  1. PP at the current site states that, Another site may have less restrictive planning rules. Also currently at Perry Barr due to Birmingham not owning the facility they will always have limited access, not only for practise but track preparation.
  2. Just following on from my previous point the site I’m talking about is the old Perry Barr container base. It closed years ago and it seems in 2007 British car auctions applied to develop the area as a car auction site, but seemingly nothing has happen to the site and still lays derelict. As the site was still operation when Birmingham were looking for a home in the past may be this site was never looked at as a possible home. I really think for the best interest of Birmingham speedway they need a place with minimal over heads and good access to the track for practise. Nice restaurants and bars can come along later.
  3. I don’t know if dropping down a league will help much, as Birmingham will still the problem of high rent, not much chance to maximise income through food/drinks sales and limited access to the stadium/track to for preparation, practice and bring on a youth team. The wage bill either in the elite or premier league may not be the problem but the overheads at Perry Barr might be. Is there any chance Birmingham could find a home of their own in the city? Now that they have proved over the past 7 years that Speedway in Birmingham isn’t going to bring about a total breakdown in society (like some almost seem to think back in 2005) Maybe the council would look more positively at applying to run at another site. There is a large brown field site some way back from the Aldridge road in between the canal and the M6 I believe it was where the old container base us to be. It’s not too close to houses and right next the M6 so I guess the ambient noise is always fairly high in that area.
  4. So dreadful that Birmingham are not actually bottom of the league and have matches in hand the win against Swindon denied by the weather or a win on Monday could take them even higher in league and above Belle Vue. So if Birmingham are so dreadful yet still not cut a drift, what does that say about the rest of the EL.
  5. Cheers thanks for clearing that up, i knew the PP had something about removing the track, but good to read that even if the worse happens this season, at least there is hopefully a chance of a return in the future.
  6. I believe PP or the agreement with stadium owners says the stadium has to be returned to how it was in 2006, should speedway stop at the facility so the track should be ripped up and replaced with a full centre green and all speedway related material removed. There’s another possible big bill for Mr. Phillips to contemplate.
  7. Big Ron Atkinson was talking about the Brummies the other day on talksport, reminiscing about how as kid he would leave Villa Park earlier on a Saturday afternoon so he could get to Perry Barr and get a good view ahead of the other 30,000. Maybe someone from Birmingham should approach him and see if he can promote the club. Promote as in bring Speedway to a wide audience, Or maybe he might actually follow in the footstep of Doug Ellis and fancy having a go at being a promoter.
  8. nice timing to post this yesturday, where as today http://www.birminghambrummies.co/news.php?extend.1853
  9. This has no relevance to the 2014 team, but for hardcore fans from the 80’s this pretty much is the view from the old Bordesley track over looking the Birmingham skyline as it today. sorce http://www.baddeley.be/blog/
  10. there seems to be a website, http://www.birminghambrummies.co/
  11. " Which sportsmen and women would be in your top 10 and why? Send us your top 10 list via the hashtag #SPOTY or comment via ourFacebook page. " Sorry a bit off topic, but this annoys me aren’t facebook and twitter companies worth billions so why does the BBC use/promote them as a way to access them. It’s like a BBC show only accepting calls from people using virgin media phone lines, or only accepting letters that have been sent by parcelforce. What happen to impartiality and no advertising at the BBC. #RANTOVER
  12. I think in the last few days they've been going with a big number two sorry, toilet humour isn't normally my thing but i couldn't resist
  13. good news the plug isn't being pulled, but i guess theres still a lot of work going on before we know who does what with whom
  14. Yes right now everything is pie in the sky, and I can understand ?dudley? Not wishing to go premier league as the premier league isn’t really here or there it’s just a division devoid of ambition that milks the fans for any penny there can get. Winning the league dosn't really count for anything you don't even get promation. (well back in day you had the promation play offs, but due to lack of ambition by the then owners, thats the main reason i rarely go to Perry Barr now a days) Whereas” The Heatherns” joining the ?elite? league would send out a message of intended. And that has to be more ambitions then watching another season of 3rd divisioners trying their best. They could even keep 2 members of their current side with new 2NL rider rule in the EL. Maybe get Hancock in for the sentimental factor also it could keep the likes of King, Barker, Covetti and Auty at Perry Barr. As I said it was only a plan if Birmingham continued in meltdown mode but with "THE ANNOUCEMENT" tomorrow it will hopefully see Birmingham back on track, one other option is no speedway at Perry Barr and I believe the Planning Regulations say the stadium has to return to the way it was before speedway came back there, all at the cost of the speedways current owners. So no track anymore and a big bill to pay.
  15. Don’t think the “Dudley Heathens” could run at PB but an Anonymous named team “THE HEATHENS” might. my dealer's just delived the "coke" so i'll be off line or is that on line for a while, catch u later
  16. about as many who turned up to support Birmingham in 1985/1986 not that many but true speedway fans really when there gates are already bigger then many in the elite league Any ways i've been on the pop since 4pm got a long trip to BournEmouth (on public transport) in the morning not looking foward to it, so i might not be talking sence #THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO DCFC What ever happens Brummies at least you'll team will never turn up looking like that, little wonder i'm :drink:

  18. I alluded to this in an earlier post but no one bit. But serious if there is to be a DOOMSDAY SCENARIO for Birmingham Speedway and no one comes forward to take ownership of the club, along with no commercial deals and no riders signed up in the next few weeks. Would there be the possibility of speedway continuing at Perry Barr next year by getting The Heathens to ride a season at Perry Barr in the elite league. It would give the Heathens a home and the possibility of running at Elite league level with maybe Hancock in the team along with the hopeful TV coverage. Thus boosting their profile and showing what Dudley/Sandwell council are missing out on. After all there is very little difference in the distance from Cradley Heath to Perry Barr or Monmore Green. Even if you don’t have a car the train service could get you to and from the track. As for Birmingham well it would at least keep speedway in the city for a year till hopefully they can get themselves sorted out and a few open/challenge meetings could be staged during the 2014 season carrying the Birmingham speedway name. I feel a lot of Heathens fans would love a crack at the top flight, if only for the publicity it will bring to highlight there fight for a home in Dudley/Sandwell. And Birmingham fans will still have the chance to see speedway at Perry Barr, OK it’s not the Brummies but I’m guessing a lot who attend Perry Barr are now the hardcore speedway fans and would still attend often during the season just to watch the sport. This could offset the much higher running cost of the Heathens being at a higher level by getting bigger crowds of both Brummie and Heatherns fans added to that alot of local away fans during the season. Yes it would be a massive gamble to take Birmingham out for a year but it could be a way to keep speedway in the city and that has to be better than nothing. Also a massive gamble for the Heatherns but how much longer can a team with that support be in the 3rd division. it might just benefit both clubs. anyway back to the :drink: :drink: it is Friday night
  19. Erm... maybe The Wolverhampton Wolves, The Coventry Bees. The Leicester Lions and "The Heathens" on a home track not at Monmore Green will contest the EL midland derbies next year.
  20. The Danny king quits article http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/other-sport/speedway-danny-king-follow-phil-6317416 He seems to leave a door open for a return to Birmingham if things at a higher level change?
  21. Some more septic waste washes down the river, really the environmental standards agency should step in. Not having a pop at Danny King here, just the general stench in the air around Perry Barr
  22. If Birmingham run next year (and I hope they do) they could take up the sponsors logo of another team from the Aldridge road. learn more here http://justice4the21.blogspot.co.uk/
  23. I love the Aldridge road zig zag bridge many happy times playing down there as a kid, although it wasn't so much water as chemical waste that use to flow under it back in my day I believe at one time, it was Europe’s most polluted river “WE ARE NUMBER ONE...YEAH”
  24. couldn't let this pass 26 years real? Birmingham closed in 1986 and reopened in 2007 that’s 21 years where have you been for the past 5 years? or are you related to "Brian (the saviour, but never turned up at many meetings back in the day) Buck" # bordesley lives on
