  1. if we have any space at all its the entrance and exits to the bends we need a wee bit extra space on. even 2 or 3 extra feet might make take the track and racing to another level. heres hoping
  2. wonder if we will see some Groupon/Amazon Local deals in the early days. sorry for repeating myself but as much as I am delighted with the new regime I really hoped we would have a family ticket for around £25 for 2 adults and up to 4 kids say. money spent inside the stadia would increase as would the atmosphere around the place. Give the kids access to the riders for autographs and photos(believe they are now called selfies!!) and some old fashioned/ social media rider fan clubs and hope they pester the parents every week to turn up. the decline of youngsters at Ashfield has been alarming. and lets rename the stadium, its ours !!!!!!!
  3. I think the combination of losing Shane Parker and some truly awful processional meetings swayed many long term fans from turning up every week. If only they could have seen Kasper and Rusty amongst others last season I am sure they would come back regularly. Great racing and great viewing in what was admittedly a run down stadium last season failed to attract the required numbers. I am sure with some Marketing we can get back up to level needed. Be great if a we could encourage visiting fans to give us another chance too.(why not let visiting season ticket holders at other clubs in for a tenner??)
  4. If Glasgow Speedway were to own the stadium then any football club be it Ashfield Juniors or the Bullywee would have to pay for the use of the Stadium. Stick down a 3G or synthetic pitch and we have a facility which the whole community including local clubs and schools can utilise. If we own it we can dictate the pitch dimensions etc . Bear in mind we have a great racetrack which is only a few metres width from being truly spectacular. Fingers crossed.!!
  5. Last seasons team might not have won many honours, or points, come to think of it, but we had the best entertainment in a good few years. Losing Rusty and Kasper for that part is a blow but plenty quality coming in to replace them so far. Cant wait to get started now. All a bit hard to believe to be truthful.
  6. the back straight at ashfield is a great place to watch from, and it has a huge bank of grass behind it, be great if we could somehow get some form of basic seating into this area which would offer a raised, unobstructed view of racing.
  7. We seem to losing too many Families to the sport. At Glasgow we used to have loads of kids waiting for Shane Parkers autograph, photos etc. Theres hardly any youngsters going to Ashfield now. If we could cut the riders overheads, wages and get families back in for say £20 then that might bring some back. I know that some people see the £16 as just too much. Somethings got to give this winter, just hope its not peoples clubs.
  8. I know there were a few delays with injuries but another 10 minutes surely wouldn't have been too much to ask. most of these lads travelled for a few hours hoping to get some decent practice and we let them down big style. sure theres more important things wrong right now but lets show some respect.
  9. Strange they were only allowed 1 race each. Doesnt offer much encouragement to the juniors.
  10. Strange meeting today, several strung out races, then some terrific passes. Glasgows new boys well off the pace but newcastles bad luck let us off the hook a bit.
  11. Thing is we are be treated to some great meetings as others have said, and before they went up in flames the portakabins provided the decent basic essentials we required, sure the stadiums seen better days, but i would rather have good racing above all else. also worried about the lack of youngsters attending now. During Shane Parker reign we had loads of kids waiting for autographs off their heroes, now theres barely a soul waiting at the tunnel entrance after racing.
  12. another disappointing result but not disappointing racing. ashfields producing the best racing for years but sadly the crowds are down so much. weather today probably put a lot of folk off, but the track was great.
  13. Not the best 16 quid spent this season, if ever a meeting looked likely to be called off this was it. Impressed by steen jensen. Great to see dimitri back but he is going to take a good few meetings to get back to his best. Not a great advert today im afraid.
  14. Pity any rider that gates in heat 2 with those 2 behind you. Its watchin these guys that keeps my enthusiasm goin.
  15. Jason Lyons, for Glasgow down at Newcatle in his first season in the UK took off like a rocket when he hit a fallen rider(Mark Thorpe perhaps) at Brough Park. We all seen the impact coming and it was like slow motion as he sailed through the air down the back straight. Think he withdrew from meeting but no long term injury thankfully.
  16. great to be back. more or less a a warm up for most riders except kasper. boy doesnt give up easy. some good signs but early days. dont think were gonna be a team of gaters mind.
  17. Didnt have a great view from 2nd bend, so cant really comment, but i would hope riders give each other enough room to race properly, but its all done in fractions of a second. Another decent meeting despite the weathers weekly intervention. Thought Anders crash looked nasty!
  18. Some top notch racing today. Fricke and ringwood the highlight for me. Track produced the goods. Well done to track staff. Hope this quality of racing becomes the norm.
  19. Glad joey did well. Were all rooting for him. Joe jacobs too. Couple of youngsters tryin there best.
  20. Jonas Raun looked reasonably smooth at the Individual Meeting yet yesterday he looked like he was out of control on several occasions. Riders were busting a gut to try and race but it just wasnt happening. Henning lifted on several occasions coming out of the 4th Bend, he had the experience to get the bike back down. Others werent so fortunate. Close meetings where we get beaten i can tolerate, but yesterdays offering im afraid not. Perhaps the weather conspired against us but we need something to click. i thought the grip was there on the outside, but if all 4 riders are on the same line it wont make any difference!
  21. Well deserved Bandit victory, but it was a poor meeting to watch. Back to gate n go racing like last year.
  22. The 14 riders were a credit to their teams. Was going to give this a miss due to the poor conditions, but the promotion deserve better so headed off not expecting much. Well after 3 or 4 heats the racing was competitive and exciting. There seems to be so many more racing lines now. Passes on the inside st Ashfield! Honest. Scunthorpe deserve great plaudits for getting in amongst it and Palm Toft just doesnt know when to take it easy. Good entertainment and a fair result. Glasgow speedways new promotion take a bow!
  23. Another entertaining meeting with plenty going on in most races, especially when Jason Garrity was involved, despite poor weather before and during the racing. OK so we took a helluva beating on the road, but as far as meetings at ashfield go, if they are anything like the first 2, then we have a far superior racetrack on our hands. well done to our new Aussies on an encouraging showing too!!!!!
  24. Great racing after heat 3, with the bandits contributing to a very entertaining meeting. Well done to the new promotion , vastly improved product. Screen and grieves team riding the highlight for me. Hope the crowds come back.
  25. Is there any way the back straight could be opened to fans as Armadale really suffers from poor viewing access and this may be a way round it. or is it too close for safety reasons. i would go more often if better viewing was available.
