It must have been a hard decision to call this off when they did and they must have been praying for rain once they had but I feel for them. There is always someone unhappy when rain comes in to play. If they cancel after a few heats they get slagged off for not calling it earlier. If they call it off and the weather is good, they get slagged off for calling it off. If they get through to heat 12, they get accused of allowing a match to go on with little racing in poor conditions and are accused of conning us out of our money. I rarely complain about the promotion because I dont run a speedway club but what I do run is a business and I have to make decisions every day that may be questioned by my engineers my peers and my customers. Some are wrong, some are right (I would like to think most of them) but all are made by weighing up what I think is best all round. Thats what Connor and Martin are doing. And a hell a lot of what they have done this year has been right! -

Still my most painful memory is speedway (Other than seeing riders badly hurt). My kids were inconsolable and I was not far off and so soon after the memories of my best moment in speedway, when we won the league in that awesome match against Kings Lynn. I have always wondered if that was the match that gave Sky the idea of the playoffs! -

Should make it a double header NT and NL -
Who would you have dumped out the team to get Mason back in?

Eastbourne Eagles Vs Birmingham Brummies 23/8/15 Nl
stevec replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Agree about Ellis, he looks every bit a Premier/Elite league rider. On the day BWD really had no answer for him. I didn't take Drurys comments the way others did. I think us 'Southerners' can sometimes take Northern (North of the Watford Gap) accents as moaning when in fact its just the way they talk. Look at Peter Adams, he sounds unhappy when he is happy! Looking forwards to the Birmingham match. I think that Birmingham will win and that will be the title race all but over but I believe that Eastbourne are capable of a result with some luck and everyone on form. Also, I think the likes of Georgie, Bradley and Daniel will thrive on a grippy track, bring it on! -

I think Bradley Wilson-Dean may have something to say about your first statement (I take it you must mean the heat leader trio combined). Agree that Georgie and Richard could be rusty but even if they are I think we will get all the points -
I think he is right. Its just a shame we could not pick up some away wins early in the season. That has made in extremely hard to chase down Birmingham now and probably means we have to win AT Birmingham.
-
Would be great to have a 7 man team with no guests (although our guest at Kent was superb). I just hope that Georgie and Richard are not coming back too early as it is more important to have then back for all these FINALS we are in!

Eastie MUST get all four points! No early slip ups like the last home match. With Daniel at reserve I think we will clean up and Birmingham wont even get a sniff at a point. (that's assuming that Len sour grapes Silver doesn't get him banned) I predict a win by 12+ for Eastbourne. -
I am beginning to feel like I know what it is like to be a Poole fan! Eastbourne threads are always the most visited and posted. The management will stop at nothing to bring in the right replacements when required and then the rest of the league spit and moan and come up with reasons why we shouldn't have this rider and that rider in the team. Hate to say it but it feels quite good actually. I would just like to fill the main stand the way Poole do, that would be good. Interesting seeing the mathematics around winning the league. I think its a long shot but it will be good if we could do it. Some silverware must be coming our way for sure.

Kent Vs Eastbourne Monday 17th August 6:30pm
stevec replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
They gave us a bit of a scare at Arlo as well. I hope for a win tonight and expect one but wont be confident until the mathematics say so. -
What fuss?
-
Well, looks like this management team will 'leave no stone unturned' to find riders when required. Hats off to them. As much as I am excited about the new signing, it is tainted by the fact that Kelsey is stepping down again. I have to say I like nothing more than to see a Dugard, line up at the tapes at Arlington. I really hope he has a future at Arlington.

All I can say is WOW!! A thread started with the intention of slagging Nicki off ending up full of posts of support. Real good to see. -
Eastbourne V Buxton Sunday 09/08/2015 3.30 Pm

Well hats off to Mark then, without his performance we would have lost! Falls cost us dearly yesterday and I guess most of that was down to the track. I hope they bring back Saturday night racing next year. It seemed like they could do nothing about the dust yesterday. I worried at one time if we were going to have the embarrassment of the meeting being cancelled due to the dust. -
I have to say that was my worse ever away experience. Not just the results but the journey up was horrific, took almost five hours, the racing was rubbish and the result was rubbish. Only two highlights really. One was Mark Owen keeping someone behind him for 4 laps, cant remember who as I had lost interest by this stage and was not looking at or filling in the program and Kelseys last race where he was giving it everything to try and pass Shane Hazelden....oh and that was the other highlight, I good match for Shane, who is a good friend of my son and a local Crowborough lad.
-
True and I tend to agree that we probable wont win but I don't think u can write us off anywhere. Every match we have had away, we have been there or thereabouts. Would have been great if the Elite league team could have performed the same.
-
As much as I think we most likely wont win I think simply saying we 'wont' win at Birmingham. We pushed them to within 5 points last time and were 4 points ahead at one time.
-
Hope they call it off before I leave if they do. We have, have ,have to win this. Simple!
-
Brad has definately been the 'best; rider of the year but my rider of the year vote will go to Georgie
-
Well hearing Brad being interviewed at the weekend it sounds like he is thinking of being with us next year. Maybe he will be going Elite League and National. I take it he could be a draft rider for Elite League,

Eastboourne Vs Kent Koc Semi Final
stevec replied to catinthehat's topic in National League Speedway
Well, that's it then. We are in the final and over two legs we can beat anyone. Bring it on. Well done to Kent though. Although the aggregate result never really looked in doubt, they certainly made a match of it on the night.
