Come on Torun - going to be tough but hope the scores stay close for the 2nd leg!!! Did MJJ just use the f word there when he was referring to other people moving at the tapes?? -
Well done AJ - his form has really picked up now, if only he started like this. Was owed one by Jarek after being pipped on the line last time out!!

The lack of effort (I want to say equipment!) from Harris is plain to see! I think he is a broken man. Doesn't deserve a wild card next year in my opinion. Rather Ward and 2 others take his place.

Thanks! I thought one of them looked like they were not under power!

Great race by Norbi. Panthers legend

Not complaining, just an observation but riders need to adapt in order to make a race of it at least!! I hope Indianerna get there gating boots on. Urm, can someone explain to me why there is a scratch race in Heat 5?? I cannot understand the Polish commentators!!
-
I don't think the track is conducive to exciting racing as the bends/straights are too narrow and even when Lindback tried the cut back there wasn't the space. Good race by Zorro in heat 4! Surprisingly one sided affair so far but maybe it is what Indianerna need as it has been too easy so far and is the kick up the backside they need so as not to slip up in the playoffs!!

Not one of the best meetings I have seen but Torun is still a very good track with its different lines. Great maximum by Adrian Miedzinski -

You mean this race - it proves again what a great venue the EOES is! :-) Glad Troy is riding in OZ this season so he can earn the opportunity to qualify for the GPs!! -

He obviously enjoys his life in Poland and they have always been very good to him so why not?? I'd rather support a sportsman/team that shows class on and off the sporting field no matter what nationality they are e.g. I would have Nadal over Murray anyday. Australia's loss in my eyes, I have said in previous posts that they had a great chance to win this year but they let history get in the way. Equal blame should be put on both sides! I don't believe with Ryan's record and current form on the continent that he has anything to prove. I mean even if he is on the decline at least he was competitive in the GP's and reached World Number 3 unlike Schlein and Watt who have never been in the GP's. 2 time world cup winner and almost made it a hat trick. Since 2003 the Aussies have only had two podiums which shows their decline until this year where they couldn't seize their moment!! Moreover Batchelor will never get into the GP qualifying unless he competes in his homeland, at least Ryan went back home in 2004 and became Australian Champion to earn a spot in GP qualifying. Why is Troy expecting a hand out as per the speedway star article where he was moaning when others bother to make the effort, the prime example was Leigh Adams. -

A good maximum for RafaĆ Okoniewski - was it all from the gate, looked awfully fast in Heat 15 and held of Hampel! :-) -

Just got in from work - what did Ryan Sullivan say about the world cup in the previous match? I saw in another thread that he was cheering on Poland and that Australia didn't want him? Many thanks for any replies. If the above is the case then if I was Ryan he is better off without them. The Aussies would have had a much better chance of winning with Flyin Ryan in the team but Boyce couldn't let by gones be by gones - I was supporting Poland anyway. The Aussies have always had a good core team but it is slipping more and more especially with Leigh Adams now retired and Crump hasn't many years left!! -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedway_World_Cup Although unconfirmed on who is staging the world cup final and race offs Wiki suggests it looks like Sweden (Eskilstuna) next year and the UK (Manchester) the following year to host the Speedway World Cup. No idea on how they reached the above conclusion. -

What a ride from Pepe, blew the opposition away!! Come back to the Panthers please! Looking forward to when the Polish youngsters get blooded into the team, the next 10 years will be very exciting to watch them develop in to world class riders and crush everyone else!! -

Too be fair there was a sign and a steward signposting people to park on the field however from what I saw there was long queues for the loos. I don't know what the alternative is as there isn't enough spacing to place additional portaloos. -

A crowd of 4,950 was mentioned tonight at the meeting. The Polish fans I thought really added to the atmosphere! Kasprzak was in a different class tonight - very impressive and deserved his maximum. Team GB were never going to win tonight but they gave it their all and everyone got a win which should give them confidence going into the Thursday. When Chris Harris beat Gollab on the line it brought the house down!! Lukas Dryml was trying to be the pantomine villian tonight, his reaction when he was excluded was classic. Liked to dish it out but when Wolfy made a comment it sparked some handbags!! I ended up cheering on the Russians - to finish 3rd with a 4 man team just showed how rubbish the Czech Republic were. I don't know how Povaznhy managed to lay the bike down in time and not get heard, I was so glad he ended winning his next heat and that proved crucial in the end. It looked better organised this year and so I hope people managed to get home quicker from the car parks.... -
Darcy Ward reminds me a lot of Casey Stoner in Moto Gp, a bit brash and cocky but is bloody fast and has a tremendous will to win and self belief in ones ability which sometimes rubs people of the wrong way! All the above gives him that extra 5% on all his competitors and sometimes that is the difference to winning and losing. Why can't the British way be like this rather than trying to playing nice all the time and being risk adverse. I mean look at Arthur Sissis who was once destined for speedway. Leading the Red Bull Rookies and is destined to follow in the footsteps of Casey Stoner and will be a future world champion!! Arthur's profile is on the below link - makes you sit up on how adept he is on any motorbike!! What a talent!! http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/RBRC-Riders-en_INT/001242988815931#15

Speedway World Cup Team Line Ups
Boris41 replied to Ben Alderton's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The Aussies have a good core of 3 riders with Crump, Holder and Ward! Now if they want to challenge for the gold medal and I believe they have a real chance surely they must swallow their pride and give Ryan Sullivan his place back in the Aussie Team (7th in the Polish averages) though I am sure Crump and Boyce won't allow it!! I would keep Batchelor as he has performed well for Leszno and drop Schlein though you could argue either way. A real shame that the above won't happen (Ryan may tell them to shove it) as it could give them an even greater tribute for Leigh Adams! A second thing is though NKI was extremely poor tonight I believe he will keep his place with him being a Gorzow rider for this season and is better around the bigger tracks!! With regards to next Monday I believe Team GB must make it through to the final straight away otherwise the race off will be extremely difficult - the British riders don't perform nearly half as well on the continent. A real shame that Rico (record Team GB points scorer?) and even Stead (rides Lynn well) won't be riding as I believe Barker and Kennett makes the team slightly weaker than last year. I am sure the lads will give it their all like last year and I will be cheering them all on again. If the team spirit is as good as last year then that will give them the extra points before they head on track!! -
If I recall he had two opportunities with Ward and Holder on the inside when they were 6 pts down and low and behold they both won! I was shot down when I said Boycie cost Australia the world cup a few years ago and tonight proves again his inability to cope under pressure when making critical decisions.
