  1. Sheffield Eagles RL team are rumoured to be moving in at Owlerton following the demise of DVS and the university withdrawing from a deal to let them play at their facilities.
  2. Its proper name is Red Bull Diagnostics & Training Centre and it is based in Thalgau, Austria.
  3. Well there's a company called Go-Speed Ltd that's in liquidation, company directors are named as Mr Terence Russell and Mrs Yvonne Russell.
  4. Go Speed are in liquidation according to Companies House.
  5. Prudential Borrowing refers to the Prudential Code which all local authorities must by law adhere to for capital projects. Its all very complicated but basically it means that councils need to fund projects the cheapest way possible, and where possible the project should be self-funding over a period of time - i.e. the initial capital is repaid via revenues from the project.
  6. Barker just never looks comfortable on the bike, he rides like he's got a wasp down his leathers.
  7. Jeez, I knew you were a stalker but I didn't think you'd gone that far...........
  8. No I think you're right, we have a good chance if our riders perform. Tai & Ward should almost cancel each other out, with a point either way when they meet, and then who comes off best against Hancock. B&B are at least the equal of Doyle and North, overall I'd expect them to slightly better. The key to the meeting will be Harris v Batchelor - both capable of beating anybody but also capable of being beaten by anybody.
  9. In his first season as GB manager he picked a very young 5 man team for the SWC - Harris was the oldest rider at 26, followed by King & Kennett (both 22), Bridger (19) and Woffinden (18).
  10. It doesn't matter whether its a £10, £20 or £50 sport, what really matters is whether people perceive it as being value for money. If people think they are getting good value for the admission fee then they will come again, and that's true of any form of entertainment. Promoters often seem to miss the fundamental point that yes its a sport but ultimately they are in the entertainment industry and as such need to entertain people. Unless you're an absolute speedway-obsessed anorak of the Sid & Doris Bonkers variety then watching 15 processional heats is just not entertaining, and that is what is being served up quite frequently at many tracks. You don't have to look any further than the Cardiff GP to see that VFM is the key - people will happily pay much more for a ticket for what is, after all, just another speedway meeting, because they believe that overall they are getting good value for their money and being entertained.
  11. British Eurosport's Twitter now says "the speedway feed is currently unavailable to us, we will join as soon as we are able to"
  12. If you use code "NUTS6" you can get 6 months subscription for £30 (well, it worked last week anyway).
  13. I've had a few bob on Tai out scoring Zorro by more than 4 pts at 5/4
  14. Questions 2 & 3 are the real cause for concern. An ageing customer base and relatively few newcomers. That's a worrying trend for any business, never mind speedway.
  15. More details here.... http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/new-workington-comets-owner-announced-1.1006730?referrerPath=home/2.1962#
  16. If I was Bjarne Pedersen I'd make sure I didn't make a good start in that one, otherwise he's going to be meat in a very big sandwich ! Nikki off the inside gate is going to go straight on at the first bend and move them all out as wide as he can, its tailor made for him. I hope Nikki wins it if only for the reason that, despite people's sometimes holier than thou attitude towards him, he is good for the sport. In fact, if speedway had more Nikki Pedersens it would get more attention - everyone loves a pantomime villain and Nikki is the ultimate one.
  17. There's no mention of this 'cashback' offer in the report in today's local paper.... http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=71567&st=165
  18. http://audioboo.fm/boos/965118-exclusive-bbcrc-sport-s-john-walsh-reveals-workington-comets-team-owner-keith-denham-is-set-to-pull-the-plug?utm_campaign=detailpage&utm_content=retweet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
  19. Keith Denham just been on Radio Cumbria saying its almost certain that Workington speedway will fold and not run next year. Says he can't stand the losses any more. Went so far as to say that he's already spoken to the BSPA about the possibility of closing down immediately.
  20. The thing is, people are having a go at these riders now but in a week's time when they go back to winning mediocre heats in the Elite (ha !) League then they will all be hailed as world beaters and heroes again which does them no favours at all.
