  1. Agree with Grazgp, Barker would have got a few less than Doyle. Andre looked like his old self for 5 heats, hopefully he can carry that on for the last few meetings. Facu had a couple of good races and showed what he can do when he gets himself in the mix from the start line. Greenwood again showed he has potential and had a solid meeting. Lawson was solid, but coming up against Doyle so many times was always going to limit his score. Wells.... Has definitely got Owlerton dialled in now and just gets better and better, hope he stays next season. Maassen looked ok, he debuted against a very strong team who are in form and after everybody else has been riding at this level for the past 6 or 7 months. He showed promise in his 3rd ride and looked fairly tidy on the bike, think he will do ok but will need a decent team around him to let him settle in on a 5 point average. Think tonight was a point gained by Sheffield and 2 points dropped by Ipswich
  2. Unless Andre finds the right set up and scores heavily, I think we will be chasing Ipswich from start to finish. I hope new boy proves me wrong, but not expecting him to score - first match against tough opposition, at the business end of the season when everybody else is up to speed .
  3. Here's hoping he continues in the vein of our previous Germans of Wolter and Kessler and hits a 9 point average
  4. In Sheffield's case, we will be looking to making tactical guest appearances rather than substitutions I did hear a rumour on Thursday night that there would only be the 2 league matches and the PLRC before we closed our doors for the season, it hopefully looks like that won't be the case.
  5. Rider replacement for Howe and Nelson in place of Birks definitely makes Scunny stronger... With Roynan out for us, I fear that another defeat could be on the cards
  6. Before you get your pants in a twist, I had first read the news on the Sheffield forum and stated on there that I hoped he gets himself fit and then does an Andre , ie unretires next season. More than aware the he was dropped - not sure that he would be my first choice to be honest, but couldn't think who else would be available - maybe you would care to offer an opinion as to who you think would be a better choice tomorrow when you've finished a respectable period of mourning (bearing in mind we have meetings on Thursday and Friday)
  7. Palm Toft would fit I think, which would also free up another half point to replace Stead with Cameron Woodward... not going to happen, but you never know!!
  8. His sister has tweeted that he is in Hull intensive care and that the doctors are trying to wake him. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.
  9. How many times has Lawson ridden for Sheffield now? Feels like I've seen more of him than Steady - especially when you count the GB v. Aus match as well.
  10. Stock cars were on last weekend in the rain, not expecting the smoothest of tracks. Sheffield to edge it, but only just.
  11. Who would you take out of the team to bring Sanchez in? Haines, who looks to be getting back to his best? Hall, who prior to his shoulder injury was in the form of his life, and arguably post the injury is still knocking in more than 6 or 7 points that Emiliano would get? Wells, solid at home and our best performer away? Facu, who has shown that he can mix it over the last couple of weeks (like he did early in the season, and with decent equipment would clearly improve his average dramatically? Koppe, who has shown what he can trully do over the last few weeks and could prove to be a steal on a 3 point average? Or that other chap, Stead, who although injured means that we can pick and choose guests from pretty much anybody in the league. think its been said elsewhere, but at present, what would be the point in bringing Sanchez into the team? I can't see what improvement he would make. Also, not sure what his circumstances are - I'm sure that I read earlier in the season, or it may have been pre-season, that he had been offered a place at a few different teams but had turned them down for personal reasons. Does he even want to ride??
  12. As far as I know - James Sarjeant for Koppe and r/r for Haines. Compton is on standby in case anybody else is injured/goes walkabout
  13. Anybody know anything further about the handbags between Roynan and Lawson? the former was complaining that the latter cocked his first bend up in heat 13 - but I must confess that I didn't see anything wrong from where I was stood.Things were still rumbling on after the meeting. In view of the heat 13 clash, I was very surprised that we opted to use Lawson and Roynan in heat 15, they were never going to ride as a team and quite frankly Lawson looked like he really couldn't be arsed in the race (he looked good for the rest of the night once he got the setup sorted after heat 1). Well done to Rye House, they got the better of the first few heats and then there wasn't much to call between the teams after that.
  14. He looked alright at Sheffield last week in the Top Gun meeting, until his engine went bang
  15. The reference to `Sheffield` should be taken with a pinch of salt.... Stead, Haines and Koppe are out and if the USA do the unthinkable tonight, we could be without Wells as well
  16. Wells (World Cup) and Koppe (shoulder) also out for Sheffield. Could be another tough night for the Tigers.
  17. I presume at some point they were released on 'green sheets', how long ago are we talking?
  18. Can't help thinking that Facu just needs some decent machinery under him to make a good rider - he's making the moves but just doesn't seem to have the horsepower to pull them off. As an aside - Ashworth didn't look too shabby after the meeting.
  19. Somebody commented that heat 15 was one of the best races they had seen at Owlerton, difficult to disagree.
  20. Think that you're being unnecessarily pessimistic as to your chances - there are a lot teams that have `historically` done badly at Owlerton that are pushing us/beating us now. I hope that with Roynan signed and Facu at reserve we should hold our own and beat you - might depend on how Worral rides, I seem to remember last year that he was disappointing to say the least
  21. If Steady is hoping to be back for the PLRC, surely he will need a team place... Is he going to be replaced or not? As he will be out for 8 weeks rather than the season has the decision been taken to make do rather than mend?
