I wouldn't say they'd be that bad mate no, infact I'd welcome the addition of Sanchez who as you rightly say goes well at our place as well as on many away tracks, the problem is if it means losing Wells to bring him in, no thank you. Ideally I'd like both he and Wells as our 3&4 for next year where I think they'd give our middle order the quality it's been lacking this season. As for the reserves I'd prefer James over Gino myself. Both similar in ability but James' gating ability, especially at the SBA makes him the stronger candidate for me. I see your point about Jesper and many Devils fans share your view. My issue isn't about what he's done so much this season but more what he can do next. Jesper was great at home but in the main he never made many passes and cannot ride the inside of the track as he is so tall. Plus the thing that puts me off him the most is his average of 5.93. Signing him as a reserve on 4.80 last season was worth the gamble, but on 5.93 I think he will struggle to maintain or increase that figure next season. Compare Jesper to someone like Kenny Ingalls who would be on a similar average but with far more potential to score more than Jesper both home and away. Don't get me wrong, Jesper wouldn't be the worst signing in the world but he wouldn't be my first or second choice. I like ambitious it's just a shame our promoter doesn't! I'd love to see a rider like Klindt at the SBA next season and at 5 with Ben at 1 we'd have some top 2, so bring that on Barker, Ingalls, Wells, Sanchez, Ostergaard (or someone of around 8.5), Cockle, Glanz -

Klindt converts to 10.50 as he has no PL average so not sure that could work! On the road that team is likely to be a 3 man team, Franchetti and Kristiansen in particular were woeful on the road this season and their home form can be replicated with riders on similar averages that can also do better away. I'd take Bunyan back in a heartbeat on his average, but I can't see him returning. More likely he will be based nearer his home, Leicester or Sheffield I would suggest. I think Cockle has got a very good case for being in the side next year though. Many people including me felt he would never cut the mustard at PL level but he has done well at the back end of the season, achieving a CMA of 5.24 since his return. My problem is that we will end up lining up with other peoples cast off's. I can see a team of Barker, Hawkins, Sanchez (swapping with Wells), Kristiansen, ?? Cook perhaps, Franchetti, Glanz. That in my opinion isn't good enough. -

He's a rider I liked when he came down to Plymouth for the Bears, but I have heard quite a lot of negative stuff about him. That said I'd take him at reserve with Glanz as long as we have a quality top 5. The key for us next year is to maintain decent home form but we have to fill the team with riders that can compete away from home too. In the Speedway Star Bowden is saying that along with Glanz who has already signed, he's looking at Franchetti, Cockle, Barker, Wells and Kristiansen returning! What a joke that is, we would probably be weaker than we were this season. -

Yes he would as I believe the cut off to drop sown is an EL average of 7.5 which converts to a PL 12.00. Like you say though I'd highly doubt he'd want to drop down though. -

We going for bottom of the league again!? Sticky, Magosi, Wilson not in a million years. Besides Barker has stated that he has been given the green light to ride PL next year and he has also stated he wants to return to Plymouth, so I would suggest he will be our number 1 again for 2012 -

Well its been a month now since any thoughts/news on a team for 2012, so thought I'd kick this one back into gear. Having spoken with Ben after the Edinburgh meeting, he is "100%" wanting to come back should the rules allow which is great to hear, so fingers crossed on that one. There seems to be a lot of talk about Richie Hawkins too with Gary Spiller saying he is looking at him for 2012. I personally like Richie he's aggressive and experienced at this level but I would want him as a reserve partner for the already signed Glanz ideally and would do a decent job home and away imo and give our bottom end a bit more quality. Anyone heard anything else? -
He wasn't the first and probably wont be the last!

Official Teams For 2012
torpointfanatic22 replied to skittle_face's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You can add Nicki Glanz to Plymouth (if we are still in the PL after the AGM) it was announced at our track a few weeks back and Nicki confirmed this himself on the mic that night. Link... http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Devils-burn-Witches-seal-Glanz-deal-2012/story-13504963-detail/story.html -
Hi RJ,
Thanks. I guess the problem we all have is that we all know what he's about and every time he opens his mouth or does something, we are the ones in the firing line. It's such a shame but while Mike remains at the club I can only see it continuing sadly

I personally think Ben is far too good for the PL anyway and if he wants to improve to the very top level of the sport he should look to step back up to full time EL and maybe get a ride in either Poland or Sweden or both. That said from a selfish point of view I'd love him to come back to Plymouth if averages permitted. -
Since a few others have got threads up and running, why not! Well first and foremost I just hope we are PL next year after all of the poor away reports and the fact that we've not been strong enough this season. Fingers crossed those in charge give us another season to get on a par with the rest of the league. Anyway as far as the team goes should we stay PL, of those that have ridden this season my definite returnees if possible would be Barker (not sure he will be able to ride PL nor will he want to) and Wells. Of the other Devils riders this season the ones I'd consider would be Simmonds, Bunyan, Hughes, Smart. All of which have averages low enough to put them at reserve so that could be a goer, although Nicki Glanz on a 3 would be great value. As for new faces, well Ingalls must be considered, possibly Peter Juul Larsen also after both were superb at our place this year. Elsewhere I'd like McGowan or even Sweetman as second heat leader and another rider that impressed at the SBA this year has been Boxall. Despite Kristiansen being a good signing this year I wouldn't keep him as I simply don't see value on his current average, victim of his own success in my opinion. So if possible something like this would be nice (on current averages)... Barker - 10.14 McGowan - 7.49 Boxall 5.71 Wells - 5.63 Ingalls - 5.58 4.95 left - Hughes, Bunyan, Simmonds or Juul would all fit Glanz - 3.00
-
Last I read Hawkins was Ippo bound for 2012, not sure how reliable that is mind you. If for any reason the Rockets don't decide to re-sign Boxall I'd welcome him at Plymouth! He rides our place unbelievably well!

You could yet see Plymouth back in the NL in 2012.

Where Now For The Heathens?
torpointfanatic22 replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Mark Baseby is the sensible option imo, Birko if he fancies it wouldn't be a bad second choice. -
Personally I've never seen him ride but I'm told entertaining is polite for absolute nutter in Garrity's case. For that reason I need to see the kid race sooner rather than later!
-
Delighted that the lad has got himself a club after his poor treatment by the Devils promotion. Best of luck to him and I hope he makes Mr Bowden regret his decision to leave Claes out at the last minute.
-
Novratil was pure class when he came over last year. Gutsy and exciting to watch! I hope he has continued his development as if he has he will be knocking on the door of a PL place. He was one of the guys I hoped Plymouth would sign for this season. Good luck to him, hopefully he can do enough to gain a PL contract somewhere.
-
Thanks for that Sandie, 2 great talents hope they make it over here in the future
-
What ever happened to Austin Novratril, the lad came over last Easter if I remember rightly and scored about 16 at Plymouth as well as decent performances elsewhere, he was only 15 or 16 too. Would surely be a candidate for a team place over here! Same can be said for Gino Manzares too.
