  1. I guess maybe because the clubs of the British riders who have suffered similar injuries don't seem to give a toss about them anymore? I'd love nothing more than to support a benefit meeting for Garry Stead who was a fantastic servant to British Speedway, but it needs someone within the sport to make this happen. You can't really blame Poole for looking after one of their own, or Ward for that matter who I believe had a major part in getting this meeting to happen. On reflection one thing I do know, is that I will never go to any kind of benefit meeting where Doyle and Holder are among the main draws again. The track was far from perfect on Friday night (and that;s down to Poole) but it was rideable, the only faller was on turn 3 yet we were told turn 1 and 2 were the problem. Whinging bloody aussies was the main problem - It only needed one to instigate the call off and they'd have all back each other up, I doubt Watt or Batchelor took much persuading not to continue the meeting. They let down a lot of supporters Friday night, and one of their supposed mates too, Still hopefully Holder got to his beloved Torun a bit earlier than planned because of the call off!!
  2. Shocking, just shocking. 3 newbies with us tonight, all under 25 and local to the Poole area - they won't be back and won't be recommending the sport to any one they know in a hurry. No re-admission tickets issued on entry, we left before it was called off it was such a shambles so no idea what was said about re-funds or re-running the meeting in the future. I know the meeting was all for Wards benefit, but he said himself he wanted to put on a show. It was anything but, unless you really, really enjoy watching track grading - must have been close on 90 minutes of track grading in the 2 hours we were in the stadium. Was a big crowd, but I agree about people not going in the future - as Holder stated over the PA whilst they were talking to Ward no the phone, it was f*cking sh*t. You do talk some bollox.
  3. Not the time or the place Gustix!! RIP Bryn.
  4. Yes, really! Tim was a team manager when they actually had to think and had more of an input into meeting results. As we've seen in recent years, pretty much anyone can stand in the pits with a programme board and do the job these days.
  5. For his knowledge and understanding of the rule book along with his tactical awareness, Tim Sugar was one of the best team managers around during his time.
  6. Must be true, the Express are reporting it too now! Genuinly hope that Swindon do get their new stadium & track, would be nice for GI to actually build one of these nice new stadiums they've promised so often in the past. The constant delays do have an ominus feeling though.
  7. I can imaging there's plenty of strange men at Coventry & Leicester Gem
  8. I'm not so sure Robert72 is Rob Lightfoot. Bob72 is quite the pedant and the About Us page on Rob Lightfoot's business website is littered with spelling and grammatical errors, he wouldn't miss this attention to detail surely? http://www.robertjamesinteriors.co.uk/about_46_3.html Wonder if Rob Lightfoot still attends speedway, does anyone recognise him from Cov/Leicester - would guess they're his local tracks if he does still attend
  9. Phil Morris' Wizzer nickname came from the centre green presenter at Smallmead (Clive Fisher I think) calling him the Welsh Wizard. He was called quite a few other names by away supporters over the years too
  10. Reading did in 2006 as well up against Swindon, we still won.
  11. Malcom 'Mad Wellie' Holloway Wellie's nickname came from his time at Milton Keynes where he would turn up in his work gear straight from his day job, which included wellies!
  12. Robert Lighfoot was a rider though C4G, and if he is Robert72 there is substance to his previous claims on here - there's also a lot of poetic licence in those claims too.
  13. 72 is also a noodle dish at our local takeaway - nophoo-king-gud
  14. That was 30+ years ago though, maybe he's regressed It does seem strange, normally old Bob72 is over any thread where he might get some attention like a tramp on chips, but as Doc has mentioned, is giving this thread a wide berth! Robert LIghtfoot runs a furnishing business in Warwickshire now, his biog on the company page refers to his brief speedway career.
  15. I'd love to see Lakeside go on and win the league title this year, but realistically there's probably as much chance as Starry holding court with Stephen Hawkins as that happening. Lakeside should keep the Aces honest on Monday, but can see an 8-10 point aggregate win for BV overall.
  16. Looking at his results Robert Lightfoot did win the British Junior Championship in 1981, I was watching speedway then. Some good riders have picked up that title along the years, Havvy & Loram both won it once, Woffinden however out did them all with 2 titles.
  17. Not a name I remember. http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/1731/rob-lightfoot
  18. Because you can book tickets online, as you think this is them getting above themselves. Edit: Oh and because apparently 95% of BV fans who get the Speedway Star each week buy it from the seller at track. Sells the most issues at track across the country so I hear.
  19. A free ride, when you're already paid online through the booking office
  20. You'll find that Poole are behind the times if they don't offer online booking. Even Swindon offer this service and I've not been to Lakeside for a few years, but last time I did visit they let you pay for admission on entry with a debit or credit card! No queing up with a couple of piglets and a dorset apple cake under your arm to try and barter your way into the stadium there!!! Based on what assumptions? How often have you visited BV's new stadium and researched this? The guard is most definately changing in the EL, with BV now the club of the moment with the best stadium in the country, so it should be a cracker tonight. Poole did ok on their first visit to the track a couple of weeks ago and with a guest now for Andersen are a bit stronger this time around. Still think BV will win the meeting and secure top spot in the league with Poole maybe nicking a point.
  21. Or start going back over old ground and drag the forum into their petty arguments . Still give it a few days and they'll all wind themselves up into a frenzy and get banned for another month again, remember that month in the summer? Nice wasn't it!
  22. Apparently so, and it's part of a master plan so he can lightfoot it over to ride for the country he calls home.
  23. PLEASE! Let's not revert to turning threads back to a mixture of a game of guess who and an episode of through the key hole of 'yesterdays' junior speedway riders.
  24. Maybe the Dr was with the injured riders n the pits on both occasions. Sure racing can't commence if the Dr or Paramedic isn't on the centre green. 2 hours has always been the norm for a 15 heat speedway meeting. Do you want a meeting done & dusted in 45 minutes?
