  1. I have no idea what has gone on or indeed if he is actually just injured (heaven forbid), but think that people probably need to be very careful about spreading unsubstantiated rumours to the degree of saying he's been taking drugs. Especially by the sounds of it when part of the basis of the story is wholly untrue in that he didn't have a are truck vehicle. Things like that could cause untold problems for him if not true and also for anybody writing it. Don't know the guy other than to watch him race, just think people should stay clear of such serious accusations/rumours. All in my most humble opinion obviously.
  2. I do wonder if Sheffield's track has suffered more than most with the new silencers and the types of track / track set up they are safe to ride on. What we really need is a way of slowing people down as the slower the racing (generally speaking) the better it is around Owlerton
  3. Fair play to the Rebels a very deserved win on the night. Not much more to be said
  4. Agreed - does seem strange timing with so many riders missing. That said, we forced Peterborough into riding last year when they (allegedly) had riders missing so don't suppose we can complain that much!
  5. No is probably the quick answer I suspect! There was a comment from the Ipswich press guy that he'd had an argument with Boocock (I think) when he pulled out of the meeting there and it all seems to have stemmed from that. Although the way it was phrased in the programme that he wasn't going to be riding for us again this year was slightly curious I thought.
  6. What was the Sarjeant / Berge scrap about? Didn't see anything to kick it off, but James was riled up about something big style Get a fire extinguisher for Mr Howarth... He was on fire tonight! Other than that not the most exciting meeting
  7. Fair assessment Spinny. No stand out winner or loser in the field for me. Half a dozen riders with a better chance than others, but on the night any of them are capable of winning races and doubt any will go through the card
  8. For me, Kennett, Summers and Doolan are the least likely to win, followed by Auty, Holder & Wells. All of the others are more than capable of getting to the final. To be fair, on their day, Auty & Wells are capable of making it as well. Possibly one of the most open fields for a long time - in part due to Sheffield's injuries over the past couple of seasons meaning that some of the top riders have guested on a regular basis.
  9. Shame the referee decided to assist the Tigers to ensure that we won with ease, but I suppose those are the rules - even though the riding on the infield one is completely bizarre and unnecessary in my humble opinion! Stead unlucky to lose out on a max due to mechanical gremlins; Bates, still unable to bring his Elite league form to Sheffield; Berge and Howarth had solid displays again; Garrity was Garrity, great attempt to slow the race down for Sissis; Sissis, looked better, but against poor opposition; Greaves also rode, looked good in Heat 2, but was then out ridden again
  10. If you ignore the year he rode for us, Bellego's scores at Owlerton are probably similar to King's
  11. In theory, we should win this at a canter, but Sheffield have been making heavy work of winning at home all season so you never know
  12. As I lay beside a swimming pool in Spain, I can't say that I'm disappointed by the decision as it means I no longer miss the one meeting I was due to miss 😀😜
  13. Stadium availability I think I read / heard somewhere ie not available for some reason on the Thursday night
  14. Bewley was awesome. Bates less so. Sheffield unlucky with stead breaking down when on a 5-1, but Fisher would have got more than 7. Good racing again and fair play to the Scots for a deserved point
  15. Thought it would be tight, but with the Fish being out I think we should win without Edinburgh getting any points
  16. We were saying last night that he has been using the outside on turns 3/4 for a while, but it never seems to get him anywhere - goes into 3 looking faster than the guys in front, but always comes out of 4 behind them still
  17. Tungate shut off leaving Greaves little choice but to do the same or else he would have probably run into him is what I meant
  18. Another good meeting with some cracking racing. Hope JG and CW are ok - presume that the latter will be out for 8 days if he was withdrawn with concussion. Hat off to Arthur for heat 14, awesome ride to keep second place. Frustrating that we know he can do that, but hasn't done it all season. Steady at his imperious best, Garrity had an ok night by his standards, Bates rode better than his score suggested, just not Howarths night, Berge was Berge, another solid showing and Greaves... Unlucky to not get a point when he decided to shut off rather than to ram Tungate but other than that was just off the pace. Talking of Tungate, did he purposefully shut off to block Greaves or was it a fortunate consequence of him doing something which was arguably dangerous?
  19. Agree that Berge should be at 2, for some reason he rides better in that position
  20. Will Sheffield's top 5 ever ride well on the same night? Garrity was immense, although how he only got pulled back once for his starting is beyond me, Stead looked OK and was unfortunate in his last (although not as unfortunate as Covatti), Bates was better than of late, although still rides like he's chasing the hare on the dog track, and then you have the heros of the past few weeks in the form of Berge and Howarth who both had mares by their standards. If all 5 ever ride to their ability in one meeting, somebody will get absolutely tonked at Owlerton. I won't mention the reserves. Fair play to Ipswich, they rode well and deserved the draw, although judging by King's tirade at his mechanic in the pits after heat 15, I don't think he was happy with it!
  21. I know he can be excluded only once - he knocked Bares off first time round and then flicked his back wheel out in exactly the same place in the re-run and nearly took Sissis off. Hard riding I have no issue with, dangerous riding is a different matter. To be clear, Steady's injury was nothing to do with Ully as far as I could see - was actually a bit surprised that all 4 back was given when he fell
  22. Ully was a dirty little bar stool and should have been excluded from the same race twice for his moves on Bates and Sissis. The writing was on the wall as soon as we lost Stead, we were never going to have enough strength in the last third of the meeting. Fair play to Peterborough for taking advantage. Does anybody know what is up with Bates at the moment? 3 points from 5 rides is a bit pants, he just doesn't seem to have any speed.... Berge and Howarth on the other hand are flying and kept us in tonight's meeting
