  1. I can't see why this GP is in Sweden this time of the year, every time I've been to Sweden towards the end of August it's been raining & that includes 4 Mallila Gp's & a couple of Gp challenges at Vetlanda. I don't see why they don't swap with Cardiff as there is nothing going on at the stadium at the moment & it's only a couple of weeks to the Stockholm Gp. Seams like poor planning to me.
  2. Thanks for the reply Ghostwalker. The AA website in Britain says that children in Sweden under 18 kilo's must travel rear facing so I don't know if we can risk it.
  3. We are thinking of travelling to the Mallila GP & I don't fly anywhere so we have to go by car. We have a 15 month old child, now I have read that in Sweden you need a rear facing car seat for all children under 3 which would mean a £250 special seat just for Sweden making the trip too much hassle, or have I been misinformed. Many thanks in advance Paragon.
  4. I may well try and get to one of these next year. Definatly no more GP´s now they are even having put down rounds in Poland.
  5. Having been to nearly 100 GP's since it started, I am very disillusioned with the way the GP's are looking evermore to the put-down tracks, so for the first time since the series started in 95 I have not bothered going to one this year, even though I live in Cardiff. There have always been issues with the put- downs but coupled with the new silencers its like watching Motocross rather than Speedway. I remember MJJ's sublime pass round Super Nikki in the final the other year at Vojens, can you see this happening on a rain soaked put-down around a football pitch.
  6. I do kind of feel that the Polish promoters have a point about riders getting hurt at GP's. The standard of put down tracks this year has gone downhill & contributed to some bad crashes in this seasons GP's. I'm not sure that the new silencers help either especially when you have the ruts that you get with the put downs. With the old silencers you had an instant response from the engine which allowed the bike to kind of glide over the ruts where as now the slight delay in the throttle response time causes the back wheel to drop into grooves and then pick up too much grip causing at best a rider to go off line, or at worst a collision. This is just my opinion as a Speedway fan who went for 4 seasons without missing a GP in person , I now would not bother other than Cardiff & I only go to that one because its 20 mins by bus away.
  7. I've driven there three times from Cardiff which is a 2500 mile round trip & I don't think I've wasted my time. I would also rather travel to a proper track in the UK than a put down track in my home town.
  8. surely its about the speedway & on a dry day the track at Mallila is as good as it gets.
  9. If Bomber is now in the line up then there is no need for a wild card. So that should mean that Danny King should be dropped for the next one on the semi final list.
  10. The thing is that the qualifying heats are very much dependent on the draw. We saw Covati beat Emil in the heats which was down to the draw. Riders are much less likely to have a real go for 1 extra point where they might got an extra 5.
  11. I think that the winner of the final should have the most points at the end. The system we have now is a joke, can you see the England winning the World cup in football because they scored more goals in the group stage. No other sport on the planet can have a competitor not even make the final and win the meeting.
  12. If the BSPA gave a stuff about the long term of the sport they could have bought Newport Stadium of the Mallets and run a speedway centre/school where riders could practice & youngsters could learn . The BSPA could have owned the contracts of the riders they are teaching and could be loaned out to clubs with the loan fees paying for the running of the track.
  13. My tickets came from See Tickets and were sent Royal Mail second class so I did not have to sign for them. In previous years they have used a courior who had to take a picture of your house as well as obtaining a signature. I suppose they have tried to keep the cost down as much as possible this year.
  14. Well we got to see the presentation & post meeting interviews tonight, which would not have happend with Sky, we would have been lucky to have got to the semi's without the red button. Well done Eurosport.
  15. I have just got back from a trip to Spain & I used a website called http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/cardiff/ . Now I see they have some appartments available for the GP weekend at around the £100 a night mark. This website is a portal for individual property owners to rent out thier own houses/appartments , The appartment I stayed in in Spain I sent them a cheque & they sent me the keys in the post which worked very well.
  16. Just remember if you hire a car in Berlin there are restrictions as to what makes are allowed to be taken into Poland. If you hire a German make (other than Opel) you are not allowed to take them into Poland with Sixt or Hertz & you have to tell them at the desk that you are going to Poland, if you don't and the car gets stolen you will have to cough up for the car. I went to Lezno about 3 years ago & hired what I thought was going to be a Focus turned out to be a Golf & when I told the bloke on the desk I was off to Poland he swapped it for a Volvo.
  17. A lot of people came from over the bridge from South Wales (like myself) to Eastville following the Newport riders that ended up there. All the best to Andy & his team in thier attempts to get Bristol up and running.
  18. There was no crash Nikki felt a touch from Holders bike and threw himself off to try and get Holder excluded. Nikki is a nutter who as we have seen all season will stop at nothing to be world champion.
  19. Maybe if a British rider had that amount of support we would have a rider to be proud of in the GP's
  20. The problem with the quilification system is that riders who are going well this year do not always go well the next. The only way around this is to have a qualification meeting on the Saturday night where riders who are in form and local riders would be invited to by an organiser/FIM panel to ride, which the top say 4 go into the GP on the Sunday (stuff the Poles like they tried to stuff the GP's) giving a full weekends entertainment for the Speedway public. Cardiff is the only GP i've been to this year & I only went to 2 last season & this seasons Cardiff was my 80th GP. The Germans turn up in thier tens of thousands for Long Track meetings which give you a weekends racing even though its as dull as dishwater with a ten minute track grade after every 2 heats and the Czech Golden Helmet meeting which no longer attracts all the top riders but still attracts a good crowd.
  21. No sign of my tickets yet, just 2 days to go to the practice. No email to say they have been sent or anything.
  22. Yes had same Email, ordered the tickets a couple of weeks ago would have thought they would have had them in stock, If it was a foreign GP I would have left by now.
  23. Well its now the Monday before Cardiff & no tickets. Ticketmaster website says tickets are being proccesed whatever that means, so they have still not been sent out, this means I will have to stay in now for the rest of the week untill they come as there will not be time to rearrange delivery if I'm out before Friday. This will be the last Cardiff I will go to, I've had enough.
  24. People in Cricket have been jailed for manipulating results. What is the difference between spot fixing there, and the deliberate manipulation of heat results in a World Champ speedway meeting? (eg 2 heats where riders were shutting off, and deliberately altering the results, both of those individual heats and possibly the entire event by preventing a Joker being played in the most advantageous heat)?
