  1. That pretty much sums up your now obsessive like input on this thread! Come on, time to put up or shut up. You've been given the opportunity to ask Tai directly the questions you want answers to, make the most of the opportunity and do something good with it too. Sponsoring the meet up to be recorded for the Ben Fund could raise a fair bit. It's a win, win opportunity, you get to ask your questions, Tai's doing a bit for British Speedway and the Ben Fund profits from it all.
  2. Now, there's potential for a fantastic fund raising idea here. Robert72 is clearly very passionate, and rightly so, about the Ben Fund, lets get a Go Fund Me page or something going and sponsor his "Time with Tai" to be recorded. All proceeds going to the fund. Tai will be doing a bit for the cause, but the real star and winner is going to be Robert. Being this will be a charity event, and Robert72 is an ex-rider who shouldn't really have to pay to enter any speedway stadium in the country we should make sure a ticket for the SWC is provided too. Come on Robert72, lead by example, this could be great for the Ben Fund!
  3. Oh dear, the sport gets a grand spanker of a purpose built stadium, a fantastic shape and sized track that really wouldn't look out of place in Poland and has the potential to be the best race track in the country, and what do you get? Green eyed monsters and our very special Starry of all people, declaring others are easily pleased! There's been many spectacular stadiums promised, many great tracks planned, but when was the last time something this good actually came to fruition? I can't think of anything that's come close in the decades I've been watching the sport. Back to last night - it was a good entertaining meeting with some good close meeting and a close scoreline througout. Can't ask for much more than that really.
  4. Wouldn't bother with the footie if you're a Wales fan
  5. I enjoyed the meeting, you could see that the track wasn't at it's best, but all the riders just got on with it. The crowd were brilliant too! That's what a speedway stadium should sound like during a meeting. What I'd give to have a PL team to support again Sure you don't get the 'big' stars, but the riders you do get seem committed and more importantly seem to actually enjoy their racing, rather going through the motions or taking it too seriously.
  6. The oracle of all things British Speedway, after consultation with his facebook friends list, has spoken. Tai shouldn't line up for Team GB in the SWC. He will, but he shouldn't.
  7. No, please don't stop it now. It's priceless. Woffinden is apparently an ill advised multi-millionaire who, if he was a true Brit would be more interested in gaining British Final titles rather than world titles individually or otherwise.
  8. Bratchelor! Hilarities aside, that was a great meeting with some fantastic racing - well done Cov
  9. That's fair enough though isn't it? He could use the meetings for practice/testing like Nicki P, but it's hardly a competative meeting for him to contest.
  10. You and others although I can't think of anyone who shares their view on Woffiden missing the British Final as ferociously constant as you, are of course entitled to your opinion even if it is a minority view. Has anyone actually stated that they didn't go to the British Final because Woffinden wasn't riding in it? You asked the question Should TW ride for Team GB. The sensible answer is of course he should if he's willing and able to do so. There's nobody else from the current crop of British riders who could replace him in the GB squad and could match his performance and scoring power on track? I'm hoping Rosco does blood some more youth in the squad this year, and that they learn from the professional set up Woffiden has build around him which has no doubt contributed massively to his success. Nobody holds a gun to riders heads to race in the British Final, or in the British Leagues, but Woffinden has given the British leagues what 10 years service from the bottom up, won national titles and through his determination and effort has progressed to be a multi world champ and current world no.1. Isn't that every speedway riders dream? Why if his current schedule and lifestyle is working for him would he change it? Out of interest, what were your views on Lee Richardson and Scott Nicholls quitting Team GB?
  11. Maybe because nobody else is obsessed with it like you!
  12. You really do have an issue with Woffiden don't you. What happend Rob? Did his Dad fence you or something whilst you were 'racing'?
  13. Not at all. Nicki has recently moved to Monaco and was confirmed as a multi-millionaire. Fair play to him and any one else who's able to make that sort of money out of speedway. This certainly wouldn't have been the case for world champions 20 odd years ago. I was refering to Nicki's quote of "I don't give a f@ck about the Danish championship" after finishing 3rd in it and admitting he used the meeting to test equipment. Robert hasn't vilified Nicki for this when this too could be construed as cheating the fans and having no respect for his national title. To be honest, there are quite a few similarities between Pedersen and Woffinden. Both are arrogant, both are determined and focused on winning, both are successful. Quite a few people (myself included) have warmed to Nicki over the years, and see these qualities in him now as quite endearing. I think because Woffinden is younger, some people see these exact same qualities as a negative. Whatever the top riders are doing, they're doing for their own good and their future after a relatively short lived career. Who can blame them for that?
  14. Did you see Nicki Pedersen's quote after riding in the Danish final?
  15. Whatever the minimum criteria to achieve a CMA was in the years they rode - I don't follow rules & regulations now a days, but what is is now? 6 home/6 away meetings to achieve an official CMA?
  16. If the BSPA are looking into this, it shouldn't be too difficult to set criteria. World Champ, represented Great Britain/England, celebrated a testimonial in Div 1/Div 2 with a British club - free pass Achieved a CMA, and rode in the British Leagues for at least 5 years - tiered pass offered. It's quite easy to sort the wheat from the chaff really. Probably just the hangers on who will cause objections.
  17. There needs to be a definitive qualifying criteria for sure based on service to British Speedway. You can understand why some promoters are being a bit twitchy about letting anyone who claims to be an 'ex rider' in for free when you think about the hundreds of juniors who got called up to fill a reserve place for a meeting or two at the last minute. And if someone wants a full season pass to enter any track in the country they need to be paying more than £50 into the Ben fund for the privalege! Maybe their needs to be tiered passes? Single club entry for 10 meetings per season at one rate, full season pass to any track in the country at another?
  18. Me either. 19. I'm not the one pretending I was a professional speedway rider! So this poster who's reported to be Rob Homer of the late 80's, across his career took part in 10 official meetings, rode in 44 races which netted 16 points in total, wants a free pass to any track in the country for £50! You've got to admire his nerve!
  20. Obviously didn't make a fortune out of the sport, although he's still to put up who he actually is and what he actually achieved, offering £50 towards the Ben Fund for a season long entry pass to any stadium in the country, that would equate to what 2 and a bit full admission costs for an EL meeting, maybe 3 PL meetings. Expect he'd want a free programme too!
  21. Not at all as Leigh gave more than 5 years service to British speedway. As for rider who have made good money out of the sport getting in free, they would tend to be stars of the sport who like I said fans would be interested in hearing from or talking to, rather some old 2 bit rider like you!
  22. Wellie was part of the Management Team at Reading then, so not an ex rider getting in for free. He was one of a kind of course who could probably of got away with charging promoters for his attendance at their stadium for his entertainment value. I like the idea of an 'ex riders pass' with subs from which going to the Ben Fund. Even with this though, there needs to be some qualifying criteria such as 5 years services to British/National or EL/PL or a career ending injury sustained on track. Of course you'd never expect the likes of Rickardsson, Ward, Hancock etc to pay to get into any stadium as the likelyhood is if they did attend a UK meeting they'd be publically interviewed during the meeting and adding to the entertainment value in that way.
  23. If the Don's weren't going to move up, he had to move on. I mean come on, he went from reserve to heat leader within in few weeks after his British League debut in 1990. Best £20k Pat Bliss ever spent
  24. I think the fact that Todd was able to come back after 7/8?? years out of the sport and become a star of it again is testament in itself to what a special kind of rider he was.
