I was a doubter Middlo, and boy did you and the lads prove me wrong. I'm genuinely delighted that you did. Best of luck tonight. C'Mon Team GB!! -
The boys done us proud!!!

Two fingers? Well gee, just because I and many many others got it utterly and completely wrong? Harsh but probably fair mate. I must say the team spirit amongst the squad seems fantastic. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really do think we have a shot at winning the Cup now. Every heat each team will have riders capable of taking the points, and I think it's going to be awfully close across the board. C'mon Team GB!!!! -
I'll take another piece of that pie please! And reserve me one for Saturday. An awesome display by all the lads.

As one of those who voiced concern over the inclusion of Norris and Barker; I feel it's only right to acknowledge to the world (well the forum anyway) that they proved me 100% wrong. A superb effort from all the guys, turning what could have been a very boring meeting into one that had me screaming at the tv. I nearly hit my head on the ceiling when Wiltshire shed that chain in our Joker heat. Great stuff Team GB. Come on for the Race -Off!

Entirely correct Sir L. Seems like I'm upsetting lots of people with my efforts to be nice. I apologise to you too. -

okay. Your profile doesn't state your gender. (No reason it should) I wrote a he without thinking (whilst backing you up re the Reading thing actually) and immediately apologised. Twice. I assume the punching my lights out remark is meant light heartedly. :?: -

Ahhh. THAT Penge. Went through it on a train once en route to Selhurst Park. Regarding the male/female issue. Apologies again. I didn't think as to me, it matters not a whit what sex you are in terms of a person's intelligence, ability and friendliness. -

Actuall, I think Penge is near Wolverhampton? Also, I suspect he meant reading, as in literature; as opposed to any affinity for the home of the Racers. -
After watching last night's meeting, I may have to revise my opinion slightly. It wasn't the actual riding that caused me to change my mind, but rather an interview. Dean Barker seemed so angry about not being included in the GP and the GB set up regularly. If he brought that passion to the squad for the WTC, then he would undoubtedly be an asset.
-
Agreed. I think that's where the old Test series are missed.
-
I've nothing against the two Eagles personally. However, I think it's time for the GB management to look at making long term improvements. Including Norris and Barker isn't going to make them better riders at this stage of their careers. Nor do I believe that their inclusion would make the GB team significantly stronger than having Howe etc.
-
Great minds ...Phil.

If Loram does refuse to ride, then I can't see how the GB team can realistically expect to win the tournament. Therefore, it would make a lot of sense to stick the kids in and let them learn. I'd go with : Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson David Howe Simon Stead Chris Harris 2 or 3 years down the line, it could really pay dividends.

Thanks for that tip Rabbit. Actually, I kinda guessed that I might need to avoid this place tomorrow night. -

Actually, it means I have to studiously avoid finding out the result before I settle down to watch the repeat. Fortunately, that's not much of a problem with Speedway. -
Can't remember the exact details, as I was quite young. It would have been at Cleveland Park, to see the Teesside Tigers. Nig Close was in the team, I remember, as his Dad and mine were friends. He took my brother and I into the stadium with him, which was a big thrill at the time. Alan Emerson, Tom Leadbitter, Pete Smith, and Andy Cowans were also riding. I think the opposition was Canterbury, with Les Rumsey and Ted Hubbard in the team.

Heh. I remember Kelvin smashing the window of the ref's box one night. He was definitely a character!
