  1. I want Sullivan to do much better this year... I doubt he'd win.. but closer to the top would be nice.
  2. heeheeeheeee... i rulleee i rullleeeee i ruullleeeee... damn. even lucy's beating me... though that's not really saying much... everyone is.
  3. GP day was blistering.. a nice sleep-in til 12, followed by a lovely lunch, At 4 I headed off to the co-op with my music blaring into my ears, bag over my shoulder.. and it was then that the real fun began... selling cigarettes, alcohol, chocolate, sticking stickers on all sorts of stuff and writing numbers on said stickers, and then, perhaps best of all... counting out about £15 worth of 5p's.... then I plodded home, read my text from a61 (ta!) and collapsed in bed... blistering.. definitely got to do the same next year.
  4. You know what? I think a fair few of you have missed something... There was a fourth rider that probably deserves congrations, he's certainly not one of the riders you would tip for making the final, but he did, so surely he deserves congratulations also! WELL DONE PEPE!
  5. If i've worked it out right, I now have 51 points... still rubbish.
  6. so if i've worked it out right... my team has 19 points... dear oh dear.
  7. sent off, received info... and already signed up my team... class... pure class... keep an eye out for Sean's Showground Superstars'
  8. There's one thing that might be able to ensure this rule lasts an absolute minimum... If we can get enough people to fill this in, perhaps they will consider doing something about this ridiculous rule... sign the petition against the rule that's ruining speedway.
  9. oops... The background kinda confused me... it said crayford, obviously they weren't there. unfortunately I can't take the credit for the photos... as I wasn't around til some 5 years after the event... as far as the problem with where it took place, I'll change that tomorrow when I scan in and upload the other two albums worth of photos... among the goodies tomorrow are; photo and autographed photo of Bob Humphreys photos from canterbury and various other autographs and photographs (which I can't remember the names of from when my mum told me about 2 minutes ago)
  10. right... here are the addresses of the pages showing the photos... Pictures Page 1, Including LADA Indoor speedway 1981 Pictures page 2, Mostly of my dad...
  11. I'll take whatever you can e-mail P.F. Send them to trelawnytiger@aol.com and i'll credit you on the new site. Thanks Chris Basically I've now scanned in 2 albums worth of photos (something like 35 pictures, including a fair few of my dad), leaving two albums to do another night... now if it'll just let me upload the files, I'll let you all know the address...
  12. No photos of Dennis Mallett, but I do have a few albums packed with photos of the Knights (including my dad) from between 81 and 82/83. I mentioned them a while ago, but then we couldn't find them... they've now re-appeared, so I'll upload quite a few over the next few days, and if The Concrete Cowboy would like to use a few in his site, I'm sure it could be sorted out.
  13. cheers norbold... you've confused me. LOL... but I'll try and look into it a bit more, perhaps look for info on the ship or summat (as a while ago I managed to find the ship my ancestors used to sail from ireland to australia in 1850 something!) (the net is a truly useful thing!) anyway, here's the picture that goes with the article.... I must admit fs... that it has got me thinking... it would be sad for the tradition to end (as I don't think any of my same-age relatives indulge in speedway) so I might at least give it a go sometime, though I severely doubt I have the required bravery to compete. (though I definitely have the insanity!)
  14. As I have said before, I was pretty sure that members of my family were involved in the very beginning of British speedway, and here I have an article from a newpaper, on the very beginning, and also rather a lot about my family (with Ray being my dad) There is also an image accompanying the article but, as it didn't upload correctly, I can't show it now, I'll sort it out for another time, though... anyway... the article can be found HERE Other riders at the very beginning included... Len Steward, Tom Wood, Alan Roat, Lionel Van-Praag, Fred Tracey, Len Woods, Bert Jones, Ern Evans, Dick Sulway, 'Bluey' Wilkinson and Lionel Davis.... (with Tom Wood being my great-uncle)
  15. I know it isn't from a year gone by.. but this season has been blistering for Protasiewicz... and quite unexpected too!
  16. I must say I have noticed quite a lot of anti-australian views and opinions recently, none of which backed up or explained as well as pete... here's a few... consider yourselves named and shamed. (I shall now say the following statement with tongue firmly in cheek and with acres of sarcasm as it isn't my true opinion or viewpoint.) I'm just glad the Brits didn't win it! see? it's not big and it's not clever. I'll put the soapbox away now.
  17. Hasn't Ferguson been, and is... successful though?
  18. It appears that my first meeting may have actually been in 1995... as a panthers program has been found... April 21st 1995... Panthers vs Witches. I'll probably scan it in tomorrow if anyone's interested.
  19. Give me about 4 years, though I shall probably email him before then... and probably paste the link.
  20. In that case you may well have known, or at least, seen my dad, Ray Wood, he rode for the Knights a few times in1981, he was probably rubbish, he lives out in Aussie now, and works for the CSIRO in the Textiles area of research. great fun.
