  1. And at the civilised time of 11pm here i shall be watching! Probably in Polish but that is fine by me. Take care and enjoy Result, by the way will be 1. Jason Bunyan. 2. Chris Harris. 3 Emil, the honorary Bee. All the best. Alan.
  2. Thank you so much, my friend. Welcome to the new season! It is on ( thanks to our Polish streamers!) at a very civilised time of 11pm here on the US east coast. I might even stay up afterwards and watch a Super 15 rugger match live - but then again, maybe not. Super card that adds so much to the enjoyment and thanks for all your work. Best wishes. Alan.
  3. Well, not in this house it didn't . Since this old fart single handedly keeps the CD companies in business to the chagrin of my "downloadin" 17 year old. I recall our friend Ghostwalker saying there was initial opposition to the live streaming from the clubs but the attendances soon reassured them. Until we get "Smellovision" i would much rather be there, but the cost from 3 thousand miles away is a tad prohibative Super Polski Sundays are almost here!!!! Take care. Alan. Champions! Alan.
  4. Swedish national Television (SVT) today presented statistics over the most popular league sports in terms of attendance. Speedway is nr 3 and nr 8. Speedway Allsvenskan increased its attendance by 79%. The highest note for Speedway Allsvenskan were Smederna vs. Masarna with 3000+ in the attendance. 01 Fotboll allsvenskan 7326 +12% 02 Elitserien hockey 6393 +4% 03 Speedway elitserien 2898 +9% 04 Allsvenskan hockey 2607 +10% 05 Fotboll superettan 2423 -6% 06 Bandy elitserien 1562 +15% 07 Handboll elit 1338 -5% 08 (new) Speedway allsvenskan 1040 +79% 09 Innebandy herrar 1014 +8% 10 Basketligan 996 +14% 11 Damallsvenskan 924 +42% http://svt.se/1.2752...i_svensk_idrott Which would indicate that live streaming on the internet has had a VERY positive effect Where it matters . At the gate! With presumably an increase in concession sales, programmes, souvenir sales. Great news and roll on the start of the new season. Best wishes. Alan.
  5. At last!! It has been a long winter, but the starting gate is in sight. Hope you are well. Best Wishes. Alan.
  6. Richly deserved honour. I won't get into the old chestnut of "The Greatest Ever" since everyone is entitled to their opinion. However he is certainly the rider i wouldn't have wanted on my exhaust pipe, had i been on the track instead of safely on the terraces. Thank you for all the great memories Ove. Regards to all and roll on the spring.! Alan.
  7. Which leads conveniently to a special thanks to our Swedish friends "Ghostwalker" and "Anders" and the hugely enjoyable Tuesdays and Thursdays amongst the tall pines. "God Jul and (Och) Ett Gott Nytt År". Go Smederna Alan.
  8. Sometimes i think we get more rain here than Manchester! You don't tan here, you rust. Though today is a bright sunny, chilly day. It's January and February when the snow relentlessly falls that i pine for rain. All the very best my friend, and roll on "Polski Sundays". Alan.
  9. To all the supporters of this greatest of all sports who post on this "friendly" international section, i would like to wish you all everything you would wish for yourselves and loved ones and good health and happiness for the upcoming year. Fondest Wishes. Alan.
  10. Tres bien From Smederna's US based fan club. PK and Zorro will be a terrific influence on the younger members of the squad. Can't wait for Thursdays in April. Best wishes. Alan
  11. I should add to my opening post the following from "Anders" " One should remember that two Swedes must be included in the line-up, and at least one of them being an U21. Also, there's a maximum average limit to consider. To make a a general comment, Elit Vetlanda's line-up would look something like: Base: Hampel, Crump, Sayfutdinov, Jonasson Option 1: Vaculik/Ruud/Madsen + Proctor and Thorssell at reserve Option 2: Two of Vaculik/Ruud/Madsen + Lindqvist " Whichever way you "slice and dice it" the top 4 + any 3 should ensure a smile on the faces of the home supporters after heat 15 is done and dusted. Personally i think this will pay off in crowd levels and surely the other teams will welcome a Vetlanda visit with long line-ups at the turnstiles. Fascinated to see the other line-ups as they emerge. Roll on 2012. Regards. Alan.
  12. Vetlanda have announced their team for the 2012 Elitserien. It's as follows. Jaroslaw Hampel Jason Crump Emil Sayfutdinov Thomas H Jonasson Martin Vaculik Leon Madsen Ty Proctor One of our Swedish correspondents says "This is okay, but other teams will be as strong". Yikes Regards. Alan.
  13. Thanks Anders. Whichever way you slice and dice it, that is a team to make the home supporters beam. Can't wait to see the other line-ups! Tuesday nights will be un-missable. Regards. Alan.
  14. With their announced line-up, the LAST word anyone could apply is "rubbish" What a team!! Best wishes. Alan. Jaroslaw Hampel Jason Crump Emil Sayfutdinov (new, Piraterna) Thomas H Jonasson Martin Vaculik Leon Madsen (new, Lejonen) Ty Proctor (new, Avantia)
  15. I know that matches are won on the track, not on paper, but that is one hell of a line-up. Regards. Alan.
  16. We never really saw the Pulcynskis anyway did we? I love watching them on a Sunday in Poland though. Fine prospects. Glad we will still have the thrills, chills and (not too many spills) of Daniel to enliven our Thursdays in 2012. All the best . Alan.
  17. Well that sounds good. Add the already signed Kenni Larsen and we have a contender. What about dear old (in speedway terms!) Magnus? All the best.. Alan.
  18. And no one slid off exiting turn 4 either Thanks for raising a smile. Regards. Alan.
  19. Salary caps NEVER work in any sport unfortunately. It's like economic sanctions on a country. Someone always finds a way around it. Obviously i have no faith in the nobility of human nature. Wonderful in theory, doomed in practice. All the best my friend. First snow forecast here tomorrow. Brrrrrrrrr Alan.

  21. Going slightly "off-thread" on this topic, but one of the things i love about watching Polish matches is the anticipation of watching the 4 young reserves come out for heat one and, especially on a rain affected track, seeing the "harum-scarum" antics on the first bend. I believe we have had one or two friendly bets on here about who would, or would not, exit bend 2! On topic, the World Under 21 series shows the Poles have it right. All the best. Alan.
  22. So both Poland and Sweden , the two strongest leagues, realise you have to give the young riders the opportunity to develop. Then the Elite league teams grab them on a 4 and further aid their development and we then end up with only one British GP rider and for the 2012 series of the Under 21s we have ???????. Just common sense to me. Regards. Alan.
