  1. Could we ride the second leg at King’s Lynn - to give them a sporting chance?
  2. Presume that BV couldn’t use IRR for Wright because he had already had 3 rides?
  3. Coupled with ‘BV cheated by signing Lambert’, ‘No they didn’t, it was in the rules’
  4. Can’t see a thread about this… Looks like both sides are at full strength so going by previous meetings this season, it should be fairly close and is by no means a done deal for the Tigers. Think we will edge it, but doubt it will be a comfortable night. After a day or 2 of rain the weather forecast is dry all day according to the BBC and Alexa… so the massive downpour this morning didn’t happen and was just my imagination! All fine now with the sun peeping through and a bit of a breeze so all should be good for tonight
  5. It may be in here somewhere, but to save me going through what I’m guessing is 23 pages of Belle Vue cheated v. Belle Vue were within the rules - did they say when the play off final dates were please?
  6. I used to live opposite the track, can’t say that I ever noticed them keeping dogs there
  7. Maybe the difference is that you could access the rear entrance to the stadium, but the incident literally blocked the entrance to the front entrance and car park. Probably a difference in numbers of people attending as well - don’t think the dogs is open to the public in the afternoon (could be wrong on that front though). My daughter normally goes dancing just down the road before speedway, they were advised by the police that they couldn’t open either. They had been told in the morning that the road would re-open early afternoon, but at around 4 they were told by the police that they couldn’t be sure when it would be open and so advised them to shut up shop for the day
  8. There have been a fair amount of showers around today - wouldn’t have thought enough for it to be called off as yet, but some have been fairly heavy so you never know. Looks like there was an incident with somebody having a gun and then crashing into a Police car on Penistone Road during the night. You would hope that they would have it cleared by rush hour otherwise traffic will be awful across the city
  9. Having spent the day in Manchester, I can safely that whilst a bit damp in Sheffield near the track, it is a lot drier on this side of the hills
  10. I can see why you like speedway… always going round in circles!! Nobody is disputing what time the last official dog race was at… doesn’t change what time the promotion can get access to the stadium according to the people who are actually involved with preparing the track… but what do they know?
  11. Just going by what the actual track staff are saying, who I presume know what they are talking about given they are the people doing the track prep. The last official race maybe at 13.59, but that does not mean all activities cease at that time or that we get access to the stadium as soon as that race finishes
  12. Some of the non-running weeks were due to stadium unavailability, so not all down to “speedway” reasons
  13. My understanding (from track staff posts elsewhere) is that we don’t get access to the track until the dogs finish at around 5.30pm. Simply not enough time to get the track fit for racing. if they half arse the preparation and the racing is rubbish or a rider gets injured, the promotion get slated. Just look at the fall out from Cardiff and the number of people vowing to never go back. Fairly sure that the decision won’t have been taken lightly, the income from a local derby would be much appreciated after the number of rain offs etc
  14. To be fair, it rained last night heavily and has been raining pretty consistently since about 8.30 this morning. Wasn’t just a passing shower
  15. Where’s that from? Nothing on the website etc Not necessarily surprised, but just can’t see the confirmation anywhere
  16. It’ll be ok - the BBC weather forecast says no rain today at all… hence I’m at work in shorts and t-shirt with no coat
  17. I agree, totally shambolic. How could the promotion possibly let the stadium owners do work on the stadium that they own and that had nothing to do with the speedway track and, despite not being involved in any way, fail to prevent the workman, who they had no control over, from damaging the track fence, thereby harming their own business. Disgusting behaviour.
  18. Aren’t there normally dogs on a Thursday afternoon as well, so probably not even a full day to try and rectify things. Personally glad to see them call it off at this stage rather than saying nothing, trying to fix it, fail and then call it off late in the day after people have travelled. In terms of people booking travel etc in advance… surely people have been around long enough to know that no speedway meeting in this country is guaranteed. The weather alone puts paid to that. People may have planned to come, but they would be foolish to come on the premise that it was definitely going ahead, There seem to be a lot of people with axes to grind against Sheffield at the moment for no apparent reason. Given the amount of vitriol being thrown at them, you wouldn’t blame the promoters for saying duck it and walking away. The promoters up and down the country plough their own cash into the sport where others either aren’t willing or simply don’t have the cash, and all they get is a load of crap from “supporters” who hide behind keyboards for the most part. Not for one minute suggesting people should put up or shut up, but if somebody started mouthing off at me and demanding that I spend my money on certain things or in a certain way and then criticising me regardless, I would be very swiftly telling them to do one!
  19. Read somewhere that it was the ref who had broken something in the box that killed the tapes
  20. Yes… smoke and mirrors… of course… yawn
  21. Didn’t realise anybody took that chap seriously!?! If you actually read what he says, they haven’t confirmed that there isn’t a curfew at all. He’s just twisted that whichever poor person he had harassed hadn’t provided him with proof it exits… but in all honesty why would they? Sure that they have better things to do than deal with conspiracy theories! It’s not the first time a meeting has had to be abandoned at Owlerton or at other tracks around the country due to a curfew. The last time I remember in Sheffield was against Redcar in 2018 (I think) when Ben Barker had a bad crash. if you read the other comments on Fanpowers’ Facebook page you’ll see various local people confirming that the curfew not only applies to speedway, but also football and the Tramlines gig. if you follow this link - point 12 confirms 10pm as a curfew for all outside events in Sheffield Monday to Saturday. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/business/city-centre-spaces-policy?fbclid=IwAR0eDj82Eex3pN3d65rmZE43YTvG7ggTVh-dIvPyPJcqtDv25EsL9dOo6OQ&fs=e&s=cl You can’t argue with facts.
  22. Went to Leicester last night, Sedgeman was probably the pick of the Birmingham team (granted there wasn’t a lot of competition, but he had his gating gloves on and was mixing it with the Lions at least)
  23. Could one of you local folks tell me if I can pay by card on the gate or if I need cash with me please? TIA
  24. Dominated? They got a 5-1 in heat 15 to take the lead
  25. As you say, a decent starter meeting for the season with some close racing in some of the heats Will be interesting to see how the rest of the Tigers get on next week
