Birmingham Brummies 2015
Miserable Old Git replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
I see that the Brummies have signed a new centre green presenter bringing snide remarks from Pearson on his Twitter page.Thought he would have learned his lesson to keep his mouth shut after his past bad mouthing on the Brummies front in the last two seasons. If he's involved at Perry Barr, which no doubt he will be with the Heathens,God help the new promotion! -
Coventry Storm V Dudley Fri April 19th At 8pm
Miserable Old Git replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
The years were rolled back at Brandon last night with the return of the old enemy in the form of The Heathens and what a pleasing night of speedway it turned out to be. Not since the days of Charles Ochiltree has the presentation been so on the ball. Everything went to time which is a miracle at this stadium. Music requests, informative Centre Green Presenter, slick timing of the whole evening made an enjoyable nights entertainment for everyone who attended and Im sure looking at the crowd there were quite a few new young followers with their parents there. Well done Mick for taking the chance on this new venture and for putting together a real nights entertainment. Lets hope the Bees riders take note! -
Very good question Bryn. I think that i will pass on answering that question as Chris lives a lot closer to me than you and you have the protection of a :moat: around the island that I am not afforded in Stoke against any reprisals regarding the size of this superstar !!
-
Think you will find that Chris Simpson was not an Islander but was in fact one of the Two first ever signings, along with Barry Bishop for the Isle of Wight Wizzards back in the middle nineties when George Major was team manager. Good memories of those days travelling down every week from Stoke on Trent to race on a fantastic track with very friendly supporters. Possibly correct though about the weight issue!!

Plymouth 2012
Miserable Old Git replied to torpointfanatic22's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great to see Ryan fixed up for the 2012 season albeit in the Premier League. Good luck Ryan at Plymouth along with Ben Barker. Plymouths gain i see as Coventry"s loss. Expect a doubling up berth to follow shortly! -
Leszno Gp - 24th April 2010
Miserable Old Git replied to GregM's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
just returning from Lesno by road today. Good meeting and good track, stadium and facilities. Bomber was hard done by having to endure a water truck immediately before his every race., the only rider to do so! Only down side was the lack of entertainment from 4.30 to 7 pm and a b. awfull D>J and sound system he had no idea of working. Take Note whoever it may concern, the night should be entertaining from the word go. Drag your presentation into the 21 Century and get the guys involved who do Cardiff. At least they understand speedway and the music scene! -
This famous old rider who I believe has now passed away, was the topic of a quiz question at the Birmingham Speedway Supporters Club Xmas Party. I recall that he went on to ride for the Aces at Hyde Road after his Birmingham days perhaps late 60s or early 70s. Any old Aces fans remember this fact and can shed more light on the facts??

Future of the GP's...?
Miserable Old Git replied to Sprog1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The fact that Sky have 4 sports channels to broadcast on and still decided not to show the GP live after an hour without using the red button speaks volumes, especially as they are the main Elite League sponsors. A bad sign indeed !! -
Entertainment At Cardiff 09
Miserable Old Git replied to paul84's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So lets get this topic into perspective.42000 were at the event and to date only 144 posts, mainly criticising the evenings entertainment have been recieved. As usual the DOOM & GLOOM brigade, alias Steve Shovlar and John Leslie are at he forefront with nothing costructive to say. Well lets throw down the gauntlet to these two fine gentlemen.I would like to challenge you both to compile a play list of music covering three hours or so that is needed at Cardiff which betters that played by the resident duo . Its time to EITHER PUT UP OR SHUT UP, but as usual ,no doubt from you two fine gentlement, the result will be neither. I would conclude that from the figues quoted, the vast majority enjoyed the entertainment and personally I thought the English medley played prior to the start of the meeting equalled the impromptu brilliance of last years Land of Hope & Glory for the Chris Harris incident. It certainly got a round of applause in my area of the stadium With that in mind its pleasing to know that this team of resident D.J.s who provide the music at Coventry as well as the aftermeeting disco at that venue, as well as Centre Green presentation duties at Birmingham Speedway have already been booked for CARDIFF 2010!!!! So gentlemen, pens and papers at the ready and for once in your lives show some ability to put your money where your mouths are. the speedway world awaits the outcome with interest!! -

I guess John Leslie would complain about his own funeral. -
So the powers that be who gave us the Veltins Arena debacle want to continue with the same rubbish as this year for 2009. No new ideas just the same old tired names as before. The seem to like to fail to deliver before the new season is upon us. Never mind thats speedway . Perhaps the inclusion of the American, Swedish and Polish champions of 2008 would have added some colour and spectacle to the proceedingsIm sure Shovvy would have travelled the world to see these riders in action especially the one sporting the Stars and Stripes!

Nice to see Birmingham Speedway so well represented with their centre green presenter Chris and their inspirational music maestro Rich joining forces to bring sensational music to the G.P. on saturday. The choice of music was fine and even the tracks causing comments were tame compared to the general level of language suffered by all at any sporting event these days, take note Mr Barker and family!!! The general census of opinion is Coventrys loss is Brummies gain this season so come to Perry Bar Mr Trump And see a real promotion at work.
