  1. I've never understood the need for the camera to ghoulishly peek inside the door of an ambulance. Leave him in peace and show us the start line girls to pass the time. "The Grand Final will be run at 2.30 am"
  2. Looks as though he is getting very good medical attention. Fingers crossed as he came down very heavily.
  3. You are a master of understatement. "Trying week" indeed.! His talent on a bike has never been in doubt. If we can just find him a good woman to share a pipe and slippers with him.
  4. Another super heat. Pepe seemed to have eyes in the back of his head- until the last bend. If the first 4 heats set the tone for the meeting we are in for a good one.
  5. What a super heat 2. The Mighty Leon just falls short but gave Jarek a run for his money. Still amazed at how well Emil has learned to gate. He used to be worse than Chris Harris- and that's saying something.
  6. Sopcast not up yet. Is your livecast link above working for you? I get "Banned" on it.
  7. Brings back memories of the late 40s and early 50s when thousands of us made our way there from Wheatley street. You were very posh in those days if you had a car . I think half of Coventry Transport's buses were in use on those Saturday nights. Glory days. Regards. Alan.
  8. Tonight's Danish meeting is shown live here at 6pm. UK time. http://kanalsport.dk/ Outrup (region Varde) 1 Andreas Jonsson 2 N / A 3 Mads Korneliussen 4 Charlie Gjedde 5 Tobias Thomsen Grindsted Speedway Club 1 Michael Jepsen Jensen 2 Szymon Wozniak 3 John Kikkenborg 4 Henning Bager 5 Andreas Lyager Regards. Alan.
  9. We missed you, but at least your wallet is now bulging in compensation. All the best. Alan.
  10. Even though I read it in "goggle translation" it still comes across as a very strange decision. It seems to be -"If we got into the playoffs, we couldn't afford it." Surely the gate from their leg would have covered their outgoings? For the rerun with Smederna they would just have had to pay their riders, I would think. The murky world of speedway. Bumper gate next week in Eskilstuna and I don't care if I have to watch it in Polish. Regards. Alan.
  11. I was referring to the run-down state of the stadium, not the track. When I came over last year, my friend and I , who both were regulars in the 1950s couldn't believe the ramshackle state of the place. Pieces of tin hanging off the back straight stand, weeds overwhelming the crumbling concrete on the terraces. It was really sad to see it being allowed to deteriorate. I know the reasons no one will put any money into it . I wish I were a billionaire ! As for the red flag incident. I had never seen anything like it. I described Prezedpelski as being "asleep at the wheel" at the time. Thank goodness Berntzon wasn't hurt. Both great prospects by the way. If Smederna can get Grigori Laguta back on a bike they might cause an upset in the playoffs. I wish that people could take an honest look at the state of the Elite League. Too often I see words typed to the accompaniment of "Land Of Hope and Glory" that tell us things aren't good in other countries whilst burying their heads in the sand. . Poland and Sweden are the dominant powers in League speedway with crowds that far exceed the UK. They have to be doing something right. Regards. Alan. The fiasco on Monday took place on the track in front of a TV audience.
  12. It was abandoned after 7 heats due to 2 more downpours. Smederna are in the play offs. Google translation (somewhat) Speedway, Norrköping Tonight NT could reveal that the wolves leave WO towards smiths. The reason is all about the club's strained finances. The battle to decide which team would get the playoff run was stopped after seven heats in Eskilstuna. As the leading blacksmiths at home against Wolves with 24-18 when the rain came and put a stop to all the possibilities to determine the duel on Tuesday. The teams sat in long meetings before agreed a new date. The match would be run on Wednesday instead. Now it's not that either. It is the club's already stretched finances behind the decision. - The board has been in session now, and decided to leave, we will walk over to the game. The main reason is the short time that it gets to a playoff game when we lose more time. We do not feel we have time to sell it properly and dare not risk anything with the season we had behind us with too little income and more rain matches already, says Johan overpriced. He left the dramatic announcement to the NT port shortly after midnight. - It's obviously very sad to have to take such a decision, but we feel we must do it. It is particularly sad at the drivers who are so keen to this, and to get a playoff run. Thus ends Wednesday's match, according SVEMO regulations 45-0 to smiths who can thus look forward to a playoff game as Wolves thus miss now. For the fifth consecutive season. - There's this news I can give right now, we have been told that the meeting this evening about the situation that has become. Can it get more dramatic decisions in the future, as to request a sit down in the headlines because of the economy? - No, there should not be any danger. Now we leisurely start working for next season. We have had good control on spending this year, but failed on the revenue side. Smederna awarded a walkover.
  13. Not quite! Enjoyed that one and join you again on Friday for Denmark and Poland. All the best. Alan.
  14. It has been a very entertaining meeting. Plus I get to laugh at my "Pigeon" ad. Can Hans and Kenni grab a point in the last heat?
  15. Very enjoyable so far. More spectators placing bets than buying food. Slimline Danes.
  16. He has got a "steely determination" about his riding this season. No more Mr Nice Guy on the track. Great to see.
  17. I think you are being unfair considering that it was a miracle they got it on with the amount of rain they had in Eskilstuna. On a heavy track like that you weren't going to get nail biting racing but there was enough to make it interesting. Just the fact that one team needed to win by 12 points to make the play-offs. In 66 years of watching I have never seen a meeting with more than 3 or 4 close races. The majority "From The Gate" but still enough to enjoy. I never find any speedway boring and as for the riders not busting a gut to race. Come on! .I don't think you really mean that do you? I admire every one who gets on a bike to entertain us. I read a lot of "requiems" for the Elite league and if all people can find to criticise Swedish speedway for is being "boring" the Swedes will just smile and get on with it. Lots of other activities for those above to do on a Tuesday evening including yourself if it's that bad. Regards. Alan.
  18. Pleased he is up. Track looks rough on turns 3 and 4. He wasn't the first to wobble.
  19. That has NEVER happened to me. MUCH!! Ghostwalker- You must have been surprised when you got the news this morning. Shame the weather didn't cooperate last night. My opinion only- because none of us will ever know, but I think Smederna would have gotten the 12 point margin. Would have been a nail biter and down to the wire.
