  1. thanks for the info and link Budgie I have just looked at the site but can't decide which one to purchase is there one you would recommend?
  2. Thanks to the posters who replied to my plea. It's abit clkearer now and I'll definitely look into it I'm already paying £60 plus each month for the full sky package anothe £20 would be too much.thanks again.
  3. I have read alllthe above posts and am still none the wiser on how to get the GPS without paying for BTsports can someone please explain it in p!ain English that a simpleton like myself can understand? what is Kodi how can I get it on my TV? Do I need anamazon fire stick etc.I must add I'm using anamazon fire tablet to type this as my computer died last month do I need a working computer for any of this.
  4. I'm sure someone said on this forum a while back that grigori refuses to ride in the qualifiers because he feels he deserves a wild card so the FIM won't evenconsider him. I've no idea if that's true I just have a vague memory of someone saying it. MInd you I'm a bit vague most of the time.
  5. rugby union, F1 cos a family member is part of hamilton's pit crew touring cars are more exciting though especially as there is now a connection to my beloved rockets. anyother sport as the mood takes me except football and cricket. one of the gripes on this forum about speedway is that you only get 15 minutes of action in a two and half hour meeting. how many seconds of action do you get in a 5 day cricket test match?
  6. Drop him from the pairs. We can always use Craig cook And Robert Lambert that will teach Johnny foreigner not to run theirspeedway better than us. Is that polish or Danish laughter I can hear? Perhaps Australia won't pick Chris Holder and JasonDoyle cos they rideover here. AN absolutely crackpot idea
  7. Wasn't the best ever rider when the champ howdy byford kept him in last place in a race at hackney in one match.Oh how we hawks fans loved that howdy was an old man then too probably about thesame age as greg hancock is now but he always looked like he was in his seventies must admit though haarfeldt was a very exciting rider. speedway couldn't get anybetter than the hackney/west ham matches.
  8. cardiff ia undoubtedlyexciting but imagine howmuch more excitingit would be ifthe worldchampionship was decided that night that's why us old timers preferredthe one off final theresnodoubt the gpsystem is fairer for the riders but nowhere near as excitingforthe fans tthatlaatprgrapph istrue but no different to a rider laying tenth or eleventh in the gps with three or for rounds to go under theoldone off system it took nearlythe wholeseasom to qualify for th final which is why it was held towards the end of the season and riders had to qualify each year noneof thisok youdidalright last year so you can have another gothis year or your country hasn't gotenough good riders toqualify so you're going in it that we get today.
  9. unless you've seen everyrace thedividssons have been in that last sentence was absolute rubbish i.m sure they try but some riders look that they're trying harderno rider wants to get beaten.
  10. I don'tknow rixkfrost andthereforw hav no reaaaon to questionhis honesty or integrity however he was not forced to walk away from speedway if you read the article in the speedway star you will see it was a business decision to walk away based around the uncertainty of the sky contract which he believedwould hinder the chances of gaining any new sponsorship he did a good job at peterborough and it' a shame he decided to quit but it was his decision nothing to do with any other promoter or as far as i can see any dispute with the bspa they at least gave him enough timeo to find somone to take over I know it'a alway opnseason on the bspaBUT SOMETIMES A PROMOTERACTS FOR HIS OWN REASONSHICHISWHAT RICK DID IT'S A SHAME HE'S GONE BUT YOUCAN'T BLAME THE BSPA FOR EVERYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS SORRY I DIDN'T MEANTOSHOUT ICAUGHT THESHIFTLOCK KEY BYMISTAKE I AMJUST RECOVERING FROMA A STROKE ANDMY FINGERS DON'T ALWAYS DOWHAT I WANT THEM TO. I aLWAYS THOUGHT garrad was good at coming frombehind but neath was rarely out gated anyway but iagree withthe sentimentsofyour post ivan mauger is recognised aspossiblythe greatestever rider not greatest gatingtart i'm sure manyriders thatwe regard as realracers would lovetobe known as gating tarts a term I findutterlydistasteful
  11. or to put it another way someone considered the riders position and made a decision in his benefit ratherthan just sticking stubbornly to the ruleswithout cosidering the rider
  12. Steve Lomas during his Hackney days. Couldn't score a point in the match then would come out and beat the opposing number one in the second half. Not just occasionally but every flippin week. Even uncle Len said we had a tail that only wagged in the second half.
  13. Two of my favourite Rockets but there were times on track when it looked like they didn't like each other.
  14. Blimey! That takes me back a bit. When I was about 8 years old I had a Highway Patrol outfit as a Xmas present, thought I was a real cool dude. Shame it doesn't fit me anymore.
  15. So presumably you never watch Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder, Vicar of Dibley etc as they are all scripted comedy shows. Mmm? Odd reason for not watching something which is, after all, a light hearted quizshow. It's not Mastermind or University challenge.
  16. Whether Speedway is worth £5-£10-£15 or even £20 to watch is purely down to how much YOU enjoy it. I personally am happy to pay £16 -£17 for a speedway meeting whereas I wouldn't pay a fiver to watch a footbal match in any league and you would have to pay me a considerable sum to watch a cricket match. The entrance fee is determined by how much it costs to run a meeting and with riders earning a good, well deserved, wage and other costs, these costs must be covered or there will be no Speedway. Of course we would all like it to be cheaper but unless there is a Multi million pound sponsorship in the pipeline for each club I'm afraid it won't happen. To me fiteen minutes of Speedway for £16/17 is far better value for money than any other sport. That's the bottom line. If YOU think it's worth it then it IS worth it.
  17. His bed is the only bed in existence with one side!
  18. Of course he would and when rain threatened a meeting one wave of his mighty hand and the clouds would part and glory would shine all around, injured riders would be touched and told "Pick up thy bike and ride on for your injuries are cured my son" And the speedway world would stand in awe at his mighty benevolence.
  19. An absolutely admirable aim. Unfortunately not all fans want the same thing. Just reading through this thread we have people who won't go if they can't see the stars of the sport cos they think that watching riders of a lower but equal standard doesn't make for good racing. No I don't understand that either. We then have others who say we can do without the big names cos they're too expensive. Someone thinks that Speedway is only worth a tenner, but without massive sponsorship, you really could only afford the National League riders at that cost. So while we all complain that the promoters can never agree on anything, neither can most of the fans. As I've said before there is no easy solution and whatever the promoters come up some fans won't like it. So do those fans say " Well I don't like it but I'll carry on going for the good of the sport" or do they go into a sulk and say " I'm not going anymore cos they didn't do what I wanted them to"? The choice of whether you carry on watching speedway is your's and your's alone. If YOU don't go because you don't like some of the decisions they make, remember there will be someone else who thinks "Thats a good decision. I'll carry on going" As someone sort of said "You can please some of the people all of the time or all of the people some of the time, but you'll never please all of the people all of the time".
  20. Yeh too right. Last thing the EL needs is a piddling little ancient PL promoter showing them how to run a club without making a massive loss. Where will it all end? Riders being paid on time no threats of clubs closing down. How boring would that be knowing that your club is sure to run next season and the season after that.
  21. According to the Rye website the track is already being altered to accomodate the new airfence, paid for from last years profits, so not all tracks are running at a loss. But where did the suggestion come from that Rye would be going EL?
  22. Ah! Now there's a team that might just do it, Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davey, Dannul Whiddon, Harry Hawk and UncleTom Cobbly. At least they all stayed on Tom Pearce's Grey Mare.
  23. Is this on record somewhere or from a, ahem "reliable source"
  24. Wow! A lot of good relevant points in that, particularly regarding Speedway as a team sport NOT an individula sport as the FIM seem to be trying to turn it into. Would like to see "proper" second halves back but I fear most riders would not be interested and if the top riders were involved that would add more to the cost. Perhaps this article could be sent to the BSPA as it seems to encapsulate all the things us fans have been saying for the last couple of years. Kudos to the writer, whoever he/she is.
