I think the fact we do have a half decent junior set up is the very reason we have all these "young Aussies invading" our speedway teams. Personally it's not something that bothers me, I subscribe to the fact that if your are good enough you will make it. As a comparison, every two years the England football team either fails to qualify or fails miserably in a tournament. Who gets the blame? The Premiership and Jonny Foreigner of course. England last won the World cup in 1966, the Prem started in 1992. What happened in the years in between? My own view is that it comes down to application and dedication.

To be honest anyone stupid enough to have bought tickets in advance ought to be made to pay again!!!

I fail to see how anyone who loves our sport can claim to be "not a fan" of Tomasz Gollob. For me he epitomises everything a great speedway rider should be. Controversial at times and breathtakingly amazing at others. As much as I like Nicki, Tomek is simply the number 1 entertainer in World speedway at the moment and boy are we gonna miss him when he's gone.

Nicki has lost his biggest sponsor (Fionia bank) due to the credit crunch and seems to have lost his hunger. Still, 3 World Championships leave him as one of the sports greats. I would love to think he has one more big season left in him but sadly I can't see it.
