If you want to look for 'failings' i would look at the fact that very few clubs ever owned their owned tracks / stadiums when starting up or when the going was good. My only beef with the Polish league is their insistence, which they would love to bring in, that riders only ride in the ekstraliga and nowhere else, when it leads to a clear shortage elsewhere. I am not jealous of their success or the big tv money deals, good luck to them on that front.

Speedway in Poland will eventually ruin all the other domestic leagues. And will it grow any in that country at the expense of all the other nations? The recent statement of 139,000 viewers for each meeting on tv doesn't suggest so. I would also suggest 'huge' being put into perspective.

Should have introduced a Lucky Loser like Poland. They know how to do things right.

Poor attempt at deflection. Not even worthy of a lucky loser tag. -
Polish Extraleague Signings 2022

So according to the Speedway Star, next season a team could finish sixth out of eight, get beaten in the firat round of the playoffs and still go on to be champions! "Lucky Loser" -
Just another example for me of why Polish speedway will be the death of other domestic leagues

Polish Extraleague Signings 2022

According to Speedway star this week, Ekstraliga matches were watched by an average 139,000 viewers per meeting. Wonder how this compares to matches Sweden and Britain? Anybody know the figures from these leagues? -
Great news looking forward to next season

Just about nails it

National League 2021 - has it been abandoned?
topsoil replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in National League Speedway
Same applies to Berwick this season, their riders got significantly more track time and developed a lot more than they would in the NJL. The National League is a lot better standard the the NJL and i've yet to see a 'wobbler' as one has said on here. Hopefully both teams back in the National League next year. -
Bit windy in Kent last night?
-
Will never forget the night he crashed at Berwick on tv against Edinburgh. The whole stadium went deadly silent. Great team man and a good guy. Would have him back at Berwick in a heartbeat. One of the riders I always want to see do well. Must be made of rubber (or steel) to keep coming back from the injuries he has.

National League 2021 - has it been abandoned?
topsoil replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in National League Speedway
And yet if you looked back in this section a few years ago you would find a lot of posts about the makeup of the National League being all wrong, in that there was a big split between teams such as Belle Vue Colts, Kings Lynn Stars second team, then your standalone clubs like Eastbourne and Birmingham. Some clubs wanted success at all costs, some only wanted to develop riders and there was a big gap between them. And then there was the thorny subject of clubs being priced out of the league i.e. Buxton. Selective memories from some fans? -
Every team in every country has 'foreign' riders probably, that doesn't bother me. Neither does the fact that they double up / ride in other countries. For me it's a necessary evil because demand outweighs supply.
-
Also, good luck holding on to riders wanting to ride in more lucrative leagues if you say you don't want them to join a club outside the uk. You won't be left with many riders.
-
In an ideal world, yes. But good luck finding enough riders of a similar standard, willing to ride in this country, to make 'one big league'. Unless, of course, you need some tracks to close?
-
I would prefer British teams to concentrate on the British leagues
-
I know it's an unpopular view on here but i think Polish league speedway will eventually destroy leagues in all the other countries.

Mildenhall's title then
