New England Manager?
SuzieQ replied to stevehone's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Errrrrrrrrrrrrr! Didn't work too well at Reading! Too many cooks and all that! then you get the blame culture coming in too, when they would all blame each other and nothing would ever get sorted! Let's face it Shaz, they need a woman to sort them out, kick their butts etc! I vote for MadameMuck! -

Nope that is already been discussed on the other thread where they want a clown to take over! HERE -
Rosco Your Country Needs You.

Now love Mark as I do, even I would never say he was Team Manager material! Fair enough, he should be brought in as a Techncial Manager to advise on set-ups, track racing lines etc, that I feel would be a fantastic move! Mark is not really an "In the spotlight" type of guy he is more a behind the scenes! -
Errrrrrrrrrrrrr, you have seen him at Oxford and suddenly you feel that because of this he is not fit to be Manager! Also, you can ask 95% of the Aussies their views and all will say the same, Boycey is definitely the man for the job! He put Crump in as a Joker when Australia were off gate 1 (good call there on both counts) hardly his fault that the bike went capput at the wrong time! He took advise from Leigh Adams as Captain of Australia and a rider that has ridden the Leszno track for 12 season now oh how best the riders could set up, prepare and what lines to take! Showing here a good skill in gaining the best possible knowledge, other than going up to a Pole and asking them what they were doing! Finally, where the heck does a Polish Supporter get off in questioning Team Managers/Captains of other countries anyway? Make your mind up Sub, what side you are batting for!

Sorry VV, did you ever see Rosco ride? not sure he would have a clue if you gave him the Sun Quickie Crossword! And may I just say damn! didn't realise that Mid's Fan Club was still going! I thought I had stopped running that when he retired! I am missing opportunities here with all the promotional stuff I could get these days! Also, though I am not calling for his head on a platter, I think it is probably time that Mid stepped down at Team GB Manager and concentrated on Poole more, along with his business! But.................... seriously boys! Rosco ? I am still saying Chris Louis as he has all the knowledge, the passion for his country and despite what SS might think, Chris is also very motivational! -
Well there is now way I am trawling back through all the pages on here to just read everyone saying how badly Team GB rode and yet still claiming it is all Middlo's fault! In the league here, if a team does badly it is ALWAYS "this rider let us down" and "that rider was not good enough" and yet when he get to the SWC all the blame seems to be aimed at the Team Manager! Now fair enough, think we all expected Ed, Simon and Oliver to be out of their depth in Poland but who could we have replaced them with that would have been any better? Joe Screen, Chris Louis, Gary Havelock - all riders that could do well but are all nearing the ends of their career now! There are no other youngsters that are better than Ed or Simon (and fit before we get the David Howe fan club here again) To me, we were seriously let down by Scott, Chris and Lee - these are suppose to be our top brits, and they prove week in/week out that they can beat the best! last night they showed that this is only the case when they are on a track that suit them! And as bad as they were, Australia were not much better with Leigh failing to win a race on a track that he has ridden for in the Polish League for 12 years! That says something about track set-up too to me. As for Poland suddenly declaring that Walasek was unfit to take any further part in the meeting, think we all knew that was a crock from the outset, but pleased he was well enough to celebrate with them afterwards on the podium! Now, whilst I don't agree with Team GB bringing in Allen or with Australia bringing in Schlien, I guess they decided what was good for the goose and all that! But, we now have that out of the way for another year and can get back to the nitty gritty of League racing here in Britain!

Georgie Thompson Hosts Race Off & Final
SuzieQ replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have to say here that I was really impressed with Georgie at the Race-off and again tonight. She came across very positively and knowledgeable really, atleast she was told the right things to ask and seemed to know how to ask them! Say we should invite her back more often. -

I'm surprised he can get in there with the amount of Swindon fans that are already there! -

SuzieQ replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Heck No! We certainly need to look at a rider that has either just retired or nearing the end of their racing career (ala Boycey with Team Oz) and with this in mind I would suggest Chris Loius. -

What complete nonsense you do spout Vega! And if Rossiter is the best you can come up with then it just goes to show how sad you really are! Rossiter would fail an audition to join the Muppets! He cannot manage to put polite words together for a press release, let alone a winning or competitive team! And don't bother giving me the crap about how well Swindon are doing, they could that with my cat in charge of them! -

Take it you have picked up on it now then?
-
By the way, it was 1984! Just sat watching it again now!
-
you know when you just get carried away with the moment? Then again, we stand a damn good chance of winning it tonight!
-
I would dearly love to see Team GB do it! There is no reason why they can't! With regards to the Aussies, guess that all depends on what Boycey does with the team, if he sticks with what he has been using or if he decides to bring Davey Watt in for the final! Think I shall go with the flow here and state that as long as the Danes don't win it and Team GB show a good strong force then that is OK! Ideal World it would be: Team GB Australia Poland Denmark edited due to serious blonde moment! Der!

I actually have this meeting on Video and recently copied it off onto DVD! Although I was never really a Kenny Carter fan, my admiration for the guy that year grew immensely! What he achieved on the track whilst riding with that broken leg was nothing short of amazing! How the Collins brothers tried to cut him up in one race still sticks in my mind with Kenny finding a way past them both! The two best parts were when Gary Newbond commented on the track and the weather and Kenny said how it was "P'ing down" (yes he did say the full word) and Gary just said "so it was raining then?" at which point Kenny realises what he has just said on TV and just grinned! Then after Kenny has won the Championship and is being interviewed you just see Wiggy's arm grab his shoulder and hear the words "You F'in deserved it!" (again thw full word used) but to me it showed that atleast someone was behind him in the meeting to do well! Throughout so much of the extremely waterlogged track meeting you hear interviews from John Louis etc all whinning about the track conditions and how it should be cancelled! Yet a little northern guy wiped the floor with the lot of them with his gammy leg! Now I am gonna have to sit and watch that again!
