He scored more than Mauger in the '76 world final so got to come back at least on an 8pt ave. Self confessed cheat as well, ideal rider for Poole team
-
Just a thought, or wishfull thinking Any thruth in the rumour Ford has been trying to contact Todd Wiltshire?
-
Gollob would probably be 8 as he's not ridden here for so long. It's irrelevant anyway. Even if they were all on a 7pt average, none of them would be signing for Poole. Surprised nobody's mentioned TRick coming out of retirement yet!
-
Oh purrleasse..... You could thatch a roof with the number of straws Poole fans have been grasping at! AM's replacement won't be Billy Hamil. The guy retired years ago and is in full time employment! He turns out to help his country in a couple of meetings and all of a sudden he's making a comeback! Hancock? Nah, far too busy these days with speedway, family and monster comitments. You might have got him at the beginning of the season for a few months, but he'd have been gone by now too. Jonsson? Can't see Lakeside letting him join another club when they're likely to reach the play off's and will be looking for another rider to try to fill the gap left by Lee. Gollob? About as much chance as him signing for the Pirates as there is Colin Horton apologising to Oxford fans! Crump? see above ^^^ Sayfutinov? see above^^^ Sullivan? More chance than any of the other names - but still very doubtful So, looks like it's going to be some dodgy pole or Jesper B Jensen! Great management on Ford' part for securing a rider (albeit illegally) on a falsely low average at the start of the season, but not so clever knowing that rider would only be in the team for X number of meetings and not having a suitable replacement lined up.

So Ford has confirmed Pawlicki and Lindback have turned him down. They'll be measuring Middlo up for a pair of kevlars at this rate.

Rico Memorial Meeting
Wackie replied to Sprog1's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
That's my concern. Lakeside may have lots of room, but there will be restrictions as to how many people they can let in the gate. I don't want to travel all the way around the M25, get stuck somewhere and arrive a bit late to find out I've missed out because they're at full capacity. Pre-sales of tickets has often been the case with these type of meetings, we had them at Reading for Per's benefit meeting, was no problem then with people thinking it was all ticket, as long as it's advertised as tickets being available in advance, or on the door then there's no problem, and one thing Lakeside can do is promote a meeting properly. Personally I think Pre-sales of tickets is a good idea anyway. You get the money in the fund pot up front, so if people do cry off if the weather looks a bit iffy, illness, work commitments etc Rico's family fund won't miss out as the tickets already been paid for. Got a feeling there will be lots of people wanting to attend this meeting, if Lakeside sell tickets in advance I'll be buying ours that way. -

Ben Barker V Tai Woffinden

Maybe, but what neither of them knew was Darcy had already knicked it for his collection. -

So the alleged handbags are now either something to do with nationality, women or money. It's probably more likely a case of two lads in their early 20's, not being able to handle their beer, and having a pop at each other at the kebab van on the way home. ... or Ben broke Tai's scalextric! -

I don't think anyone resents the success Tai has had in his career to date. What some other British riders may resent though, if Jayb's comment is a true reflection of what what allegedly happened, is a current member of Team GB showing disrespect for the nation he has chosen to represent possibly at their cost. -

I like Tai, and hope to see him progress into one of the best in the world, but he sure hasn't attained excellence yet! -
Fingers crossed Janusz gets the nod for 2011. He's been more exciting to watch than AJ or Andersen for the past couple of years!!

If you live in a non Virgin area you're pretty much stuck with Sky and have to pay £20 a month for the Sports package, but can only have sports if you have at least one Entertainment pack as well which cost a minimum of about £20. If you only really need Sky to watch speedway, you're paying £40 a month.
-
And for those of us who pay £40 a month to Sky just to watch the speedway it's a justified whinge! I'm not around for the start of the meeting so was going to Sky+ it and start watching it when I got back home about 8pm. Not able to do that now, and no point watching it live as the meeting will be two thirds over by that time. Feel even more sorry for the Virgin viewers who don't have the option of watching it live on the red button at all! And no, I shouldn't "just be grateful" that speedway is shown on Sky at all, it's not as though they are doing me a favour showing it, I pay a premium for the privaledge!!! Getting more & more p!ssed off with the way Sky is dealing with what is supposed to be Speedway's showcase event, I thought it was one of their more popular sports they showed! Since Reading closed, I've been losing more & more interest in speedway, the weekly EL meetings are generally less entertaining than some of the Poole fan's attempts at humour on this forum, it's only been the SWC and GP's that have really kept any interest alive for me, and now Sky are starting to screw about with them. I could quite easily stick to BSB, WSB and Moto GP on Eurosport and save on the Sky sports subscription each season, and that's looking more and more of a possibility next year.

Cheap Air Horns For Cardiff & Swc
Wackie replied to Noodles's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If you wait until Thursday, i'm sure all these 99p stores will be giving England air horns & flags etc away. And for all the moaners who don't like the atmosphere the air horns create in a stadium, i hope u brought your cardiff seats in an airhorn free zone. After all, they've specially sectioned off these areas for all the miserable old gits. -
Do they still charge face value for buying from the ticket office on the day? I know last year we brought tickets off a tout outside for £10 or £15 each (can't remember) and sat on the top tier by the start/finish line.

Torun Gp Saturday 19th June
Wackie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm sure if a rut was deemed dangerous it would be dealt with irrespective of TV schedules, after all, they don't rush riders off track when they've fallen or are receiving medical treatment, and that must play havoc with the TV schedules. Do we even know if that was a rut last night anyway? I'm sure I heard both Havelock and Johnson say it could be a rut or a damp patch of dirt on the track. -

Wackie replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not if you buy your tickets from a tout on the day it's not. Cardiff is never going to be a Leszno or Torun, but it will be interesting to see what sort of fist Tony Olsson makes or it this year. Overall, all the GP tracks have been better prepared than Olsen used to instruct them to be prepared. Really!!! Ooooh, I do, I do. Also remember my mum cuffing me around the head for singing it. Mind you I probably was about 6 or 7 at the time. -
Sack The Statto At Sky Sports
Wackie replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Whether you like it or not, a F1 driver spectating is a big deal at speedway, and it seems at MotoGP. Mark Webber has just been interviewed by the Beeb at Silverstone where they mentioned he'd been over to Poland the night before to support Crumpy. F1 & MotoGP is where the money is, if speedway can get a plug out of either of them, great it's getting the speedway name out there into other more popular forms of motor sport. If it wasn't for Webber, Crump wouldn't have the mainstream Red Bull backing he has now, and also may not have recovered from his injuries sustained last season in time for this years GP. -

Orion, can I borrow my t-shirt back for the evening, don't worry I'll wash it before and after I wear it. Excellent news that the meeting is being re-staged so soon, get the feeling we're not going to get many chances over at least the next few years to see any Reading team on track. -

So Top Cat was all lined up to replace Pavlic, maybe the 4TT will be a practice run instead. -

Agreed, great extended coverage of the final today. Louis is a natural speedway presenter but really enjoyed his race commentary along side Sir Kelv who took the lead role today. -
