  1. Turned out to be a great meeting I thought, track improved and we saw some great racing and an insight into what the future has to offer. The joker shennaigans were brilliant, hopefully the stupid rule has shot itself in the foot, and will be consigned to the bin, but it kept the tension going. Well done to the Danes, they were the best team tonight and deserved their win. Great to see the team singing proudly their national anthem too, and enjoying their champagne, while the runners up had Aussie whine.
  2. That's not always been the case though with Crump. Now yes, but in his younger days he persistently acted the spoiled brat, with histerical dummy spitting antics! I'm sure age & experience has mellowed him, and he is a leading example of a professional speedway rider these days but you can't erase the past, and whilst I respect him for the rider he's become, I can't quite forget the rider he was. The same will probably be said for the Turbo Tarts in a few years time. Whilst they're not particuarily petulant, they are very arrogant at times, which generally gets on peoples thripennies unless your a poole fan or another aussie! Davey Watt's had his moments too! So, calling it a hatred is a bit strong, but I'm definately not a fan of the Aussie team, so would prefer to see any other team on top of the rostrum. No sense no feeling!
  3. The Russians are coming!!!! Hopefully it'll be 1st Russia 2nd Denmark 3rd Sweden 4th Australia More likely to be Denmark, Oz, Russia, Sweden tho
  4. There were a number of referring faux pas last night. Too much movement at the tapes which hindered Team GB in some races, the Holder/Harris crash, which he eventually got right! The King/Smolinski crash which he didn't. King was passed the german when he decided to turn in on him - but you wouldn't see it that way As for Kenny McKinna being a Scot, of course that's why they were all there supporting him, but it was the BRITISH final. The fans, along with Kenny seemed to buy into the whole thing.
  5. Fantastic meeting last night, on a fantastic track, and well done to the Brits who showed passion and determination throughout the meeting, and barring the couple of mechanical gremlins & dodgy referring decision (please don't tell me they're letting that cretin ref the race off or final) would have won the meeting. They did themselves and #RICO proud. Looking forward to seeing similar attitudes from them in the race off, although I do feel that winning the meeting and grabbing the last place in the final maybe a little out of their reach. But then again, who'd have thought we'd run the aussies so close!! If TeamGB don't make the final, I'll be cheering on the Ruskies! To be fair, you never hear any of the TeamGB squad be it rider, mechanics or managers refer to the team as "England". The only time I heard it mentioned last night was from the Aussies. It's a fair point, and one I excercised recently when I happily watched that scottish twunt lose at Wimbledon at the weekend. That said, back in the 90's I remember on more than one occasion a whole bend at Coventry being taken over by the Scots who'd made their way down to support Kenny McKinna in British Finals. They seemed to completely embrace the whole "GB nonesence", as many of the Scottish speedway fans do today, I'm thinking you're more a minority with your views.
  6. Form is temporary, class is permanent as proven by Greg Hancock. Congratulations Herbie - Individual World Speedway Champion 1997 & 2011
  7. Fingers crossed Janusz gets the nod for 2011. He's been more exciting to watch than AJ or Andersen for the past couple of years!!
  8. If you live in a non Virgin area you're pretty much stuck with Sky and have to pay £20 a month for the Sports package, but can only have sports if you have at least one Entertainment pack as well which cost a minimum of about £20. If you only really need Sky to watch speedway, you're paying £40 a month.
  9. And for those of us who pay £40 a month to Sky just to watch the speedway it's a justified whinge! I'm not around for the start of the meeting so was going to Sky+ it and start watching it when I got back home about 8pm. Not able to do that now, and no point watching it live as the meeting will be two thirds over by that time. Feel even more sorry for the Virgin viewers who don't have the option of watching it live on the red button at all! And no, I shouldn't "just be grateful" that speedway is shown on Sky at all, it's not as though they are doing me a favour showing it, I pay a premium for the privaledge!!! Getting more & more p!ssed off with the way Sky is dealing with what is supposed to be Speedway's showcase event, I thought it was one of their more popular sports they showed! Since Reading closed, I've been losing more & more interest in speedway, the weekly EL meetings are generally less entertaining than some of the Poole fan's attempts at humour on this forum, it's only been the SWC and GP's that have really kept any interest alive for me, and now Sky are starting to screw about with them. I could quite easily stick to BSB, WSB and Moto GP on Eurosport and save on the Sky sports subscription each season, and that's looking more and more of a possibility next year.
  10. If you wait until Thursday, i'm sure all these 99p stores will be giving England air horns & flags etc away. And for all the moaners who don't like the atmosphere the air horns create in a stadium, i hope u brought your cardiff seats in an airhorn free zone. After all, they've specially sectioned off these areas for all the miserable old gits.
  11. Do they still charge face value for buying from the ticket office on the day? I know last year we brought tickets off a tout outside for £10 or £15 each (can't remember) and sat on the top tier by the start/finish line.
  12. I'm sure if a rut was deemed dangerous it would be dealt with irrespective of TV schedules, after all, they don't rush riders off track when they've fallen or are receiving medical treatment, and that must play havoc with the TV schedules. Do we even know if that was a rut last night anyway? I'm sure I heard both Havelock and Johnson say it could be a rut or a damp patch of dirt on the track.
  13. Not if you buy your tickets from a tout on the day it's not. Cardiff is never going to be a Leszno or Torun, but it will be interesting to see what sort of fist Tony Olsson makes or it this year. Overall, all the GP tracks have been better prepared than Olsen used to instruct them to be prepared. Really!!! Ooooh, I do, I do. Also remember my mum cuffing me around the head for singing it. Mind you I probably was about 6 or 7 at the time.
  14. Whether you like it or not, a F1 driver spectating is a big deal at speedway, and it seems at MotoGP. Mark Webber has just been interviewed by the Beeb at Silverstone where they mentioned he'd been over to Poland the night before to support Crumpy. F1 & MotoGP is where the money is, if speedway can get a plug out of either of them, great it's getting the speedway name out there into other more popular forms of motor sport. If it wasn't for Webber, Crump wouldn't have the mainstream Red Bull backing he has now, and also may not have recovered from his injuries sustained last season in time for this years GP.
  15. Agreed, great extended coverage of the final today. Louis is a natural speedway presenter but really enjoyed his race commentary along side Sir Kelv who took the lead role today.
  16. What you fail to mention though Zonkers is that there were twice as many people at and trying to get out of Wembley as there was Cardiff last week. I also visited both stadiums in the past week and had no problems with either - actually we had more problems getting to Cardiff and ended up dumping the car in Newport and catching the train in. TBH, you should have expected problems getting out of car parks around the stadium, it's been a historic problem. We drove to Hillingden, parked in the large station car park all day for £1 and caught the tube straight to Wembley Park, and after leaving Wembley on Saturday night were back at our car again within 30 minutes. GP in my opinion should stay in Wales. The average Cardiff crowd for a GP at Wembley would look pityful and the Millenium is slap bang in the middle of Cardiff which enables people to make a weekend of it.

  18. Sick @rsewipe!

  19. Not anymore Jacques, there's a new kid on the block. Move over Pedersen, Emil's come to play.
  20. Would have preferred another winner, but credit where it's due Pedersen has been the most consistent rider in the GP's all season. Congratulations to him on his 3rd world title. He's not a massive favourite of mine, but I thought Jason was very magnanimous in defeat tonight not a whinge or a moan from him at all, and was one of the first to congratulate Nicki after he clinched the title.
  21. Maybe they were in on it too, they've got an extra 5 days Sky Sports subscription out of me because the meeting was cancelled.
  22. Think SCB could be wrong, this forum is full of expert tossers!
  23. Rubbish! It's standard procedure in Moto GP, 250 & 125 racing for riders to respond in their native tongue when being interviewed after a race. Gollob intimated to Brandon that he hadn't quite finished what he wanted to say & would give comment in English afterwards. Sky Sports aren't the only one's who show the coverage, I'm sure the people watching in Poland, Denmark, Sweden etc aren't mainly English speaking. Personally I thought Gollob came over really well when interviewed last night be it with his responses given in Polish or English. He looked to be relaxed and enjoying the whole thing even though he only managed 3rd after dominating the main meeting. Congratulations to Greg on his win. These old boys can still do it & even with the call for new, young blood in the GP series next year like Holder, Pavlic and the young ruskie who's name I can't be bothered to look up the spelling of at the moment, I don't think they'd give the old guard too many problems next year and would still expect the likes of Gollob, Hancock, Adams, Crump, Pedersen to comfortably make the top 8.
  24. In no particular order Richardson Zagar Ulamek
