  1. I haven't moaned but then standing in the sunshine with my cousin, my two sons and my sons girlfriend at Arlington does not seem a chore to me. The only time I really get annoyed is after an unsatisfactory start when the riders want 5 mins or more to get back to tapes, I believe there should be a 30 second warning to get back to tapes the minute the red lights come on. I really cant see what the promoters can do about so many incidents. I cant really comment on track prep as I know nothing about it. What I do reckon is if all the people who have moaned on here were to become the promoters at Arlington next season, there would be just as many keyboard warriors finding something to moan about at them! Maybe a meeting would run quicker but trust me,,,,,there would be something wrong!
  2. I really don't see the relevance of that, Eastbourne started with a level playing filed like everyone else. If anything it was harder as they had to find 7 new riders!
  3. I agree that what happened between the riders should be forgotten and I think it is already, I am certainly sure the fans are over it! Regarding the watering, I did get involved recently in helping Martin with a new one that they use in between meetings (I supplied parts and labour). I know nothing about track prep but I can tell you I learnt some interesting stuff during that time and one of these snippets was that if you put too much water down too quickly it simply runs off the track and does not get in to the surface. I am sure there are plenty of people on here that know more than me but I just wanted to share the fact that its not just a case of getting a watering system to put more water down. Even if it was that simple of course, there is the money issue of buying it!
  4. I think it started before that. George Hunter almost ran in to the back of Georgie Wood as he was slowing down and come out of turn to after the race. It seemed like George Hunter had gone past the tapes at such a speed he could not slow up for the corner and went round pretty much at racing speed, I dont think it was malicious. Georgie made a 'what the hell?' type gesture and I guess Alfie must have seen it so decided to rum in to Georgie on purpose. Georgie and Alfie than rode off having words and Rob decided to come flying at Georgie. Personally I have no real issue with a bit of agro between riders that have just raced each other but there was no need for Rob to get involved hence why he got the maximum fine I guess. BTW, for anyone thinking my view is biased, I actually like Rob and admire him as a rider. Regarding the legth of the match I really dont get the complaints about this. You only have to look in the program and the amount of exclusions and tapes offences to understand this. Much of the track prep was done while we were waiting for restarts and during the interval and regarding track watering. Just ask those standing on the grass banking at turn 4 and they will tell you it wasn't watered enough, cant please everyone I guess. For me, I loved the weekends racing. Nice close match at Rye House with a stunning accident without serious injury and then through to the final after an incident packed meeting at Arlington in glorious sunshine. Wonderful!
  5. I would have said that until some friends came round to see be on the stock car track, They had been standing on the grass bacnk between turns 3 and 4 and were covered in dust. I am not sure you can help meetings with so many exclusions being drawn out. One thing I would I would like to see is a 30 second warning to get to tapes after a false start.
  6. Gotta say I really enjoyed last night. I really love my visits to Rye House. Its not a bad journey, good food and I love the viewing there. Great match with some good passing from both sides and the result could have gone either way. Rye House fans must have been please with the victory but I think Eastbourne fans must have been the happier of the fans with the result. To leave just 5 points behind with Brad only having scored 3 points is a result in my book. Brads crash was horrific looking. I think thats the worst 'looking' crash I have seen since Steen Jensen took out about 3 boards at Arlington. How he walked away from that just holding his fingers is amazing! It looks like we may have lost him for the finals now which is a real shame.
  7. yes, it was one of those sickening crashes that leaves the crowd silence. Horrible.
  8. Didn't expect that response I must admit, good on you. I have edited my previous post also (as I had copied yours in it). I will be there.
  9. I think the only one I would be interested in is James Shanes but I cant see him going anywhere. I like the idea of E Spiller and C Powell at reserve.
  10. Crowds not great tbh, maybe up a bit in general but you certainly don't get to the stadium worrying that you wont get a good view and I really don't get why. The management, the team, the racing and the results have been a breath of fresh air this season. I do not believe there are any plans beyond NL next year. I was told that it does not cost a great deal less to run a Premier League team so I cannot see that happening.
  11. The 30th? What the hell!!! Looks like some cold November matches then, Either that or we end up with the finals not taking place.
  12. I gotta jump in and help catinthehat here as I think it looks like he is trying to find excuse for not winning the league. The reason is very clear, in the early part of the season we were getting close but not winning away and much f the time it was due to falling while leading races. Its that simple in my mind. I think we have beat everyone on aggregate (even Kings Lynn) so hence the confidence that we can do anyone in the cup matches, especially as we seem to have hit our best form at the moment.
  13. We did too, two matches against Mildenhall. Well, maybe that's what we should do then, we are running out of weekends after all.
  14. Ouch, I deserved that I guess, I must admit, it was a wee bit dusty!
  15. Why has this been changed anyway? I was looking forwards to the possibility of winning a trophy at Arlington for the first time in years on Sunday. I was going to suggest 2 double headers but then I remembered what happened with the last double header at Rye House!
  16. That would be great. No more KIWIs we could bring in as well are there. Len Silver would not be happy!
  17. Hope they are soon. Looking forwards to see who Eastbourne need to beat. Judging by the last performance at KL, I think I would rather Cradley
  18. Sorry, I meant Ruddick (I have edited my post) thanks for pointing that out. Not sure where the stuff about Spillers pay comes from and not sure I really care. Connor and Martin are running a business and if they feel he is worth the cost, good on em and if really really id riding for nothing, even better. As for last nights meeting. Not great speedway really but its the cup matches that matter and a good one sided match (or two) against Midly makes me more confident than I would feel if they had been exciting and close matches. The fact is, the team looks on it. Georgie looks super quick, Ben looks as quick as he has all season and lightning out the gate, Mark right on form, Keslsey staying on, Daniel brilliant, Richard a trump card at reserve and Bradders just being Bradders.
  19. Surprised there is not a thread for this one already. Does not bode well for the crowd tonight if there is a lack of interest. Naill Strudwick guesting for Mildenhall, in place of Luke Ruddick Shane Hazelden guesting for Connor Mountain Daniel Spiller in main team with Richard Andrews at reserve, win bt 15 in both matches I reckon Starts at 6pm Eagles: Richard Andrews, Kelsey Dugard, Ben Hopwood, Marc Owen, Daniel Spiller, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Georgie Wood. Fen Tigers: Tom Bacon, Connor Coles, Danny Halsey, Shane Hazelden (Guest for Connor Mountain), Jack Kingston, Nick Laurence, Niall Strudwick.
  20. Says on twitter they have been ordered. Still £90 short though
  21. Eastbourne did the right thing bringing Spiller in, it may be hard on Niall but its not unfair, spiller has the number 6 spot and he is faster. Regarding the paramedic, I think that is just speculation. You have to convince the away teams management, clerk of the course and the referee. I admit that a simple call can delay him/her but no-one knows this is the case. As for being unfair to the paying public, I know I would pay good money to see Daniel Spiller ride and certainly prepared to wait a while.
  22. Well done to the Brummies. Two brilliant teams with some great riders taking it down to the last heat. Completely gutted as an Eastbourne fan but we lost to a good Brummie team and like us, they have joined the NL and taken it by storm!!
  23. Dam it! Start time of 9pm (ish) was perfect for getting up there and not having to leave work early.
