming up with ideas like "Why don't they advertise" "Why don't they go Premier League" Imagine its your own money. You have lost £200,000 and a radio campaign is going to cost £5000 or £15000 or whatever. Do you want to spend it and risk losing more money. I myself have seen advertising do nothing more than cost money and bring no return. The only thing I do think they could do is talk to the fans more. The chances are, if they sent someone round at tonight's match, or the next Saturday match to talk to everyone they might find some answers. I bet everyone knows someone that knows someone that used to go. They are the people that need talking to....and ask them what they need to be enticed back? Why have they gone?? I have seen plenty of faces over the years that have stopped coming. I would love to ask them why they have stopped but I don't see them. Its all very sad.
  12. No worries, I agree you have every right to post what you like as long as its not insulting to anyone just as I do to reply. I do get on the defensive sometimes and having been going to Arlington to watch speedway for 43 years I have come to respect the Dugards in a way that fans from other teams may not understand. When you see Bob doing his endless laps on his tractor he looks or when you here some of the thinks he says you could be lead to believe he is an arrogant bloke who's first interests are not speedway but I have spoken to him on many occasions and trust me, he is passionate about the sport and the club. Having the successful business has clearly helped fund speedway and yes, if speedway had been a business in its own right, it would have finished years ago. I really hope something can be done to save it for next season but I dont hold up much hope.
  13. Amazing how people seem to be so in the know. So explain how offsetting against Dugard Machine Tools means he has not invested this money in to the club. I own a business and yes, You can write sponsorship off against profits and hence, pay less tax but trust me, If I invest £1 to sponsor someone. My company loses that £1 and I have £1 less profit and hence £1 less to draw my dividends from. I don't get a magic £1 back from the tax man. The reason your comment was labeled as nasty is because bay making the statement you made you are insinuating that the money Bob has invested in to the club over the years is meaningless or insignificant. Yes, he is a wealthy man because he has invested his life and sole in to the running of a successful family business and then spent a great deal of his money into his beloved team. Nasty, because you choose to make a snide comment on a thread discussing the possible end to yet another speedway club. Yep, Nasty
  14. Glad to see that but sorry you were messed around. My son is just starting out in speedway and I am so impressed by the amount of people that want to help out, Last thing you need is idiots conning people
  15. How would that be enough when Bob says they have lost 200k If it saved the sport I would consider putting a grand in but what about next year and the next and the next
  16. Out of interest, did this problem get resolved guys? Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding, yes?
  17. No Bob Dugard, no speedway. Not my idea of looking good for the future
  18. What a great meeting and I have to say it, what a great race track! I really started to believe at one time that Eastie could pull off that win we are so desperate for. Good effort from both teams with some cracking racing
  19. Such a shame this track is being slated for lack of racing/passing. It is one of the best tracks for viewing in my opinion and if they could sort the racing it would be a great place to watch speedway
  20. I completely agree. Booing one of your own riders is a disgrace. I am sure Joonas does not fly over from Europe with the intention of scoring little or no points. Believe it or not, Joonas is my favorite Eastie rider and I would much rather see hime turn his form around than go but I have been thinking that for too long now!
  21. I have always listed Scott as my favorite non Eastbourne rider. Firstly he is a dude. Secondly, he is a great rider Thirdly, he is polite, friendly and always comes across well when approached by cameras and fans I really rate him.
  22. What is it about fans. You have Eastbourne fans accusing KL fans of be arrogant and KL fans accusing Eastbourne of cheating. Why cant we just all enjoy our sport the best we can without slagging everyone off at any opportunity? KL fans are not arrogant Eastbourne promotion dont cheat. Surely we are all effectively on the same side anyway and that's the fact we all support speedway. The way its going, non of us will have speedway to watch in 5 years or so. As for the match. I am surprised EB pulled of a win last night. Joonas must go Bad ref decision on the exclusion.
  23. I love the idea of that. Sealed units form Jawa or GM Would almost certainly improve the racing aswell
  24. Looks like the end! Who would take over something that sucks so much money. Although I am absolutely gutted, I salute Bob and the rest of the Dugards for keeping speedway going so long. I have been going since 1971 and cannot imagine not looking forwards to the new season every year. I am close to tearsI have to say. I absolutely love speedway and the Eagles. It been part of my life for most of my life.
