Glasgow v Eastbourne Friday 26 June 2021 @ 7.30pm
solrac replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not bad by Eastbourne when you consider they're effectively riding without a number 1/5 at the moment and Drew Kemp wasn't there. If Kennett doesn't improve considerably over coming weeks then a tough choice may have to be made. A commendably loyal club to its riders but it may cost a playoff spot otherwise. Not sure who would fit/be available though. -

If Kennett was in any kind of form I'd say it'd be fairly close but he's been dreadful so far, therefore reckon it should be a fairly comfortable home win. Be interesting to see how Jake Knight goes (a stylish rider), but Kemp is an obvious miss for The Eagles. -
Is it on the radio tonight?

BIRMINGHAM v REDCAR WEDS JUNE 2ND
solrac replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Never ben totally sure on this point so excuse my ignorance, but how is medical cover worked out/organised/paid for? Speedway is the only sport I know where if a rider needs treatment the meeting is effectively stopped, sometimes for ages. If you're new to the sport/occasional visitor then it would certainly put you off returning again when meetings can drag on for 2-3 hours when an incident happens. As an exiled Eagle living in Birmingham I have some sympathy that the opening meeting went badly, but they've had plenty of time to make the track right and if they were struggling for equipment, why didn't they try and source some from other tracks/promotions? -

Curfew at 10.00pm so unlikely to be completed tonight unfortunately... -
EASTBOURNE V KENT K O CUP 6th June
solrac replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think it will be closer than that, Gilkes is red hot at the moment, Hurry knows his way round Arlington, as do Nicholls and Morley. Think it will hinge on the performances of Heeps, Bacon and Starke. Hope you're right though -
Plymouth Vs Kent (Championship) - 1st June
solrac replied to ellioth4's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Plymouth will be carrying at least 2 riders per meeting which makes things really difficult at that level. Let's hope they pick up and give their supporters something to cheer. -

Indeed. Good luck to Martin and Connor, who've both done a tremendous job in the 4 years the Eagles were in the National League. The club has definitely been re energised under their leadership and it's great to see plenty of young faces at Arlington these days (and plenty of trophies :) ) They'll be regulars there anyway plus Martin looking after Tom Brennan will be a real plus. 2019 looks exciting and an interesting young team being built whilst protecting some of our other assets. Going to be wonderfully odd not being a neutral at he Championship Pairs.

Love him or loathe him, Bob Dugard was Mr Eastbourne and will be sorely missed. Always made me chuckle when he was more concerned with his beloved air fence than the rider who'd just destroyed it. He was also faster in that tractor of his than some of the dodgy reserves we had over the years. RIP Bob.

Good news this, and good luck Kelsey up North.

Great news, welcome Ethan.

I'm a football season ticket holder but will still be going to Cardiff. I can let a friend use my season ticket or utilise StubHub, there's also a load of other matches I can go to, but Cardiff is only once a year so that takes priority. It's more than just a meeting to me, more a gathering of fans from across the country and supporting British Speedway. I accept there may be a drop off of the casual fans but if the title is still on the line, and Tai is involved then the media attention will be much greater. An intrigued, like many on here though, as to the reason why it has been moved to September.

Should be a good one, can see it going either way. Hopefully a few Brummie fans make the journey.

Brummies v Eagles Wed 7th June NL
solrac replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
We'll make the playoffs but no more than that. Unless injuries happen then can only see a Mildenhall v Birmingham final with Mildenhall taking that (even with a James Shanes Birmingham). Can't complain about the Eagles though, had a successful few years in the National league, been very enjoyable. -
Saturday Night Racing...The Rye House Predicament!
solrac replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Been said a few times so I won't Labour the point but if Britain wants flexible race nights and/or weekend racing then it has to be a semi pro or amateur league(s), as rider availability just isn't there. No bad thing imo as the sport would be more affordable and go back to basics. A kind of hybrid of National League and Championship would work well I think. -
Belle Vue v Swindon 14/5/18 BT Sport
solrac replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good meeting imo. If every track was like Belle Vue and Somerset then the numbers attending would rise. If you want weekend speedway then fine, just accept that it would have to be at Semi-Pro, amateur level. -
Good meeting. Have to say Warsaw has overtaken Cardiff now. Packed stadium and great atmosphere. You've got to admire the Poles, they really love and support Speedway.
-
Wow, beautiful day in Warsaw. Not a cloud in the sky, hopefully a fine meeting to go with it.
-
Good result for the Eagles tonight at Plymouth. Took them a while to get going on an initially tricky track, the Devils were arguably unlucky to walk away with nothing. Kelsey couldn't take his first two rides due to a bike problem then had to take both his next rides from 15m! Should be a good meeting on Sunday, tough to call.

Mr Lahti.

A reasonable AGM in my opinion. The main gripe people seemed to have was around fixture clashes, which has now been addressed. I'm not sure why everyone suddenly thought all the 'stars' would be back as we don't pay them near what they want. There'll be a reasonable smattering of good riders, there's no point in bankrupting clubs by offering silly money. The T/R is now gone, which is good too. They'll never please everyone but at least a step in the right direction.

Spot on, the Poles run it properly. Nothing worse than a long drawn out meeting.
