Big difference. Poland have squads to select from, UK doesn’t. Just like Laguta did and they got a facility for him. Beyond corrupt. Why? Same with Laguta who rode all his rides in Poland but apparently ‘aggravated’ an injury earlier on this season. Kings Lynn got a facility. But I agree it’s corrupt.

Yes absolutely. The rule existed (or added to the 2022 rules) bizarrely and as usual completely cocked it up. As they always do. Make the rules clear and unambiguous. It should never be allowed to interpreted in any other way.

Gotta feel for the Witches (or any team losing riders for the play offs) as besides someone like Lambert or Laguta there isn’t a like for like replacement. Bomber sadly is a poor replacement even tho he will either be a match winner or score 3. The Aces again have the luck with them as missing Wright probably strengthens them a little. Still prefer to see 7 man teams tho.
-
But replaced him AFTER the cut off and only ever been allowed to happen once in the history of play offs. But after the cut off date to replace a rider, again only ever permitted one year in play off history. Exactly this, spot on.

So basically back to the same as every other season since play offs began! which makes 2022 even odder why it was changed and why they said no in the first place to the ringer coming in. Teams have suffered nearly every season when injuries strike, one team got lucky in 2022 that’s for sure. Either way sad to see teams chances ruined end of season for the play offs.

Peterborough v Wolverhampton 11/09/23

Picks and chooses his meetings. He is a disgrace to this league. -
Irrelevant. Class riders can ride any track.
-
Exactly! Harris, Nicholls the list is endless. SKY proved why Monmore was such a popular track. They always wanted it on the box. The track was always superbly prepared with Doc Bridgetts in charge and riders knew they were in for a well prepared track. Some riders never got on with it because they didn’t have the skill or technique to handle it well. It’s that simple. Class riders can ride anything. Emil is proof of that. I remember first time Gollob rode it it literally took him 6 laps to figure it. You need skill to ride it, pure and simple. Since Doc left the standard hasn’t been the same sadly. But track prep has always been pretty important to Wolves.

C Holder for Ellis is a strange one. He has shown zero interest in the UK (until this year when he signed (but didn’t) for the Panthers), is way past his best and will struggle to maintain his 7 pointish average imho. knee jerk reaction from the Tigers management in my opinion but good to see changes happening before the play offs start.
-
Exactly! They would be the most dangerous side in the play offs although I’ll admit it’s still a tall order.

Leicester vs Wolves 17/8/23
stevebrum replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Fricke has been much better riding for Leicester this season but often blows hot and cold whether it be in the leagues or the GPs -
Depends who asks and when. ;-)
-
Wins are wins irregardless of who it is and yes the win at Leicester was a good one however it’s Leicester who now look the vulnerable ones and will need the Witches to stop winning otherwise they could a play off place. Any team in form in September are the favourites for the title imho.
-
A team that’s on a role and winning match after match is always going to be favourites for the titles. Look what Coventry did some years ago sneaking into the plays offs in 4th and steamrollering Poole. The team in form will always win an end of season competition or at any point in the season. The Aces are fast running out of matches and could be left twiddling their thumbs waiting for others to catch up before the play offs. That’s a dangerous position to be in. My team Wolves have had that happen in the past, off form in September and limped out the play offs. IF Ipswich make the play offs no one will want to pick them.
-
World titles listed as New Zealander
-
Let’s face it, IF Ipswich win their remaining matches to reach the play offs no other teams will beat them in the play offs. If that happens good luck! (Except when at Wolves)!
-
I understand that’s your opinion. Haven’t you forgot Tai was part of the winning world pairs (nation) team? so 4 if you want to count all titles. The most decorated individual world champion in English and British history without question is Tai.
-
As many as you want or depends who asks. Both seem to apply this season. Some valid points however he wasn’t brought in for the play offs. He rode a month before the play offs started. Same as Hancock at Poole. All well and truly valid. That’s just opinions. Facts are he IS the most crowned English rider in history. You can’t disagree with facts. He IS the most crowned English world champion in history. Aces fans do like to cheer a rider falling. But then every club has that element too.

What does Tai Woffinden mean?
stevebrum replied to Hamish McRaker's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Exactly. -
Perhaps, it’s not really clear. The way I see it he is here as an injury replacement for Holder, unless Sheffield are going to be ruthless and axe another rider to fit Tai in.

Wolves like every track has had prep issues. Odd comment about tracks because he has been very vocal about UK tracks being poorly prepared and of course we have had the tyre gate issue at Peterborough and Pedersen didn’t even last a lap before being injured. Clearly the offer and timing suits him so he seems happy to skirt over that issue. -
Personally for me a rider that shows loyalty to the British leagues deserve more respect. Yes, I’m all for all the top boys being back in the UK top league and if the pay was good they would be it’s that simple. Take Lambert last season, purely here for the glory and just the play offs. Great to have him racing here but I have no respect for him or the Aces for that move. Great to have Woffy back absolutely. I’m no fan of Doyle but he deserves more respect for choosing the UK as one of his main leagues season after season. Any top rider back in the UK we should applaud however some are only here for glory/convenience/other clubs out the play offs/ extra pay check etc. Woffy is a GB legend and our greatest ever rider. He is only here for a few matches tho.
