Wild Cards For 09
Deano4265 replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We'd off loved him to add another one following Cardiff, we'd also have loved him, Scotty, Richardson, Allen, Stead to have done well @ Coventry in the WTC then backed up Tai in Denmark, but hey i expect we expect too much of the ones that always seem to be picked. -
Wild Cards For 09

Maybe maybe not, there's been plenty over the years who've been in that have done squat diddly, about time some took some risks. Some said Casey Stoner was too young for Moto GP, second year in he was World Champ, some also said the same about Lewis Hamilton, i know they're in a different kind of motor sport, but hey give the youngster/youngsters ago. -

Harris, Nicholls and some of the foreigners have failed to light any fires, new blood is needed, some said Tai was too young for the WTC, well he showed what some of us knew about him and how lack luster the others were, too young, not enough experience well only time will tell, those that have the experience and have been allowed in have seriously under achieved imo -

Can't see what all the fuss is about regarding slick tracks, surely if all the GP tracks are slick then it will suit all the riders, yes i would prefer dirt on them but most EL tracks are slick unless it seems only those that are shown on Sky. As with every meeting Tatum, Pearson, Louis go on about how slick the track is tonight and in between races when the riders are interviewed they say tracks slick and/or slicker than normal. With regards exciting new riders that the SGP promotion team are going on about ONLY Emil is the shining STAR, why oh why have they gone with the other 3, what was wrong with Holder, Woffinden, Pavlic IMO -
I loved the Groveway and Elfield Park living in Hatfield was only a stones throw away and used to go every Tuesday night to the later and remember a very good meeting against a Russian select

Come and ride @ Rye - Alot closer than Redcar

What's wrong with moving a club, Terry Russel did it with Crayford when they decided to Turn another stadium into a supermarket, Crayford Kestrels became Hackney Kestrels and what a fantastic few seasons followed with the emergence of Galvin, Louis and Loram to name a few. Hackney Stadium that then became the London Stadium to be finally bulldozed and soon to become the Olympic Stadium which will after the Olympics be bulldozed again and turned into whatever - God we waste money.

99% it seems, get a good rider and KNOCK HIM

My mistake sorry

If you were asking what Martin Hagon, Sean Willmott, Olly Allen, Simon Stead, or even Andre Compton had achieved in their 1st 2 seasons then squat diddly, but looking at this and last season, try telling even the dumbest EL Speedway fan that Tais' achievements are nothing special.

Did it with Carter and Wigg. Carter couldn't win with the British public or his so called British team mates, if he rode well noone noticed, if he came last he got loads of abuse. Wigg won the WLT twice but that didn't seem to matter everyone was on his case as he couldn't get it together in the Individual Championship, but he was a good rider. Joe Screen was another that had the World on his shoulders but never seemed to get beyond the British League. Loram could have been better but for serious injuries that curtailed him chasing another world title.

Yes and there's plenty of hype coming from Denmark, Sweden and Poland and when some of them come over here you just wonder what they hell have they achieved - Emil is a Great Rider as we've witnessed on the Polish TV Speedway Channel, he had a good meeting last year @ Rye but that was the only time we've seen him here, would he be able to do it on a regular basis, WHO KNOWS. Plenty of hype about Nicholls and Harris but what have they achieved NOTHING (Cardiff 2007 HARRIS exception). Both should now be out of the GP's along with a few others.

How many more clubs have to close for financial reasons before they realise that if the prices were dropped and families etc were encourage to go along they might survive - @ Rye it costs me £13 for me and £3 each for my 2 daughters and nephew, £2 per programe that isnt even worth 50p, fish chips from the local chippy as its cheaper and 100% better than they serve up @ Rye plus diesel to get to and from the track. Some away tracks are even more of a rip off Reading and Birmingham £5 per child. I'd like to see a promoter with balls and go £5 a head for everyone including a race card. I live in Hatfield about 12 miles from Rye House, there has never been any advertising in our local papers, posters in or around Hatfield, WGC, Potters Bar, St. Albans, Watford, Hemel, Harpenden, Luton, most have large shopping malls where a stand could be put up with riders taking it in turns to show of their gear. Why do promoters constantly advertise in Speedway star etc, speedway supporters already know what's on. We are now a multi cultural society yet our tracks see very little of the Polish fraternity, and we all know how big it is in Poland. The sport also needs a big revamp and the removal of the points limit.

What Do You Expect On Thursday
Deano4265 replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We qualified then did we - Apart from Tai it was bad - Maybe he should have taken all of Richardsons rides as he certainly didn't warrant being there. -
Let's Get Behind Team Gb
Deano4265 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Give it 3 or 4 Years no - next year we've waited far too long, young Tai looks certain to fill the shoes vacated by the late Great Kenny Carter - Richardson is pants and the way things are going so are our 2 GP contenders - The only good thing about tonight was young Tai, who needs the EL. -
What Do You Expect On Thursday
Deano4265 replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
PL should be proud as Young Tai was the best of the bunch 9 points on his debut and at a track he's never ridden on - as for Lee Richardson and his continued excuses, and that also goes for Mssers Pearson and Tatum constantly going on about how Richardson is a gater. I also can't believe they were saying about taking alot of possitives from the Meeting, only one that i saw TAI. Now Mr Lynch you have a great starting point for the rebuilding of Team GB starting with Tai. -
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_boo...p;search=Search hope this link works - it's for the Travelodge @ Bridgend Pencoed 13.6 Miles from Cardiff £39.00 per room per night

Hi all booked 2 rooms @ Premier Inn 10 miles from Cardiff £150 per family room for 2 nights as we're doing PL pairs on our way into Cardiff and can cancel the day before if we find a cheaper one

[swc] CAPTAIN Scott Nicholls says Great Britain have to quickly put their disastrous Coventry showing behind them as they go back into World Cup action on Thursday. Britain were 25 points behind Sweden when they finished third at Brandon, but all teams start equal in Vojens when Poland and Russia are also involved. A close meeting is expected with two more places in the Final up for grabs, but Britain will need to be much improved on their Brandon performance when they managed just one race won, courtesy of Chris Harris - whilst Nicholls was reduced to four points on his old home track. Edward Kennett and teenage hope Tai Woffinden join the British team for the meeting, replacing Simon Stead and Olly Allen who have not travelled to Denmark. Nicholls said: "We've got to brush Monday's meeting under the comment, and that's not a lame way of looking at it because it was a dismal night. We were very poor and nobody had a good night. "I had a some bike problems in my first few rides and changed bikes, but it's very hard in competition like this to change bikes late on, and we never got to grips with it - it's simple. "We should have done a lot better, some people might talk about the track but we all know how to ride Coventry, so there are no excuses whatsoever. We need to make sure we put it right on Thursday." We all know that Scott, tell us something we don't know

Does anyone know what our averages add upto compared to the other 7 teams in the competition.
-
Having read through the posts i'm amazed @ how some of you think Olly rode well for team GB, sorry but t really was pooh, and his EL form along with Steads leaves alot to be desired. I'd like to know how the team was picked as it certainly wasn't on ability. All i can say is that it's a good job the 4th team wasn't Russia as we'd have been a laughing stock.

I've been to Coventry, in 70, 80, 90's and have only ever seen dirt on th track at one meeting and that was when the late great Kenny Carter won the British Final with a broken leg, the track was a wash and had to be covered in extra shale to try and soak up the water. - Anyway slick or not it was the same for all 4 teams, and 2 riders from the PL had wins, says it all.

Gb Bikes And Tuners
Deano4265 replied to speedy den boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Unless i've missed something on one of the previous posts noone has mentioned that the Danes and Swedes spent more time practicing @ Brandon than the British lads did, setting up bikes etc, then comes the meeting and Mr Richardson says the track has changed, changed for one Nation and not the others, come off it they wanted to win and we looked like we couldn't give a toss, it didn't matter that we were out of the gate 1st, as around the outside or up the inside came one Dane, Swede after another, lets not forget the CZs who had put out a young team for the future. PL's Berwick and Workington both posted winners. Why was Allen & Stead in the team, yes they rie there week in week out but recently their performances have been less than desirable. Why also was there no team spirit, Aussies, Pols, Hungarians and Russians all stood by each other in the 1st round, the CZ, Danes and Swedes did the same @ Brandon what were doing apart from sulking. Roll on Thursday when a Young racer will be let lose - Tai Woffinden. Then maybe a future team of racers will be built. Tai Woffinden Robert Mear Andrew Tully William Lawson Ben Barker Lee Complin Jack Roberts Eddie Kennet To name but a few
