Strange people in some ways. The guns scare the XXXX out of me and most people have them. However in this college town of 15000 and 15000 students, the last shooting was 3 years ago. They have this incredibly puritan attitude to gambling, but they all buy state lottery tickets and go on junkets to Vegas. As for the demon alcohol the Monday paper is full of 20 year olds arrested for illegal drinking. Yet America is the largest consumer of drugs in the world. Go figure.! I long ago gave up. On the other hand they are an amazingly warm and generous people and in love with all things British. Oh how i wish i had been here in 1964 when the Beatles hit.
