  1. Recent home meeting, Kyle Bickley on the inside line pipped broc Nicol who was going wider and wider. There hasn't been an inside line at Glasgow for years. Huge improvement and track now worthy of its stadium.
  2. Good second half after yesterday's meeting. Some promising looking youngsters living the dream.
  3. I left tonight feeling thoroughly entertained and Cookie contributed to that. Some wonderful racing and apart from the crash after heat 14, a great evenings entertainment.
  4. Fridays crowd was very poor, some decent races but took nearly 2 and a half hours to complete.
  5. Matej Kus looked like he had every right to be miffed with ben barker with what looked like a borderline move....on his own rider. Enjoyable meeting with some decent races. New tracks an improvement.
  6. i really hope the track work pays off. Far too many races were spread out after the 1st 2 bends last season and i felt entertainment was sadly lacking in far too many meetings. Everyone just headed for the wide line round the fence and stayed there with Steve Worrall i think being an exception and had a race where he passed on the inside on bend 4? Hopefully this work is the final piece in the jigsaw.
  7. The track is/was the biggest weakness in our set up. If we get this right it could transform the whole experience. Ftg speedway doesnt encourage new fans or some existing fans to return. Looking forward in anticipation
  8. If he does sign then the Curfew is going to come into play for sure. Maybe thats why they have relaxed the rules. i found his behaviour to be tedious and caused far too many delays.
  9. Aaron summers has been great for glasgow speedway in the last few years. Sad to see fans turn on him after a few bad weeks. We werent good enough as a team in 2017. We get lots of praise but still on a learning curve in lots of respects.
  10. has anyone mentioned that after the long drawn out grading that we actually got some decent racing. i cant recall a single pass in the first 11 heats but 12 to 15 were so much better. Glasgow are rightly being congratulated for doing so much right for speedway.......but i cant pay £20 to watch FTG Speedway every week. its not good entertainment just now.
  11. Truly forgettable first 12 heats. Last 3 heats much better. Any new fans would have been unimpressed I fear. Just seems no way to pass rider in front leading to so many ftg races.
  12. Thanks, never seen anything wrong from 2nd bend. Still not sure if riding into him from behind was the right thing to do, wonder if match officials seen anything. Prefer the old fashioned 70s style bust up.:-) as prev said the "afters" was better than most of the racing.
  13. Very poor meeting im afraid. Fair play to Tom Perry for putting his back wheel where few dared. track was amazing considering the rain that fell earlier. Not sure what JBA did to upset Lawson but dont like seeing riders flicking back wheels at opponents after races......the face off was good fun though.:-)
  14. Each to their own but i found that to be good entertainment irrespective of the result, plenty close races and a last heat decider. not all races had passes but most had some form of contest throughout. well done both teams
  15. Afraid that was as poor a meeting I have seen in a long time.3 passes in 15 heats is not good value. Thank god it was over quickly. On the plus side the back straight viewing is great and lights are impressive. There was a threat of rain, but we need better.
  16. the racing at Ashfield improved greatly in 2016. i am sure the owners realise that the spectacle of racing alone is not enough to bring people back every week. The Ben Fund Meeting, if it had been a "normal" individual meeting at "normal" prices would not have left me feeling short changed. Not a classic but very enjoyable and encouraging signs regarding the track which held up well considering the weather. Glad all those who travelled got to see some action. if we could just get an inside line developed it would make a huge difference.
  17. Really disappointed with the track today. Great weather leadin up to the meeting then we have riders strugglin with visiblity issues for nearly half the meeting. Coles, ayres and garcia very fortunate to escape injury. Very little racing, so a rammy brightened proceedings up a bit.
  18. Seemed to be very little chance for home riders to pass when they took the wide line on 1 and 2. Bewleys pass on garcia was sensational. Best team won, too many inconsistent tiggers today.
  19. Richard sweetman did a fosbury flop over the ashfield fence at bend 1 landing on the path to the pits to much screaming in the stand, he won the rerun 5 minutes later!
  20. If people cant see a marked improvement in the quality of racing this year at ashfield I give up. No longer the ftg of previous years. Not perfect by any means but lets be positive about something for once. Good entertainment in difficult conditions. Just wish we could push on through a wee bit quicker, riders are taking an age at the starts.
  21. thankfully I missed sundays rout, but regarding the track, has there not been more passing(from both teams) already this season than all of last season put together. my big worry was the number of riders careering into THAT air fence panel every week. entertainments been spot on so far. (almost) no complaints from me.
  22. after the first couple of heats when the magnetic air fence panel on the third/fourth bend had claimed another couple of victims I thought It was going to be a poor affair. well as usual I was wrong. several very good close heats and plenty passes to boot. Away riders also being able to pass and despite the scoreline the panthers did get by a few times to make the racing even better. Tom Perry seemed willing to mix it no problem. quickest run meeting in ages, happy days!
  23. Went to the Stand for a change on Sunday and found it to have a great atmosphere and very comfortable. Small part of the 1st bend obstructed but nothing too bad. After seeing some folk covered in shale im glad I did. Don't think I have ever seen anyone stay on a bike the way young Bewley did going round bends 3 & 4, it was frightening stuff to watch so I don't know how he felt afterwards. tell you what, the kids all love that mascot !!
  24. would only be summers and Lawson for me next year, perhaps Victor will get us a decent loan fee because I just cant see him getting round ashfield any quicker this year(hope he proves me wrong!!. if we did manage to get Fridays nights then Anders Thomsen would be a real good start.
