Eastbourne V Poole 7pm (on Sky), Monday 30th June.

I just a lowly coventry supporter so what do I know. However Bjarne Pedersen, what a joker, con artist and absolute cheat. His normal typical performance whenever Poole are in town. Pedersen you deserve no respect - hope you sleep well tonight buddy. Wishing you no personal success in the future. Whoops, so angry, forgot the. 'Happy days" -

Hey Batch, from a Cov fan, feel gutted you didn't get what you deserved. Hopefully now you got the confidence to know you can beat them all. Good luck to you Troy. -
Poole Pirates Vs Birmingham Brummies 25/6/2014
markyb replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So what sort of crowd tonight ? Even Matt Ford giving "fans" 10 quid to attend rather than charging them 10 quid may have more suitable. British speedway is in a right mess ! Time for a shake up at the highest level and do something major (but sensible too) IMO there needs to be major scrutiny of how the Poles run their speedway. A defined race night and a squad system - why can't it operate in the uk. Fans being cheated left right and centre. Not so many years ago where I witnessed Coventry away at Peterborough where Cov had Hancock, Hamill, Richardson (rip) and Jonsson and that was regular sort of team for uk supporters - nowadays we lucky to have just one star performer in a team. So sorry to have hijacked this Poole message board, but hey it affects all of us as speedway supporters. Let's hope for "happy days" M -
Leicester V Swindon Saturday June 21st
markyb replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Omg ! So Leicester give a TR to a rider who had 2 previous ducks and comes out with a duck in that ride too. At least Hansen is consistent. Did the team manager turn up tonight - or was he exposed to too much sun today which affected his position. It ain't rocket science mr team manager or perhaps you a few quid better off from the bookies. Happy days -
Coventry V Poole Friday 20th June.

Yeah, but I ain't being mugged off again for a while. Last Friday against Belle Vue made me think speedway (I mean the sport here and not the fact that bees had won) at Coventry had "turned a corner" how wrong I was. It ain't about winning, but the spectacle that goes with a win (or defeat). Am so jealous of the "racing" seen at so many circuits in the English leagues compared to that at an "elite" (sic) club like that on my doorstep. Age profile of the support last night must have averaged 55+, despite me taking my 8 year old daughter. No chance based on last night that the sport (in Coventry at least) is going to survive once those hardy souls have departed this earth - this despite the fantastic efforts of the Simpson brothers - who made a dull night last night at little better ! In the meantime, Happy days ! -

Sorry, you right, if a pass is defined as swapping of positions by bend 2 of the first lap, then hey, there was plenty of passing ! I stand corrected. -

A very very poor meeting in terms of entertainment - let down again by inept track preparation ! 2 passes all night I reckon -one being the Hansen mistake and being passed by Milik, the other of wind by the old chap sitting close to us in stands ! Weather this week has been fine (and forecast as such so no surprises !). There is not a stock car meeting on Saturday and the excuse this time is.......? Despite winning 10 of the 15 heats, there was no point during the meeting where they threatened the Bees - the score line suggests otherwise. Hurts me to say, but Darcy Ward is a class act and rode superbly. Happy days -

So if they sensible, what are the likes of Bjerre, Bridger & Klindt ? They too have no chance of qualfying for GP's next season, but have chosen NOT to ride for their clubs tonight. -
Over the course of the whole evening Tai was the best rider and well deserving of his British Championship.. So he didnt win all of his races, but he won the one that mattered However, for his gardening, be right or wrong, I feel the "spirit" of the sport suffered. Should a directive be issued straight away as to it being allowed / not allowed so all riders have an equal chance. It might be that a shovel and watering can become as much of a part of a riders essential equipment like the steal shoe is, going forwards !. Happy days

What the hell do I know !!! Fantastic gestures from both Hans and Chris in making the line-up for this Friday. Just shows the sprirt that the team has this year. (Chris is setting a precedent for himself now and reckon no way Hans would have done the same in his Swindon colours of last year !) Fans appreciate these efforts and the reactions of the crowd last Friday was the best I seen for a long long time, which am sure will be the same or better this week. Not going to miss this now - having originally been a definate no show before - Now seen the line-up including Jacobs and Summers, so reckon could be a great spectacle - hope the track is prepared well enough to justify the fixture. (just a pity Jason not available !) Happy days -

Coventry vs. Poole - the most looked forward to in the season and we end up with a Coventry Select vs Poole Select. Speedway supporters mugged off YET again. At least the reduced admission price for the meeting means Horton still gets a decent crowd. Oops, sorry, there is no reduced admission, so he gets the crowd he deserves ! Happy days -
So if not a quitter, then how did he manage to leave Swindon for Coventry for the 2010 season ? Happy days I had believed that Kildemand and Morris were also "his riders" - well he done something to upset them both for the scores they rewarding him with at present.
-
Rosco appears to be losing (or already has lost) the battle at Blunsdon and could be time for him to move on. However, that could be ideal for Coventry as it's still not too late to salvage something from the season if he were to come back to us now. As will have been seen over the last few weeks, Mick Horton has been been giving out apologies like they going out of fashion - so should not be at all difficult for him to do the decent thing and to repent for the way he treated Rosco a couple of years ago ! Happy days
-
As a neutral, thought last nights meeting was one of the better ones seen on sky for a long time. And to say that about a belle vue meeting too is quite a surprise. Well done to all who contributed ! Happy days
-
Guess the meeting relies on the track preparation that Sandhu has ordered his "boy" Heaver to arrange to prepare - what with the Stox on Saturday night. Won't hold my breath for anything decent though. Happy days !

Where did you pick this up from ? Tbh am amazed of the latest development, we needed to do something and thought Larsen was the man, but congrats to the coventry "behind the scenes" personnel - just hope it provides the benefits we all think it can provide. Good luck and best wishes to Ryan - hopefully not the end of seeing him in coventry colours. Whenever his testimonial is, he deserves a good turn out ! Have real fond memories of his compatriot Rick Miller's meeting all those years ago and was a real entertainment spectacle - it did show why a testimonial meeting does not have to be a bore "fest". Happy days !

I have been so critical of chris Harris over the last few weeks on this site. Now it is time for me to be the opposite and praise the guy to the hilt for his attitude towards his planned actions this coming Friday in racing for his home club rather than taking part in the GP practice. Not aware of many other GP riders who would or have done the same thing. Would be great for the guy to be rewarded with a good meeting and then maybe the confidence to take into the GP proper on Saturday night. Great team spirit too with regards the "fish" and hans changing travel plans To ensure they around too on Friday night at relatively short notice. I hear another "new" track curator has been brought in. Hopefully they are able to produce a circuit worthy of the efforts of not only those as above, but the other 4 riders on duty on Friday Happy days ! -
Being completely fair to coventry promotion, the weather (I live 2 miles away from Brandon) was absolute "pants" from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm and absolute no brainier for the meeting being called of IMO. I remember back in the '80's talk of tracks being covered up. This after the British Final at Coventry being called off several times due to the weather and in the days of Malcolm Simmons, Peter Collins, Dave Jessop, John Davis et al. (When the British Final was a massive meeting in the uk calendar and Coventry filled to bursting !) Tbh, surprised that technology has not progressed enough to allow for tracks not to be covered up and to be cost effective at the same time. Was going to suggest that with the indoor Speedway GP meetings and protected speedway circuits that you can always guarantee Seeing the sport - then I remembered Cardiff of 2013 , when potentially it could have been a "no go" due to issues with the damp materials being used. Happy days. Mark

I said it before and I say it again - it was the Janniro influence that ruined Ryan Fisher. He came to Coventry initially as a JAWA works rider and to be honest had the world at his mercy. To me at the time he appeared to be the "real deal" to coin a phrase, with him being much better than the crop of American Riders that we hitting our shores at that time or since those we were so used too. I have been critical of Ryan of late, but also very full of praise for the guy in the early part of the season. Like most riders they go through a bad patch during the season and for Mr Fisher it is right now. He is an absolute trier 100 % of the time, perhaps trying too hard at times ! He going through absolute hell at the moment too with his family life ( hand on heart, how many other people would not be affected by the plight of not seeing their spouse and kids, who he has shown loves and misses SO much) He has the ability and talent, but just lacking confidence at the moment for which I must admit as being an hypocrite as I have given him stick on this site. Over my many years as being a Coventry supporter, apart from the obvious Ole Olsen, to me the riders who are memorable include Gary Gugliemi. Mitch Shirra and although not in that same bracket as yet, Ryan will be one as well. I appreciate that Kenni Larsen is in the wings and could potentially do a good job, but just look at he riders he is beating in the Danish league - no idea who the hell they are - not names recognised by most of the uk viewing speedway public.
-
Ok, you got me! Before wolves on Monday it was 6 4th places fisher to 5 for Harris. Now after wolves and Poole it's gone overdrive for fisher 4th places. Shame, but time for changes ! Hope Larsen doesn't let us down.
-
Despite the win at Poole it's now 4 wins in 50 - great captain performance !

Hey Gemini, you been so supportive of my posts in the past - didn't really take it badly - but am I being too hopeful ? What fans need to realise is that they are probably one team supporters - I born and bred in Coventry and will always support and want the best for my team and am what I consider loyal for my home town club - hence my negativity on the plight at the moment. Ask the likes of Chris Harris where his loyalty is. Reckon his answer will be different on a Sunday when he rides for his Polish club and again on a Tuesday when he rides in Sweden and whatever other country he has a team in. Question ? Where are his best bikes - reckon these are following him around the GP circuit - but which country are his next best ? Probably the ones which pay him the best for points and appearance combined. To be honest, why should he not do any different as he has his family and life to think about - and only a limited number of years he can ply his trade. Not just mr Harris but every other rider on the speedway scene. As uk speedway fans are we really getting what we deserve. My opinion in no ! In my opinion, riders such as those in the national league (coventry storm for example) are the only ones worthy anymore, Happy days !
-
Yes, admit I wrong to describe as such for elite league racing, but as Grand Prix "star" - how else would he be seen ? Although for the record - his last 46 starts in coventry colours home and away have resulted in just 4 straight wins ! Need I say more ?
-
Guess I deserve it for my criticism of the "great" bomber Harris on various threads - but the stats don't lie. In his last 27 starts away from home for coventry (per kandysoft and last night at wolves) he has achieved just 1 (yes one) straight win. And yet they are calling for Ryan's head. The way things are going the season ends the first week in September. But who am I to criticise - just a punter who cares - but no longer a reason by all accounts. I have been likened to Robert72 of Leicester fame by the "great" Gemini - well i reckon we both got Passion for our speedway teams doing well and not putting up with average (or below average) performances. If that is a crime or to be ridiculed, then so be it. I was always so critical of mr shovlar at Poole, but now I understand where he is coming from. British speedway has so much wrong with it at the moment it's untrue. However, one or two pieces of good stuff are Garrity and Sarjeant at Coventry - 100 % effort and well worthy of their team places for the entertainment - which is what I pay for to get through the turnstiles. Happy days
