Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 23/7/2014
Pirate Baz replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Everyone seems to be debating the two NKI incidents which could have gone either way (depending where your bias lies) but I thought the dodgy decision was with Rory and Vaclav. Rory went into the third bend too hot and couldn't turn, preventing Vaclav taking a natural line into the bend. He was left with no option other than to bale out, that or plough into Rory. -
Eastbourne V Poole Saturday 19th July 2014

Keep us advised on the weather please guys and gals. Possibly save us a pointless journey. -
You'll have a job to keep him as I believe he's being head hunted by the diplomatic corp. Everything that is wrong with Leicester is the fault of a 16 year old and 17 year old. Good for their confidence and a massive boost for team spirit.

Steve always goes round to the first/second bend for the final heat at Swindon to get out of the car park promptly. No 'sneaking' about it.

Belle Vue V Poole Monday 7th July
Pirate Baz replied to lionheart's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Now don't all shout at me as I'm a Poole fan, and not au fait with the finer points of the rules and regulations, but have been told by someone in the know that this does not apply to fast track riders. I'm sure others will tell me different, but do it nicely eh! -
Coventry V Poole Friday 20th June.
Pirate Baz replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm always suspicious when speedway promoters are quiet. It usually means they are covering up bad news. Surely they have spoken to their riders about their plans, and surely they have sourced guests by now. Then why are they keeping quiet? Probably having seen the line up's they don't fancy the meeting themselves. -
Poole Pirates Vs Leicster Lions 18/06/2014

Rumour that he will be riding at Coventry on Friday. -
I really can't believe how obsessed you all are with Steve. OK you're hiding that with sarcasm and jokes but you really are upset aren't you all? If you really want to have his babies why not contact him directly with your own special personal message, then perhaps this forum can return to speedway discussions.

He's a bit quicker than Dennis. He's not as bad as some people are making out. He's young, keen and gives it 100%.

Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 14/5/2014
Pirate Baz replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm still not sure this morning how we won that by 10. Lakeside must be gutted to come away with nothing as they deserved at least a point. Lawson was very impressive and well worth his 13 points. The new number 4, who Nij the announcer got confused over and kept calling Lewis Bridger had a lot of speed. The only time I suspected it might be Bridger was heat 14 when he took Ellis out and deprived the Hammers of a 5-1 that might well have earned them a point. But the heat leaders ........... 10 points between them from 13 rides. Our lot were inconsistent. Six of the seven achieved a heat win, but three of the top five had a zero on their against their name. Shamek being the notable exception, only denied his max by the superb Lawson in 15. I fear the reverse fixture on Saturday week. I can't see us getting close to the Hammers, but as I said in an earlier posting my predictions are rubbish. -
Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 14/5/2014
Pirate Baz replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Very good post 'Voice of Reason'. Constructive comment which is what there should be more of on this forum. We saw Mikkel Bech in the early season challenge and he was very impressive, and I agree Adam Ellis looks a very good prospect. I'm not making any predictions as I always get them wrong, but in this format we have three meetings in one. I think the Pirates will edge the 'heat leader' races, although I think Watty will have a good meeting this time. Hammers second strings will give Josh and Vaclav one of their toughest meeting of the year, especially if Bridger has his right head on, and I do fancy the Hammers reserves to edge the Pirates reserves. There I've sort of made a prediction ................. it will be a tight meeting. With my track record that means someone will win by 20. -
A lot of second string riders are going to have inflated averages in the new format. They have two races against reserves and second strings.

Err................................. Havvy's meeting is being staged at Poole. Matt Ford offered to stage the meeting. Poole have a social evening on Wednesday. More good PR for the loyal fans who regularly attend such social evenings from a professionally run club. Any other track has only to pick up the phone on a fans night (if they have them) and I'm sure Gary would speak there as well.

t has been said that as this is the ERC not the ELRC it is now an open meeting and riders are selected by invitation, in which case there is no obligation to ride. Whether this is fact I do not know for sure. Anyway what's the fuss. Both meetings will be rained off anyway being in March. I have heard that summer is due to be 2nd August this year.

Thing is this year we've three separate clearly defined elements to the teams, and although we haven't yet seen the race format by what's already been said it seems we will have 2 reserve races, 4 second string and reserve races, 4 heat leader and second string races and 4 (5 if heat 15 is taken into account) all heat leader races. Bearing in mind that some teams are as yet incomplete. So in my humble opinion, Kings Lynn, Coventry and Wolves have the best reserves. Lakeside, Leicester (Ljung plus 5.94 (?)) and Eastbourne have the best second strings (still some to be decided here). Kings Lynn, have the best three heat leaders, while Lakeside, and Swindon have a good top two, and with Ward at Poole and Woffinden at Wolves then they will pick up points in the heat leader races. Summary Kings Lynn are the team to beat with Swindon, Wolves, Belle Vue Poole and Lakeside forming the chasing pack for play off spots.
-
Good signing for you guys. Very entertaining and a 100% trier. Just a bit concerned about your third heat leader, bearing in mind there are likely to be four all heat leader races.
-
Must be a lot of closet Poole fans at Coventry. Horton recently commented about how much the gate increases when Poole are the visitors. I also read comments about certain tracks needing attendances in the high hundreds, I believe one track quoted 800, to break even. The attendances at Poole are regularly in the thousands so I guess we're not as 'fickle' as the other tracks.

Birmingham V Poole Grand Final 2nd Leg

Is that genuine or meerly speculation POP? What is your source? Would save us OAP's a trip and can also cancel our accommodation up to 1 o'clock. -
Birmingham V Poole Grand Final 2nd Leg

For the umpeenth time we would not have been at Belle Vue that night had it not been for Water(main)gate. Do you think that was honest and above board? We would have got 4 league points that night if it had gone ahead. -

If Dyer's not riding tomorrow does that mean we'll have a new man in the team ? -
