I know what to expect from Henry and Lindgren and it was not massive improvement. Rose should still be on the upslope of his career though so was hoping for more and the way Newcastle's team is built, we need more.

Enjoyed last night. Was always likely to be close. Good job for the Diamonds that the real Danny King only turned of for his last two races but lucky for the Witches that Lewis Kerr was a long way off 100% after being taken off by KIng in Heat 1. Steve Worrall and Christian Henry were very good for the Damonds (apart fromHenry being 'frightened off' his bike on turn 3 by someone coming up the inside line very quickly. Not the first time I've seen that.) And as soon as I'd said that Lewis Rose had not come on from last season, he pulled his finger out and put in 3 excellent rides to finish with. Hasn't Tungate got big elbows for such a little fella?

Rosen is at #2 as that is the position that makes the most sense to cover with r/r. He might not stay there when he comes back as Henry is a natural fit in that position.

To be fair Mr Dowling was very consistent tonight. He got every decision completely wrong. I've been to 95% of meetings held at Brough since 1975 and I can't remember a worse refereeing performance. Even his use of 2 minute warnings was inept.

It's going to be interesting at Brough this season. You get the impression with all 7 of our team that they could win any race they are in but have an equal chance of finishing last. Nice to see Wilko on form last night and was impressed by Lunna despite him only scoring 2 points. Was battling for a scoring place in every heat and was trying every line possible. At only 17, he looks a good prospect. My car temperature gauge said 8C when I got back in after the meeting. It's in the garage todayto be checked as that was definitely 20C optimistic!

I expect much of Newcastle's season to be like this. Never going to hammered as someone will be on form (a different rider every week by the looks of it) but too inconsistent to win away

Same reason Sheffield find the Newcastle track track difficult. It is no criticism of the Sheffield track preparation etc. Basically Newcastle = throttle off and turn left at the end of the straight Sheffield = put your 600cc engine in and hang on
