Change of sports minister in Malaysia meant government funding for speedway was withdrawn. No money = no speedway

"british Fans A Disgrace"

Not if they were last out of the gate they wouldn't. yeah, at the back. Andre Compton & Stoney still get a "warm welcome" from the home fans at Smallmead too. -

You'll be pleased to hear Shortoi that although Pedersen, like Nicholls stood on the rostrum, neither scored any points in the final. You'll be even more p!ssed off though when you watch the Sky coverage & see Pedersen touching the tapes & getting away with it earlier in the meeting too! -

From what I could hear, thought the musical choices were excellent. Land of Hope & Glory was brilliant hairs standing on end stuff, but the pièce de résistance was the first semi final when Bjarne got wrongly excluced. Don't know if the music was aimed at the Ref or NP but I nearly spat my JD out when I heard When the sun goes down by the Arctic Monkeys blasting out........ "And what a scummy man Just give him half a chance I bet he'll rob you if he can" and "Cause he's a scumbag, don't you know I said he's a scumbag, don't you know" Shame he didn't see fit to do the same when he ran into the back of Adams & B Pedersen. -

I know Lupus, had to read it twice but I agree too. Pedersen can count himself VERY lucky to have been in the final at all. Should have been excluded for touching the tapes in his 2nd (?) ride let alone the let off's he got for riding into the back of Adams & Bjarne Pedersen. The ref clearly didn't want to be outdone by Graham Flint at the PL Pairs last night, well congratulations Mr Wojaczek as to$$er contests go I think you just about pipped Flint on that performance tonight. Congratulations to Crumpy & Greg though, both really looked up for it tonight. Commiserations to Adams & BP, takes a lot for them to publically lose their rag but their comments were fully justified tonight. Shame Gollob didn't fancy it tonight, and can't believe Nicholls choked in the final after riding well all evening. -
Who's Going To Cardiff

It's not all bad Adzy & Deano. Just think of the cheap booze & decent food you'll be able to enjoy whilst having one of the best views of the meeting, while others are being ripped off for warm beer & lab manufactured hotdogs & have been charged to cross into Wales. If it gets really exciting as well, you can stand outside you back door & let blast your flamable liquid air horn until your hearts content (or until the neighbours come knocking anyway) Hope everyone watching at home has a good night - JD's open, beers are cooling & I'm off to light the barbie now. -

Czech Hotel For Gp Help Needed Please
Wackie replied to invadersfan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Stayed at Pension Klara a few years ago, basic but cheap & would recommend it if you're on a budget. Tram stop directly into main centre virtually outside the door, nice cheap local pub accross the road. Have they got that lift installed yet though? Remember that flight of stairs being a mamouth climb, especially after a few pivo's. -
Pedersen didn't hold back when asked what should happen to Olsen for producing tracks like that did he.

Danish Grand Prix
Wackie replied to Midland Robin's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't think the argument should be about who's the better rider. The point is that the Danish Team Manager did nominated Mads as the wild card for the Danish Grand Prix which was over ruled by Olsen - that's what's out of order. I can't imagine Steachman is too happy about the situation either. -
I've seen smoother moto-x circuits than that track tonight. Olsen should be ashamed of himself for firstly producing such a dangerous track, and secondly allowing riders to continue to race on it. He can count himself lucky that it seems he got away with the meeting without a very seriously injured rider on his conscience. When will IMG see sense & kick his arse ouf of the GP's? Personally thought the Gollob/Jonsson incident was just a racing accident, not helped by the state of the track. Best wishes to AJ, NKI, Andersen, Bomber, Dryml, Greg, Tomicek and any others I missed who may have picked up an injury tonight.

Thanks for clearing that up Bryn, I was only stating what it said on the news broadcast. That barrier didn't seem to have a lot of give in it, thank god there was nobody behind Trav when it threw him back onto the track. Even though Trav came from, and has moved on again to the dark side , he soon made himself a firm favourite at Reading and I hope this latest injury to what must be an already weak shoulder doesn't hold him back in 2008 - wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
-
Video clip of Trav's crash from Aussie news http://news.ninemsn.com.au/video.aspx?vide...e9f05046f&tab=1 Although the news report states Travis suffered a dislocated shoulder, Reading website initially ran the same news but was updated yesterday stating that he has in fact suffered a stretched tendon and is back at home resting. Very, very lucky boy after hitting a solid wall (wtf is that all about!! ) at such speed. Get well soon Trav.

Not tight at all Diesel, I've thrown enough money at speedway over the course of 30+ years. But if I decide to go to a GP in 2008 I'll go to one of the eastern european ones where there's a chance the racing might be better and the atmosphere just as good. You also get a decent weekend out of it as well and don't have to put up with thousands of knob heads in their union jack hats trying to carry 4 pints of larger and spilling 2 pints over you on their way past. I wouldn't mind so much but most of them can only drink 2 before they're p!ssed anyway so buying 4 is a waste of money! -

Well I gave it a miss this year as well so am unaware of what the increase is for 2008, athough they price hike hasn't stopped yet - buy your tickets after 31st December and they'll cost you even more. Compare the prices to what they were 2 or 3 years ago though and it's a rip off. Family ticket in 2004 cost £60. Family ticket for 2008 will cost £80 or £90 If l look back even further a ticket for lower level on the back straight in 2001 cost £19. Sorry, but the racing at Rye House is more exciting that Cardiff and as SR said the novelty factor has worn off for me. The biggest highlight for the fans now seems to be who can get the most pissed. -

Completely agree SR, ticket prices a rip off as well. IMG/BSI are mugging the British speedway public off the back of Bombers win this year. -
Don't think 2008 will be completely Adamsless, but do think he'll step down from the GP's and will ride maybe just the UK & Polish leagues.
-
Congatulations Nicki, very much deserved 2nd world title. Just a shame there weren't any of the entertaining tantrums in the process of achiveving this one.
-
Not what a lot of Bees fans having been saying about the meeting. Haven't heard much about any fantastic racing, more comments like "dire" and "like watching paint dry" etc.

So we take it this thread hasn't "run it's course with everyone having their say" & will be locked then steve?
