  1. Always difficult to replace a 3 pointer for a 3 pointer and see a vast improvement so unlikely to make a huge difference to the Comets. Two changes were needed imo to see any real difference.
  2. Dave Robinson should not referee again, absolute disgrace with some of the decisions made. Excluding someone for laying the bike down for not being under power when the red lights came on is abysmal. Some terrible luck coupled with awful referee decisions made difficult viewing at times. Hope Stefan, Kalle and Adam are all okay for next weekend as there were some nasty crashes there. Point of note, I disagree with the updates regarding Kalle having time to not hit Adam, as he came around bend 2 and the dust cleared he had very little chance to miss him and think it's harsh to say otherwise.

  6. Hmm not convinced at Simota at 5, I'd have put Rasmus at 5 myself but hey ho. I really hope the weather holds off as I think this has the makings of a belter even without Fricke. Kyle has tweeted that he is riding!
  7. We do indeed look a very good side on paper now. Amazing what one signing can do!
  8. They can re-declare him all they want but did he even know!? You can't ban someone if they don't even know they have been re-declared in a 1-7. If Roynon gets banned for this then this would be an all time low for the BSPA. Sheffield Speedway and the MC have clearly buggered this up so they should be the ones held accountable. Sounds fair - Take off the 3 points R/R got and leave it there. Probably the fairest way to resolve things.
  9. Apologies, we can only go on what we are told. I spoke to someone at the track afterwards who said heat 15 was a belter. None the less the result was correct, although not what I wanted, so that will do for me
  10. Bloody hell it's all gone off in here! I guess I speak in the minority when I say I'm a supporter of speedway and not just my local club. I have often gone to neutral tracks and taken in meetings that have no bearing on my local club purely because it's the sport that gets me first, my local club second. I go for entertainment and if my team are riding and are able to win then even better! I appreciate that people want to see their team win and when they don't scape goats are looked for and found. Look at Edinburgh (nothing against the Monarchs), they are flying yet Aaron Fox is barely scoring a point. Their supporters may be concerned about his form but they are supportive of him because the team is doing well. If we'd won all our matches would we all be over Ben Reade like we are? When this team were put together most on here, in the speedway star and elsewhere said we'd be bottom or 2nd bottom when it comes to the league. They said Benko wouldn't get a point and that the team was just not good enough. Right now that's not the case, we had a good win at Rye House (who granted are poor at the mo) and got a point at a 'so-called' strong Somerset. Facts are facts and that is that in the League Cup this season Plymouth have gained more points than they have ever done in this competition since they joined the PL. Now the group may be bigger than previously but our record is far better than previously. In fact had we beaten Ipswich at home we could well be in the semi finals with a win on this Friday. Reade sadly is out of his depth at the moment but given Simota and Benko don't get new averages until after Friday why start bashing the lack of changes? Surely it was obvious that the plan was to await these guys to get averages before looking to change things? Should things work out we could have Benko and Newman at reserve, hardly weak! Plus a top 5 of Barker, Jensen, AN Other, Katajisto and Simota. That is not a bad side and in fact probably the best on paper Plymouth have had. We always hear about lots of riders available, why don't we sign them etc. Sometimes we need to actually realise the rider decides regardless of the deal on the table. I know for a fact that two good riders we went after this season decided to go elsewhere for a lower pay rate because the travel was easier for them and who'd blame them! It's not always money! I am shocked at the timing of the comments from the promotion regarding crowds and I hope they can get out there and bring the fans back by promoting the club to the local people but we all saw with Newport that sometimes throwing money at a top team that delivers silverware isn't always sustainable and a club is better than no club. Time will tell and hopefully things improve, for me I'd like to see bends 1&2 bladed as it's too bumpy and may perhaps be putting riders off giving it a rip!
  11. Following Friday's match with P'boro, Benko and Simota are likely to free up around 4 points in total which added to our current free points, will allow us to replace Ben Reade with a rider of around 7.5 - Davies or even Roynon would be nice!
  12. Newman is out, updates will be here... http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/13247/scunthorpe-plymouth-pl-27-3pm

  14. I'd be very very surprised if our team remains with the same 7 riders after Kalle moves up. With averages as they are we may just be able to squeeze Alex Davies (if he is still coming over) in for Ben Reade. That could well see Kyle at reserve so we won't be weaker at reserve at all. Big IF mind you!
  15. Regarding Allen, to be fair we thought the same but it was one of a whole host of errors from the ref. I didn't understand why he put the red lights on mid race, we were all wondering why some riders slowed but others didn't, bizarre. Fair one on the tapes, I've not been there but in the heat that he pulled them back I thought the tapes went up fine. Anyway refereeing decisions shouldn't take away from a decent meeting where we were far more competitive than I thought we'd be!
  16. This is quite frankly laughable! Calling the referee biased for making these calls and claiming hard done by for the others is hilarious. Najjer sometimes you still amaze me with your incredibly one-sided posts claiming to be hard done by - Tonight Ronnie Allen made some disgraceful calls against the Devils and yet you claim hard done by. The Kurtz brothers jumped at least five starts between them. Yes they were pulled back on some but Brady in heat 3 should have been pulled back on a blatant jump. Todd then jumps again later on in the evening after getting a warning and suddenly they claim the tapes didn't work properly to avoid an exclusion! After that I grant you there were issues but the tapes went up fine in that race! Olly Allen had both wheels over the white line in his 3rd race coming off bend 2, it was so obvious you could even see where he'd crossed, but the ref says nothing and the Rebels got a 5-1. I have no idea what happened with the Kalle decision in heat 14 so that one I'll give you but in heat 15 Vissing gave Jensen a shove, there was contact and Vissing should have gone. More often than not he would have! A good meeting with some excellent racing but some very odd refereeing decisions - I thought both guest number ones did themselves proud, Vissing and Wethers were excellent value! I thought Benko was unlucky tonight and deserved more for his efforts. He has pleasantly surprised me - Simota though.....
  17. To be fair Jensen has been pretty solid everywhere - The other two, hmm...
  18. Been surprised about Benko if I tell the truth - Didn't expect him to score a point let alone average over 4 from his first 4 meetings.
  19. That statement alone is enough to show how far Plymouth have come over the past seasons. We may still get hammered but opposing fans thinking we will get close is good enough for me. Oh and updates will be here... http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/13167/ipswich-plymouth-lc-10-30pm?page=1&scrollTo=236790
  20. Ipswich is a very tough place to go - Barker knows it well though and Rasmus saw it last season so at least has an idea of the place. If Simota and Kalle dial in early we could be competitive and that's not factoring in any input from Kyle. I'd be surprised if Benko or Reade do much though. I expect us to get beat but then I didn't think we'd turn Rye over so who knows! The lads have their tails up that's for sure!
  21. I was kind of expressing a view with regards to the comments most people said about no-one really liking Ben. As a rider I rate him higher than Kennett and agree he is a top number 1! He was very impressive at Rye on Saturday and I'm told he was damn good at Plymouth the night before - He's giving the promotion a headache on that kind of form!
  22. Indeed - Everyone has moaned about how dreadful Rye were and that Plymouth are still toilet but I thought the meeting served up some decent entertainment and the races between those two were excellent. I understand that people get annoyed if their team loses or don't appear strong enough (we've had it more than most since joining the PL) but if a neutral had turned up on Saturday night - I'd like to think they'd go again. Some first class racing (certainly the most passes i've seen at Rye in one meeting) - I may be in the minority but I'd sooner turn up and see that kind of entertainment week on week and win 50% of the time than see gate and go stuff and win all of them. But hey ho! To be fair Kennett may have cheated but generally comes across as a bloke pretty well. Sadly Ben has rubbed up a lot of opposing fans and riders the wrong way over the years.
  23. There was and quite a bit of it too! Win or lose I'd have enjoyed that meeting tonight some very decent races! I said in my updates I wasn't sure if Rye are worse than I though or we are better - I'm sure it's a mixture but tonight I was very pleasantly surprised. Simota, Barker, Jensen and Super Kalle were great value for Plymouth. A crucial point from Reade where he was so much better than his other two rides and the same could be said about Benko who was poor in his first, okay in his second and much better in his third. Newman found some speed in his last ride and again a crucial two points. For Rye only Kennett really looked like being tough to beat. Bowen plugged away and Boxall was okay but I do wonder if Lambert and Tresarrieu will be there long term! The double header with Ipswich and Somerset along with the trip to Peterborough will perhaps answer the conundrum I raised above as to how this Plymouth side can fair. On Simota's most recent displays you have to wonder if Davies will walk into the side when he gets over. I'm currently set for humble pie on that one!
  24. Whilst I wouldn't be as damning as some on here have been regarding the Demons, you have to admit RJ that a number of the Demons side have been around for some time and never really progressed beyond NL! Smarty looked like he may do something with Stoke but then of course had that nasty injury up at Berwick which hasn't seen him the same since. Tim and Ben have both had cracks at the PL which have been with very limited success but in Tim's case especially he has been off a bike for 18 months or so now so he will need bit of time before we see where his future lies. I expected to see a lot more fresh faces - More in line with what the Stags have done. Mark my words the Stags will get tanked a lot early season but just like the Scunny NL sides of a couple seasons back, they will improve and will surprise a few. It's nice to know a number of younger lads are down there getting laps in though with potential spots up for grabs in the future. What I don't want the NL team to be is a fixture filler as that would slightly defeat the point of bringing through 'future Devils' whig is what this has been sold as in the main. It's a project though so time will tell. In the meantime this is the Devils thread and I'm very much looking forward to catching my first glimpse of them this season at Rye on Saturday (even though I'm not expecting any points)!
