  1. Not sure on the above statement :? :!: On the track excellent riders but personal lives nothing to do with us :!: and just because they didn't ride for Coventry isn't a good enough reason not to rate them Nothing to do with just because he rode for Coventry. And re Mike the Bike and Kenny Carter. IMHO - Mike Lee a great talent as a teenager, then developed into a great rider. But, off track does play a part in what happens on track IMHO. He went off the rails. And I think many know that. Wasted talent and skill that is why 'no' KC - Well I always felt he was too wild and hot headed. But yes another great rider, then 'see off the rails' You can not ignore what happened off track when it ruined or ended what happened on track - "jUST MY OPINION and NO I don't want to create a flame war with anyone. Just clarifying. Thanks
  2. You'd think that the powers to be might try bringing back a few of the prestigious events that Speedway used to have. - Sure some were fixture fillers, and not well supported. But I quite liked the following : Daily Express Spring Classic at Wimbledon as a curtain raiser on new season. And of course the Wills Internationale. At Coventry I liked the Midland Riders Championship and the Brandonapolis. The Superama at Hackney and the Olympique at Wolverhampton (I know they still hold than some times) How about the Golden Gauntlets at Cradley and Leicester before they closed.? You don't get any Best Pairs meeting now either... That would be a crowd puller.... How about Hamill and Hancock, and Adams and Crump, Rickardsson with just about any other Swede! Pedersen and Pedersen the Karlssons (OK Max - just why did he change his name?) And then who remembers Test Matches? England or GB v Poland - Russia Sweden etc And how about the International series they used to have in the 70's Too me I think we need a World Cup based on 7 man teams. It should be held during a 2-3 week period in the summer. With the smaller Nations in one group with the winners joining 7 seeded Nations in a straight Knock Out with the Final at Cardiff - (Or Wembley when its ready) - Sell the TV rights and have our own World Cup say every two years. And different Nations could stage it.
  3. Oh come on... No brainer! Nigel Booocock look at his record over a great number of years - 17 at Coventry. England International and Captain. OK Never World Champion, but a great rider, with a great record. Of course Peter Craven would be up there too, sadly his career ended so tragically. The other PC as well was a great crowd pleaser and a World Champion. But, Booey outlast them all in terms of overall performances at league and International level. He won WTC medals as well, and would have been British Champion more than once had the Kiwi's not been in the race too! Just my opinion. Mike Lee and Kenny Carter! Sorry no.
  4. Now what do you need to know exactly. I did some stuff myself before I left UK and keep it on file. Called it the History of Brandon. Was going to produce a video with a lot of old clips too. Ask Away and I'll try and help from memory as the file on floppy disk was done with Windows 'works' on Windows 95 and can't damn well open it on 'Word' - But I have a fair memory!
