  1. I was there that night. Unfortunately, you could tell immediately that the crash was to have serious consequences. RIP Wayne
  2. Would just like the tie to still be alive after Friday.
  3. Any ideas when the cup final will be?Trying to plan my diary.
  4. Gating competition which was disappointing after lady week’s epic. the difference was at reserve where the Diamonds won 15-3
  5. Decent result for a 4 man team away from home
  6. I’m a fairly regular attendee of Santa Pod despite living in Newcastle. The promotion of Santa Pod is very much around events. They have no expectations of the same people turning up every week (and it does run every week through the summer). There are so many classes and types of meeting that each week sees different cars and different crowds. It is geared towards making itself a ‘once a year’ event for most people who go. It has a full funfair and lots of other events such as stunt shows and fly pasts. For speedway to go down a similar route would involve promoting other styles of racing (fours, pairs, individual, sidecars) and occasionally a highlight event. I remember all of this in my lifetime following Newcastle and also remember how well it was promoted by Ian Thomas back in the Seventies. One other point is value for money Santa Pod costs around £30 for an adult and all kids U16 are free. The racing is from 09.00 until dark and all stunt shots etc are included in the price and your ticket includes full pits access. I know speedway pooh poohs this on H&S grounds however they have no issues letting you get to within 6 feet of 10000bhp dragsters whilst they are warming up.
  7. Could someone please help me to identify the other two Newcastle heatleaders? with Starke as a guest I would expect Berwickto win the second leg as well
  8. Good luck to Jacob. Not been impressive when I’ve seen him before but got to give him a fair crack of the whip.
  9. Cracking meeting but our hear leaders are not strong enough to carry two riders, even at home
  10. Pleased with Matty as a first signing. Was scoring well above his average by the end of last season and should do well in a weaker league.
  11. Always been a pleasure to watch Robbo. A genuine racer and genuine bloke.
  12. Enjoyed the meeting. Some good racing when Ellis and Pickering were on track. Times were 2 or 3 seconds off normal so hardly indicative of an unrideable track. Brough needs throttle control when dry and even more when wet.
  13. Cracking meeting. Of the visiting riders this season I would love to watch Covatti and Pickering every eeek (hint hint)
