  1. The 8 point handicap in 13/15 always makes it look worse than it was. Encouraged by Roynon, Wright and Mountain. Stormy was ok and will get better. Clegg not on it at all but will also get better. Aarnio was utter gash and Alcock is not Championship standard. Having Barker in double figures will very mean we should be competitive at home.
  2. Let’s hope the racing is better than the terrace organisation. Blocks of six marked out so I have to stand right next to 5 strangers whose vaccination status I have no idea of, rather than being able to move into the huge empty spaces. Let’s all hope this is only for the first couple of meetings. Come on the Diamonds
  3. Will be delighted if the Diamonds break 30 to be honest
  4. Having visited Australia many times I’m surprised that any of them would bother coming here. As far as gammons are concerned Australians are white and speak English so are perfectly ok to let in
  5. The hospitality industry is indoors, pubs and restaurants.
  6. Possibly, just possibly, Wright and Roynon could click and be a magnificent reserve pairing. Here’s hoping.
  7. Looks like Championship will be U.K. + Commonwealth only. Not necessarily a bad thing from a cost point of view. As long as team strengths can be kept relatively equal then the quality of the actual racing need not diminish. I’ll be there at meeting #1 2021

  9. I guess Seaton Burn will be the remains of the Banks opencast that is just about done. It’s on Viscount Ridley’s land. cramlington continues to expand and might be an excellent catchment area for new fans.
  10. Whilst not speedway, this does show that an even more antisocial motorsport than speedway can be resurrected https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/aug/10/burning-rubber-racing-returns-to-melbourne-raceway-photo-essay
  11. I’ll be there either Sunday or Monday. Now that my dad has passed away I would even volunteer to be track staff. With regards to track location how about the open cast mine to the west of Cramlington? Being below ground level would mean no visual, and much reduced noise, issues. Being mined by Banks but due to end next year I think. The land I’d owned by Viscount Ridley(Blagdon Hall) if I remember correctly
  12. We still have a 14 day quarantine for people flying into the country. Rules out any riders living overseas.
  13. Yes, seriously missing it and will attend any meetings put on at Newcastle
  14. I see that the government is discussing exemption from 14 days isolation for international sports competitors, specifically footballers and F1 but maybe it will apply for speedway riders too?
  15. TJ is normally a gater which should suit Brough but his gating gloves let him down last season. He never got the hang of passing people which, after the first two bends, is normally done on the fourth bend. That’s where I watch from and he just went mid track all the time.
  16. 1. Joe Owen 2. Kevin Little 3. Tom Owen 4. Robbie Blackadder 5. Rod Hunter 6. Keith Bloxsome 7. Martin Scarisbrick
  17. Joe Owen for me as a Diamonds fan since 75. A potential world class rider if not for injuries. Tragic how a guy who probably only fell off once a season ended up very badly injured twice.
  18. Granty taking over the catering on speedway nights. Surely a win/win. Better bait and the profits go to Newcastle Diamonds rather than William Hill
  19. Rather checking the viability of NL at Newcastle (hint - there isn’t any), I’drather believe this is an attempt to keep some promising youngsters in the North of England and get some sort of asset base built up.
