really??? the lad is only 16 and still at school he never moved after hitting the deck. still a novice there is no way he was trying to cheat!! i appreciate his little jog made it look bad but come on give the lad a break. i was disappointed the race was stopped too as it would have been good to see cookie come from the back.

announced at the agm i'm sur and common knowledge. there is always a cut off date when there are play offs. who will somerset pick? really interesting to find out
-
promotion/relegation and young shield. has been going for a while. also the same rules as el play offs. i'm not saying i like it and i do understand why it would be annoying for leicester fans but they have to have a cut off date. rye have already had 5 postponements, ran 3 double headers and the reason the redcar match was last was because they met in the ko cup semi. just pretty bad luck that rye vs redcar ended up meaning something. having said that if rye needed a result i reckon len would have pulled out all the stops to run it today or tomorrow. for me the pl should only have play offs if you are going to televise the final. but we now have 14 fantastic matches to look forward to. ipswich/somerset/newcastle at the dale will be quality and i wouldn't mind a shot at redcar to avenge the home defeat earlier in the season
-
They are not making it up the rules were set at the start of the season. They may not be fair but they were set and agreed by all promoters. There are always matches that miss the cut off.
-
They are not going to drop a fixture from any team and they are not going to extend the deadline. I agree it's not right but that was the rules at the start of the season and they are not going to change now.
-
I actually now hope monarchs don't make top 2 to avoid Newcastle
-
Well done Leicester. Might get that trip to Beaumont park after all. Lowest away score of the season for monarchs but bigger battles to come.
-
Would really like Leicester to make the play offs as I'd like to go back. However I see the monarchs all but ending their chances tonight. Depends on Claus really, probably at least 5 rides tonight and i'm expecting a top score as he continues his recovery.

Somerset V Edinburgh Koc 27/8/13 @ 7:30pm

A real backs to the wall performance required by the monarchs we know they can do it but will be tough. All will have to be at their best including the manager as r/r at no 5 will leave us weak in a couple of races. I believe we can keep it tight and get our customary 44 points, rebels by 2 and another belted on friday -
Edinburgh V Rye House (pl) 23/8/13 @ 7.30pm

Ryan does 2nd half's at armadale most weeks so I would guess rye couldn't get anyone else. Was steady enough but well off the pace. Excellent lay down in ht6 from a lad of his experience. Glad he got a point but it was 1 more than anyone expected. Strange meeting with the one sided scoreline making it a bit flat despite some good racing. A lot of passes and heat 4 was a belter before the crash. A good performance from the monarchs and hope Josh and Claus are OK. Rumour was Josh broke his wrist, hope that is wrong -

All been said already, fantastic racing and commitment from all 14 riders and a very special night. The cheer from a couple of races was heard in west calder. -

Not the refs fault, that's speedway some you get some you don't. No need to worry about the monarchs we'll be fine. Unless you draw us in the play offs, then you can start to worry. -

If the ref had pulled back a couple of flyers he would have done. Managed to pass kozza smith in ht15 after coming off graveyard gate 4. Only the 2nd pass all night, not too shabby. Another point in the bag and 44 points for the monarchs, minimum away score for us this year when all riders finish the meeting  -

Glad to see cookie put the last few weeks behind him with an excellent win in the Scottish open. To quote him from the podium "I'm back!" -
Edinburgh V Redcar (pl) 7/6/13 @7.30pm

Yawn, this was a clerical error nothing more nothing less. Edinburgh spent too much time trying to find a way to get Theo to both meetings (including practice for the sat event) this is to their credit. It was not possible and they didn't request r/r properly. Edinburgh have accepted their mistake and the punishment. I have absolutely no doubt they would have got the special request if they had asked correctly. I'd prefer Redcar earned their extra point on track and hope it doesn't make a significant difference at the end of the season. -

Golden heats was used in monarchs vs Newcastle a few years back. It was the most dramatic finish to a meeting I have ever seen. We basically had 3 last heat deciders including ht15. It wasn't an aggregate of the 3 races they were one off races, I.e. it only went to the 2nd race if the 1st was a 3-3. On that occasion the first race was a 3-3 and monarchs won in the 2nd golden heat. It was brilliant! It was a play off semifinal. That year I remember all 3 competitions had different rules for a draw on aggregate. Premier trophy: a match race between one rider from each team Play offs: golden heats Ko cup: rerun of both legs No idea if it has changed, I assume it is still a rerun but would recommend golden heats. Some might complain that it benefits the team home in the 2nd leg but it is better than rerunning both legs. Ipswich were excellent at the dale so I would make them favourites but yesterday was monarchs 5th away win on the spin and we've scored at least 44 in every meeting this season so don't count us out. Would love to go to this meeting. -

Ellis was fantastic, not only beat Max 3 times he comfortably beat sneddon twice and scored a great 5-1 against pijper who at times (not tonight) has been unbeatable at the dale. His only failure was ht 9 when he made a great start and was heading for the lead when lanham blocked him down the back straight and sent him to the back. A reserve last in ht15 is no disgrace. He did get a little lucky in ht2, Max was beating him before Richie brought down sargeant and he turned it around in the rerun Strange night for the monarchs summed up by cookie finishing last in ht1 (is that his first 0 at the dale this season?), untouchable after that including a new track record. Risager took offence to him trying to slow the races in ht15 as well. Wins a win and gives us something to fight for but one or two can do better. -
Glasgow V Edinburgh (7 July, Pl)

I can only speak for my dad and I, we normally go through to ashfield for monarchs matches but were at the cup final and will probably choose the tennis if Murray is in the final. That's 2 down and there are bound to be others. I am a big user of sky+ and would love to do both but a scot with a chance of winning Wimbledon is live viewing for me. Glad to hear the crowd at the League cup match wasn't as bad as predicted. Point I am making was without the clash there would have been a bigger crowd and that is likely to be the case again. -
Had to look that up, ludvig on 6.99 from 1st July is 5th. Richie up to 7.41 Actually puts him 2nd after Robson. Strong team but you probably need one of them to kick on as a number 1if you want to win something.

Terrible timing, another low crowds in derby matches are the last thing glasgow need right now -
Only league matches count, Max fricke is the same he won't have 4th away league match until next Sunday at Glasgow. Is lindgren your 5th ave rider?

Leicester were unlucky tonight and probably deserved a point, were on course to get at least that until a disaster in ht10. Nieminen's bike stopped on the 2nd bend and he impeded Doolan forcing him onto the centre green. He got going again and started chasing but was excluded, not happy and stared out the ref at the end of the race wanting a rerun. What looked like at best a 3-3 for monarchs ended a 5-0 and put us ahead for the first time. We then woke up and kicked on but got lucky again in ht14. Doolan was comfortably ahead and stopped gifting a 5-1 and the 3pts. They would have struggled to beat cookie and claus but doolan would have been in ht15 and you never know. We'll take it though. Max was unlucky in ht2 and 8 both times an opposing rider locked up in front of him so he deserved his luck for the win when doolan broke down. Claus deservedly man of the match, his new merchandise looks good as well.

League Cup Semi Finals?
scotchopper replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It has been announced in the monarchs news stories and in last week's programme that the 2 league matches with ipswich are now league cup semis. BTW the statement that monarchs will not be forced to accept a fixture change because of the bspa chairman is utter rubbish, name me one one occasion when any team has been forced to accept a fixture change. I agree that teams should be forced to set semi finals earlier but this needs to be put in place at the start of the season and not introduced half way through or when it suits one team. -
Edinburgh V Workington (pl) 21/6/13 @ 7.30pm

Due to r/r Max should have 7 rides at worky, based on your scores and my maths he will only need to score 6 to get a higher ave than smoking' Joe. Joe at reserve again for a month should be good for monarchs. If he is still injured then a 5.29 guest could be useful.
