Jeez, sounds like some people on here would like riders wrapped up in cotton wall and a new rule introduced which meant riders could not come within 4 feet of each other when passing! Speedway is supposed to be a non-contact sport, but a bit of aggro or a bit of tension between riders and an overwhelming desire to win from some makes it the sport it is (and has been for decades!). Speedway is in danger of becoming far too sterile, and some of the fans aren't helping with their over the top polically correct comments and beliefs. An elbow here, a bit of a shove there..... all part of the sport and has been going on for many, many years without major problems. Now all of a sudden we have the luxury of Sky sports and their slow-mo replays and some people are up in arms about the slightest of things which they would have never of seen normally. As it's already been stated on this thread. Nicki didn't seem to have a problem with Jason on Saturday, so why the hell should some of the fans on here! Mountain and molehill are two words which spring to mind! Get over it! Or if speedway is becoming far too physical/dangerous for you go and watch bowls!

That's the one piece of consolation I take from all of tonights speedway. That said, with Swindle's play off hopes now in tatters, let's hope your 2003 SWC gold medalists can help ruin Oxfords hopes too on Monday.

You weren't watching very hard then - he certainly did! Can't say I do watch Hans with much interest. Some strange reason I found myself turing into a Crumpy fan tonight! ..... "C'mon Jason!!" ..... still doesn't sound right, but I worked on it tonight.
-
Just goes to show what Andersen can do when he wants to race! Noticed he didn't look round once until he crossed the finish line during his races tonight. Well done Hans <says through gritted teeth>

GP of Slovenia wild cards
Wackie replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They were in one of the qualifying rounds which Russia (I think) went on to win. -
Believe his best bikes were on route back to Poland from the SWC when he only scored 1 at Wroclaw.

GP of Slovenia wild cards
Wackie replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Matej's going to be a spoiler at this one thats for sure. Was hoping to get over to Slovenia to watch this one, but unfortunately other priorities have cropped up You'll have to cheer twice as loud for Matej Tomaz to make up for us Wackies who can't make it there. -
yeah I saw this mad brit girl in a raincoat very much the worse for wear and draped over some german/dane geezer - anyone know who she was? Haven't got a clue. Be careful what you say though Splatty, can't go posting slanderous or libelous comments on here, said person could turn around and threaten legal action.
-
And some of them can even spoil your photographs eh Wackie Rico Should have seen some of the others that got spoiled. Some how Terry Russell appeared in them!
-
Beware of very p*ssed Brits then, there were a few of them around the Grandstand this year too!

You really shouldn't form opinions on people/countries from one bad experience Jessica. Think about it, many fans who attended the Prague GP had been there some 4 hours before the meeting started with limited options on how to while away the time. Can't blame people for having a beer of two, I know I certainly did during the delay, and we met some fans (British) who were going up to the stadium around 12pm to "get into the party mood". If you didn't like being in the middle of the Polish fans, maybe you should have purchased tickets in the seated area's. There was no pushing or jostling going on there, in fact we had a right old party all night. As for peeing in the bushes, jeez girl, that's not just a Polish thing believe me! If you never go to Prague or visit any stadium in Poland to watch speedway again it'll be your loss. Really quite jealous of all those travelling over to Bydgoszc, we're already certain of attending either the Czech or one of the Polish GP's again next year - and the more Poles that are there the merrier!

Line up for final grand prix qualifier
Wackie replied to Govinder's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He'll have to perform a whole lot better than he did last Saturday. Its just a shame your mate Ryan isnt riding as given his current form the only flying he should be doing is back to Australia. If I was an Oz fan Id be extremely annoyed with his performance at the WTC but Im not so I was glad to see him so crap and them take the early bath If you think he gives a flying wotsit about the SWC then you are living in la-la land. Well that's a disgrace and a huge shame for the younger Aussies over hear who would have probably jumped at the chance to represent their county in such an event. Hopefully Neil Street will give some of the kids a chance in next years SWC, they can't do any worse than Sullivan did this year, but at least they'll be trying. -
Line up for final grand prix qualifier
Wackie replied to Govinder's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He'll have to perform a whole lot better than he did last Saturday. He only scored 3 points less than "Throttle Hans of God Andersen" who had 1 ride more. Personally thought Norris's performance on Saturday was ok, although I'm sure he probably thought he could do better - lets hope his frustration is converted into points and a 2005 GP place this weekend. -
Hope that's not put the kiss of death on their chances ML! To be honest this years U21 final has got to be one of the most open for ages. Quite a few riders in there with more than a shout, and quite a few spoilers lining up against them. With no Brits to cheer on, I'd love to see either Janusz or Matej lift the title and both are capable that's for sure.

Line up for final grand prix qualifier
Wackie replied to Govinder's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If Watson qualifies Newport could be in the poo poo. Can't see him being able to get back to South Wales on a Sunday for 2pm starts following GP's next season. Looking at the line up, I'd expect Floppy & Peter Karlsson to qualify (or will PK return the favour and help Andersen through?) -
Maybe you knows more than all the rest of us ? No, just an opinion which I still think could be likely after reading about his interview on Danish TV and a quote from a fellow Danish rider stating he wasn't injured on Monday. If personal threats have been made to Hans via phone or by post then I hope he's got the police involved, that's a far more serious matter than some heat of the moment comment posted on a public forum. Comments made on the internet are the only things that have been reported as possible threats though haven't they? IMO the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. Sports always have people we just love to hate and Speedway's no different. This week Hans is taking the lead role, next week Nicki Pedersen will probably take the role back from his young understudy.

Wot? You mean I'm the only one then dammit? Maybe some of the others will try & walk in with the breeze block on their shoulder, would make a change from a chip!
-
I very much doubt it wjasica. Seems to me that a few people have taken things far too seriously and can't see beyond all the heat of the moment stuff. We've had riders before trying to knock 6 bells out of each other on track and fans of said riders sticking their oar in saying things like "next time he rides here, I'll have him" etc. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS - It's all talk, and as others have stated all a big pantomine! I'm pretty sure Hans Andersen is, to some extent, using comments made on this forum and his own guest book (where comments made were far worse than on here) as an excuse to duck out of British Speedway for a match or two. He's not flavour of the month at the present time with many people involved in British Speedway from promoters, team managers, riders all the way down to the fans, and his mysterious 24 hour injury will do nothing but add fuel to the fire of people thinking his non-appearance was really due to a guilty conscience! I'm sure rival riders have said things to Andersen previously after on-track incidents (Floppy & Lee Richardson spring to mind recently) which he's shrugged off, and got on with things. Personally, I'd be more worried about other riders making comments than fans on the internet, after all they're the one's in close proximatey to him throwing 500cc motocycles around bends just inches from him. Instead he's chosen to claim he fears for his safety because of some off the cuff, heat of the moment comments made by people who will probably only see him ride on tv this season. I mean, can you really see fans carrying breeze blocks into stadiums hidden under their jackets to try to lob at him as he wizzes past at 60mph! Me thinks, Mr Andersen knows there are far more people than just the fans who weren't amused by his antics & tv interview on Saturday night and is trying to spin things around slightly now to get a sympathy vote! The sooner Hans finds his bottle, the sooner this will be over and forgotten.

I'd just leave things alone. If the webmaster and about five moderators have not removed the posts you don't like then they have obviously not crossed the forum boundries. I don't agree with a lot of things that have been said, but it does give one an insight into the personalities of some forum members and whose posts to bother reading in future. If you start emailing the webmaster and complaining he might just get so cheesed off with it all that he closes the forum down and we don't want that. I'm not sure that I want to be a part of a 'family forum' that appears to endorse the throwing of a breeze block at a Speedway Rider whilst he is competing. Maybe it was a bit of a stupid comment, but probably made in the heat of the moment and not intended to be taken seriously. To be fair, what are the chances of someone actually getting the timing right of throwing a breeze block 5m or so at Andersen and actually hitting him whilst he's riding past at 60mph? presuming of course he doesn't suddenly slow down/shut off* at that particular moment due to him spinning his t*ts off/or to allow a Swedish rival through to clinch the SWC* * delete alternative option to suit personal view.

Get over it Flyin Ryan, there have always been villans in speedway, Andersen & Pedersen are just modern day versions. A few years down the line they will have been forgotten and new villans will be around. Andersen himself said he expected some stick about the incident on Saturday & went on to say it wouldn't bother him. At the end of the day, it's only a sport and a little bit of needle just adds to the drama and excitement of it. Here's hoping Eastbourne v Ippo is on tonight!

Time to go oh Middlo
Wackie replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
4 attempts but this was the first one where he was able to track a fully fit squad and look what he nearly achieved! The fans like Middlo, the riders like Middlo why change something that's finally beginning to work? -
Seems like it worked for Hans last night SCB, bet the amount he agreed with the Swedes was more than £20 though!
-
Ahh, that's just Boycie doing what Aussies do best...... whinging! Of course, in his time Mr Boyce has never over ridden a little, or picked up a bit too much drive coming out of a corner has he! Lindback is young, keen and inexperienced when it comes to meetings of this standard, but has a huge will to win - and that's maybe something one or two of the Aussies from last nights squad could do with a lesson in.
-
Ah yes Orion, I also remember that day well. Swindon fans around Smallmead already celebrating an away win over their old foes before ht 15 had finished - then along came Janusz with that superb cutback on the last bend to shoot past Olly Allen and a draw for Reading - yep, pure class. Quick message to other Promoters out there who have now probably been made to sit up & take notice of who this young talented Pole is:... HANDS OFF, HE'S OURS!!!! Unfortunately though I can't see Janusz riding for Reading or any other British club for a while. Polish authorities seem to keep a tight reign on where their young prospects ride, and even if they do allow them to sign for British teams seem to be able to pull them back whenever they want.

Was there also a story about Shawn Moran having to pretend to be Kelly at the beginning of his career as he was too young to race over here?
